Baton is user-friendly and easy to use. Definitely a good tool, but need more enhancements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1. Tasks are required to have a due date.
2. If a task(s) is deleted, the entire timeline is affected.
3. Unable to move tasks within a milestone, it can only be moved if you change the dates.
4. Checklist items, if a task has checklist items there's an icon listed on the task. When a user selects the icon, it does not directly open to the checklist. The user must navigate to the list.
5. Kanban View being taken away.
6. Project Health, the entry box blocks previous entries. The entry box should be moved to the left-hand side so users can either read or copy+paste previous reports.
7. Client view timeline is overwhelming and has a lot of information to absorb which can be confusing.
8. The projects dashboard due vs completed, baton score, and time to launch should reflect a specific user when it's filtered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We've primarily been using it as an internal tool to manage each of our project's progress. It's great when working with cross-functional teams. It allows you to easily assign tasks and due dates.
The project templates are easy to use and makes it easy to create new projects to track.
Easy and friendly team to work with at Baton as wll! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At first, there were a lot of emails, but like any application, this can be managed through settings.
It has a bit of a learning curve for new users as well. It can sometimes feel clunky, and we may not be using it to its full potential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
All tasks are presented in an easily understandable overview: One knows exactly what is the most important task that needs to be worked on at any point in time. Other than that I honestly haven't used it long enough to really say. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Too many notification emails, I was sick for a week and had over 100 emails; however it's very easy to adjust the settings to only receive whatever you like. Other than that I honestly haven't used it long enough to really say. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to share project progress with customers & others in the company
Easy to assign ownership of tasks
Several improvements just since we've started using it (six months ago), like a big improvement to how templates work Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a new-ish platform so there is some friction at times (eg changes that don't save /some things are delayed)
Can't change currency (we're in the UK)
It's a tool, sadly it doesn't magically manage our projects for us, much to my team's disappointment ;) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1) Simple to use, no major training required
2) Can share with clients and administer it easily
3) Useful weekly notifications
4) Out of box dashboard for all projects, which is useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1) Limited features (for example - can't add more columns to the plan)
2) Need to update each cell using the task drawer (no easy tabular interface).
3) Auto-save happens upon every keystroke and makes it slow and painful, especially at the start of the project when scores or hundreds of tasks need to be updated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Overall a useful tool for project management with good insight for client and allows for internal collaboration.
- Has decent integration with Jira allowing for PMs to push tasks from Baton, where clients can track them, to Jira, where they can implemented by dev team.
- Allows for quick setup of new client and lay out all required tasks Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- The jira integration isn't two-way and not automatic. It became a lot of overhead to make sure that Baton and Jira were in sync which led to a lot of Baton tasks become outdated by the time they were actually implemented due to changing requirements
- Related to above, a lot of our projects were very heavily used in the early stages of project by all stakeholders, but by the mid to late stages was usually not maintained properly and customer no longer was actively using it. The tool requires an expert, or someone to 'own' it. This is not necessarily an issue with the product and maybe more in my experiences. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like being able to get all the tasks in a nice list and being able to organise projects. A very cool part of it is when you have tasks that are dependent on others, any time you change the date, those dependents get shifted to accomodate the changes automatically. Does take a little bit of time to get set up but once it's done, it works brilliantly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can sometimes feel a little bit clunky, this is when it is trying to autosave. I've had instances where I have typed out some notes within a task or updated the description for a client and it has then decided to overwrite what I have done as it has decided to save an old state. I really love the ability to add subtasks under tasks to ensure we're checking all boxes with portfolio clients. This allows us to add tasks for each specific building which is very useful! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish there was an ability to filter by date, not milestone within our projects. Being able to do this would be extremely helpful with seeing an overall view of what is due today. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Great at keeping projects and tasks organized, and useful for time tracking and planning when to tackle certain tasks.
Also love the ability to integrate with Salesforce. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Often times a project is listed as high risk when it should not be/when there are no problematic tasks left uncompleted. Alternatively sometimes projects are listed as low risk when they do have problematic tasks left uncompleted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Baton is used in our company for project tracking. We rely on Baton to keep ourselves accountable and on track. Baton has many valuable features, but my favorite part about it is the open communication we have with the Baton team. Any feature request we have, the team is responsive and takes it into consideration, often times building it into their next release! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing! Baton works well and meets the needs for my team to stay on track. It has great features and we are able to use Baton to digest where we are when tracking projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
