Simple Yet Effective Desktop Email Client **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Dr Andy T. | Founder, Owner, and Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2024 **What do you like best about Claws Mail?** Claws Mail’s graphical user interface is intuitive, easy to use, and effective. I needed to refer to the documentation when first setting up Claws Mail to access my AWS WorkMail account via IMAP, but using Claws Mail from then on has been hassle-free. I particularly like the fact that Claws Mail is light on resource usage - the program runs smoothly on about 80 MB of memory and less than 1% of CPU on my ten-year old PC that runs on an Intel Xeon E3-1231 v3 @ 3.40GHz processor with Windows 10 installed. Claws Mail is free software. **What do you dislike about Claws Mail?** The retrieval of new emails in Claws Mail via IMAP is relatively slow, usually taking several seconds. Sending and receiving HTML emails is not possible by default. I prefer to send plain text emails, so the inability to send HTML emails is not an issue for me. To get around the problem of reading HTML emails, I configured my AWS WorkMail email server to forward incoming emails to a Gmail account. In this way, I can read selected HTML emails on my web browser when necessary. **What problems is Claws Mail solving and how is that benefiting you?** The use of a desktop email client such as Claws Mail allows me to securely access my business emails without the hassle of logging into my AWS WorkMail account (or the Gmail account to which all emails are forwarded) via a web browser whenever I want to check my incoming mail. Claws Mail user-friendly interface makes it easy for me to quickly identify new emails in my Inbox and, therefore, aids in enhancing my productivity. The fact that Claws Mail is free software helps to keep our business costs down. ### 2. It is easy to use and has user- friendly software. **What do you dislike about Claws Mail?** The software is really good except some bugs whuch kinda makes it a bit unattractive. The application is able to work with all the popular email protocols out there, including POP3, SMTP and NMTP, allowing you to connect to almost any of the available mail services. In addition, you can also add multiple addresses at the same time and receive updates for all of them. **What do you dislike about Claws Mail?** Unfortunately, one of the major lacking abilities of the application is the fact that it cannot send HTML emails, which leaves you unable to handle things like newsletters or various other kind of rich-media content. **Recommendations to others considering Claws Mail:** As far as the general feel and functionality of the tool, you can have full control over your inbox and messages. You can view sent emails, drafts, setup a queue and move items to trash, as well as compose and forward them as you normally would with any other client. Furthermore, you can also sort and filter them, in order to find a specific message or just arrange them according to your preferences. Ease of use and more robust email tool. **What problems is Claws Mail solving and how is that benefiting you?** We can able to create and use custom templates for our emails, depending on whether they are classified as a reply, a forward or a new message.
