## PracticeWorks Reviews
  ### 1. Not User-Friendly, and the Visuals Need Improvement

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about PracticeWorks?**

We switched from PracticeWorks to Curve, and we wouldn’t switch back.

**What do you dislike about PracticeWorks?**

It isn’t very user-friendly, and the software’s visuals have a dated aesthetic.

**What problems is PracticeWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PracticeWorks didn’t update the software or roll out improvements often enough, which is why we ended up switching to Curve.

  ### 2. Minimal Confusion

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about PracticeWorks?**

Practice Works was the easiest dental software I've ever used. It did not take me long to easily utilize the program. I trained for a few days and found I could navigate the program easily.

**What do you dislike about PracticeWorks?**

At the time of use, the office I worked at did not use it for charting notes. It was only used to schedule patients and to check in/check out patients. The office used paper charts which leads me to believe it was likely difficult to use when transitioning from paper charts to electronic charts.

**What problems is PracticeWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being user friendly is important. There are a lot of offices making the transition from paper charts to electronic charts. It would be ideal for PW to have a 1.0 and 2.0 system, 1.0 being super simple to use to make the transition easier. The 2.0 can be a more advanced system for those who have already been using electronic charting.

  ### 3. Mostly satisfied, but still has some things to improve to help the program be better.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about PracticeWorks?**

The essential functions of the program are user-friendly. They can definatley help an office run more smoothly. The software also seems to have less glitches than other programs I have used. The fact that imaging, phones, and scheduling can be streamlined with CS practiceworks fairly simply makes it ideal for practices that use other software to make their practice more efficiant.

**What do you dislike about PracticeWorks?**

I wish reports were easier to run and export ALL reports to excel or other programs. Insurance reports are primarily stuck in an old format (which is not user-friendly) and can not be quickly gone through. There is also an error that allows words to print on top of each other. I have not been able to correct that in any formatting of different computers. Another feature that could use an upgrade would be the charting module. It takes a long time to open and takes time to go between the tabs. The new x-ray software has added two additional steps to be able to preview the X-ray. While the image quality is better, it is very cumbersome to try and quick check an X-ray.

**Recommendations to others considering PracticeWorks:**

I think that the product is beneficial for Dental Practices. The basic product is very user-friendly, but many additional features would need training by practice works to use. It is very convenient to have all scheduling, charting, and X-ray in one program.

**What problems is PracticeWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s our scheduling and charting system. It’s nice to have more than one person look at a chart at a time. It is very convenient to have everything in one location and not have to use several programs at a time like we used to have to do. Our Xrays also run through Practice works imaging, so it is a seamless process. Also, the ability to upload other Xrays into the chart as x-rays instead of attachments is extremely beneficial.

  ### 4. CS PracticeWorks is average

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pearl W. | Scheduling Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about PracticeWorks?**

It has a lot of different options / tools that I can use while organizing recall patients.

**What do you dislike about PracticeWorks?**

Some of the steps are more complicated than they need to be. Not super user-friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering PracticeWorks:**

If you're not computer savvy then i wouldn't recommend this software. There are a lot of better ones on the market.

**What problems is PracticeWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not having any problems at the moment, but when I do I call Carestream and they help me out.

  ### 5. PracticeWorks is easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about PracticeWorks?**

**What do you dislike about PracticeWorks?**

Would love to be more than 1 user friendly with patients charts.

**Recommendations to others considering PracticeWorks:**

easy to use

**What problems is PracticeWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Electronic record keeping on our patients

  ### 6. CS PracticeWorks

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2017

**What do you like best about PracticeWorks?**

The quality of the integrated imaging is excellent. The corresponding imaging products are easy to use & care for. Product ingenuity for the functionality of manipulating the images and the ability to use those products for creating outstanding images is heads above other software. The ease of using the software with the integrated products is outstanding.

**What do you dislike about PracticeWorks?**

The software has a limit of one person accessing a chart or its corresponding records at a time. So the doctor can't be in the chart while the front desk is trying to schedule the patient, or the front desk can not access the insurance while the chart is open without limitations on it. The ledger portion can be difficult to follow in complicated insurance cases. There are also glitches that the company is aware of but don't make the customers aware of until you call in with an issue then they inform you of the need to update the software again. Updating the software is time consuming and glitchy. Contacting customer support is time consuming. In January you can almost forget getting hold of them. If you chose the call back option, it takes them two weeks to call you back.

**What problems is PracticeWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Outstanding imaging is the greatest asset. This software can be used as a paperless system, we have become as paperless as possible with this software.

  ### 7. Ease

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Olivia G. | Office manager, Health, Wellness and Fitness, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about PracticeWorks?**

Very user friendly, have used for many years

**What do you dislike about PracticeWorks?**

Not able to email a patient their receipt within Practiceworks

**What problems is PracticeWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It handles everything from appointments to accounts receivable. We can run reports to see how business is doing

  ### 8. Too difficult

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2017

**What do you like best about PracticeWorks?**

There isn't anything that I like about the program. The clipboard is cute with the little yellow sticky notes.

**What do you dislike about PracticeWorks?**

Everything, from the way we have to enter the treatment plans and completed, to the prescriptions, the pan. the fact that they cant check out if we have it up in the back. So dealing with a lot of yelling and attitudes about the forgotten charting modules...

**Recommendations to others considering PracticeWorks:**

it's just not user friendly. time consuming, inconvenient and too difficult!!!

**What problems is PracticeWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

none, and none
