We have always struggled to differentiate our product in a very crowded space, and David did a great job of interviewing people at our company, interviewing our customers, and using a smart, structured methodology to refine our positioning. We also got a lot of great, candid customer feedback which we hadn't heard ourselves. **What do you like best about Buttered Toast?** When we worked with Buttered Toast, our marketing team was only one person. We had very few resources, and they were able to work around that. Other firms we've worked with in the past have been more restricted in what they're able to do when we are resource-constrained. **What do you dislike about Buttered Toast?** I can't think of anything that I would say we disliked. **What problems is Buttered Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were iterating on our product marketing and positioning. He has a method and can walk through the details of his process, the inputs at each step, and what to do at each stage depending on the output. Because of his observable and repeatable process, marketing's value to the overall company becomes apparent and, as such, it becomes evident where to make investments. **What do you dislike about Buttered Toast?** Buttered Toast has a very high-quality network of consultants. I dislike the fact that this network cannot be your permanent employees. **Recommendations to others considering Buttered Toast:** Engage with Buttered Toast and have the discipline to make their consultation advice into company practice. **What problems is Buttered Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?** The business problem was getting a high-quality marketing organization off the ground. The benefit was that Buttered Toast provided a solid foundation - in terms of processes, outsourcing firms, and a thought framework - to make it happen. A good analogy to describe Buttered Toast is that of a world-class fitness coach. You will get excellent instructions to have a more fit marketing organization, but it is up to you to put the fitness coach's theory into practice with discipline. ### 4.
