The Accuracy and speed of the data extraction and the integration with multiple software is by far the best that we have tested on the market. we have integrated it with our top end clients. All the ways of getting the information onto the system is really useful as we have clients who still like to print all documentation off for their records, so the photo taking is ideal for them, whereas my personal favourite is to just drag from one screen to the other with pdfs, which is a lot easier than going through paperwork. the feature where you can email in is really good, and i do like the fact that you can forward an email with no attachment and it will read the email body and put this in an image for you.

The cost for us now is built into the clients packages and when we demonstrate it to them, then they can get a feel for its worth and also the value that we can get price it accordingly in our packages.

The onboarding side of it is pretty straight forward, we generally will do it with our other chosen accountancy software and onboard at the same time so they can check their emails at the same time and its done. We do use dext solo for a few clients also, but i like the integrations with the other software.

The fact that the AI can strip all the information from the invoice with a 99.9% accuracy is a big change for us, i used to do all this direct onto the software and it saves my fingers cramping like they used to. What has gotten worse in the last couple of years is the connections to the suppliers can be quite frustrating with the 2 factor authentication methods now. Amazon can be quite challenging, but I don't really use that feature as much anymore with the problems I have with it, I generally login and download then drag and drop. The automation is very helpful. It saves time when documenting expenses by quickly extracting receipt data, and it makes AR and AP easier thanks to its integration with Quickbooks. Instead of having someone manually review items and record all the details, it only takes a few seconds to upload a receipt, have the information automatically extracted, and get it published.

This is especially useful across teams where employees incur expenses as part of their work. I’ve also found the mileage tracking tools helpful for employees who use their personal vehicles while working and need reimbursement. Dext has some limitations on which file formats can be uploaded, which sometimes means we have to convert documents before submitting them. For example, one of my clients uses Dext to help track their accounts receivable. They issue invoices in Excel format, so before uploading them to Dext for automatic tracking, I need to convert each invoice to a PDF first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It’s an intuitive platform that’s also extremely robust, with rich features that support a wide range of use cases. It’s a suitable expense management solution for small, medium, and larger businesses, and it feels built to scale as the company grows. Expense reports is a commonly used module and helps businesses correctly allocate expenses to the right person/department. For basic users, it can feel a bit complex at first, and it does require buy-in from clients who are less tech-savvy or simply less willing to adopt new software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Dext is a great tool that gets used a lot both internally at the firm and externally by clients and allows us to be able to continue supporting our clients to our full potential.

Specific features I enjoy and love to share with my clients is the UI. It's very user friendly and clients often appreciate being able to upload documents via different and convenient methods like the app, whatsapp, email, etc.

The integrations, in particular with accounting software makes for a very seamless experience for the client and a very valuable one for us at the firm.

The newer AI features are a huge plus for the team as it allows us to continue to streamline, automate, and save on manual tasks which in turn saves on time.

Additionally, having the Dext team come and do an in-person session with us is always so valuable as we're able to connect directly and use real life examples, and learn about new features and how to utilize them, give and get real time feedback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I’m very excited to start using AI Assist. After meeting in person with the Dext team today, I enabled AI Assist and I’m looking forward to trying it on complex, multi-line invoices with multiple tax treatments, locations within one entity, and other complexities. I’m hoping it will reduce the time my team spends making manual changes, so we can focus more on staying aligned with budgets while still producing high-quality deliverables. At the moment, clients sometimes forget to use the Dext Buckets, and invoices end up in the Vault or bills end up in Invoices. It would be really helpful to have an auto-sorting feature to prevent this kind of misfiling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The pricing is honestly the biggest downside to Dext. While the per-client cost isn’t too bad, the mandatory minimum of 10 clients is a deal breaker. I only have a few clients (around 3–4) who actually need Dext’s help with bookkeeping, so being forced to pay for another six clients I don’t need is simply too much. Also, sometimes the AI fails to detect the amounts in receipt, to the point where I have to review every single receipts and invoices to ensure that every amount is entered correctly. For instance, sometime the AI will fail to detect HST paid completely, which just increases overall time spent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like best about Dext is how much time it saves me on data entry. Instead of manually keying in every receipt and invoice, I just snap a photo or forward the email and it pulls the supplier, date, amount, and tax details automatically. The extraction accuracy has gotten noticeably better over time, and it syncs straight into Xero and QuickBooks, so my clients' books stay current without me chasing paperwork. The mobile app is clean and easy enough that even my less tech-savvy clients can submit receipts on the go. Onboarding was straightforward, and when I've had questions, support has been responsive. The biggest downside is that the extraction isn't perfect, so I still have to review and correct items now and then, especially with unusual invoice layouts or handwritten receipts. It can occasionally misread amounts or pull the wrong tax code, which means I can't fully trust it without a quick check. Every so often the sync with Xero lags or an item gets stuck, which takes a few minutes to sort out. None of these are dealbreakers, but they're the rough edges I run into. It has been imperative to our Firm's progression and growth within the industry. The auto publish and supplier statement features are incredible at improving efficiencies throughout all of our clients. Kyle and Charmaine who work for Dext are always on hand for support and are incredibly quick to reply - the service from these two is so important. Whilst it is a large cost to cover, we have found the number of staff we have been able to train and progress on to more complex work as a result of them not being stuck analysing paperwork has been one of the main reasons our company has grown so much over the last 10 years. There are very few features we dislike, however I would say we have some issues integrating with other software, such as Kashflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love that it keeps a digital record of all submitted receipts. It also pulls information from the receipts we submit, which speeds up the process of entering details into our accounting program (for us, this is primarily QBO). I also use the Dext Extension and being able to quickly review expenses within QBO with a side by side view of the attached receipt saves me so much time. We've recently been utilizing the statement reconciliation feature more and truly appreciate how quick it is to identify missing items. I've heard feedback from clients as well about how much they appreciate this. Using rules for some of our farm files which have to split utilities between a percentage of personal and business use, this has sped up the processing of all utility expenses as Dext handles the split automatically. Our province has both GST and PST. When we want to use the proper tax code for easier analysis from our accounting program, there’s no way to override the tax amount if the rounding is even slightly different from what’s on the receipt. At that point, we’re forced to use the extracted amount. We have a few clients where we do a detailed GST analysis every month, so we try to apply the correct sales tax code to make that process faster. However, the tax amount seems to be hard-coded, and the only fields you can adjust are the net and gross amounts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like most about Dext is the amount of time it saves me on bookkeeping. Receipt and invoice capture is fast and accurate, and the automated data extraction cuts down manual entry significantly. The platform is straightforward to use, integrates smoothly with accounting software, and makes it much easier to keep financial records organised and up to date. One area for improvement is that the data extraction occasionally requires manual corrections, particularly with more complex or lower-quality receipts. It would also be helpful if some features were more intuitive for new users, and processing times can sometimes be a little slower during busy periods.
