AWS CloudFormation review by Travis G.
"CloudFormation - Dead easy DevOps: My favorite part of CFN (CloudFormation), is the ability to use YAML for the templates. Originally templates needed to be valid JSON documents. From a programmatic standpoint JSON would be better, but from a human readable/ease of use standpoint I greatly prefer YAML over JSON for my templates. However, the most important features of CloudFormation is that, 1) It allows for extremely rapid resource deployments and tear downs; Ideal for testing environments or Blue/Green capable infrastructure. This is because CFN will evaluate your configuration template and determine which resources can be created simultaneously and the correct order in which to deploy resources, so you are far less likely to run into "non-existent dependency" issues with your deployments. 2) The ability to create multiple "stacks", as they're called, and have other stacks reference output data from a previously created stack. A simple example would be: creating a stack to build a VPC, subnets, routes, and basic security groups. Setup the stack to output the subnets and security group(s) information so then if you create a new stack for creating servers you can quickly retrieve subnet and security group resource information without having to input that data manually."

    Ansible review by Aiman N.
"The Swiss Army knife of automation scripting. My favorite automation tool.: - Great flexibility, with proper code organization you can automate any process you want at any complexity! - Ansible is very easy to setup, being an agent-less tool. You can get started without installing any software on the target machine where you would like to execute your automation - Great abstractions: roles (modules), inventory hosts and groups, facts (node information) and group-level as well as host-level variables. You can implement very complex automations in a very clean approach with Ansible abstractions. - A lot of modules available at your disposal. From simple file copying, to templated files, to services and packages management. You will probably forget bash syntax after using Ansible for awhile. Well, you can also use bash to accomplish tasks that do not have modules for. "

Hashicorp Terraform review by Garett D.
"Powerful tool with growing pains: Terraform provides an easy to use, declarative, cloud-agnostic way to manage your infrastructure. There is a lot of power in being able to describe how you want your infrastructure to look, and then allowing Terraform to create/modify/destroy as needed. The fact that you can use the same tool for all major cloud providers, most smaller ones, and even many tools and services in the cloud space, is helpful to keep you from having to learn more tools to work with each service."
