We slimmed down to just the basics needs of our company and were more efficient because of it. **What do you dislike about Accounting Seed?** It was a jump in cost because of the pricing difference, but we adjusted. **What problems is Accounting Seed solving and how is that benefiting you?** It was a nice alternative to Quick Books, which was more than what we needed, really. I like that account lists that are automatically updated live. The reporting feature is very comprehensive. **What do you dislike about Accounting Seed?** Don't expect Accounting seed/Salesforce to be fully working and user friendly for about six months. It requires a lot of customization to do basic features like sending customer statements and invoices which are not available out of the box. For example sending a statement for a landlord who has multiple tenants requires a separate statement for each tenet. This can be a night mare if the customer has 50 or more tenents or as Accounting Seed likes to say "children". The customer does not have a user friendly way to see basic adjustments on an invoice. Expect to spend alot of time for set up if you have a few hundred customers or more. Expect an additional charge for each licence that you add for basic features like field service, accounting, ect. Customer payment integration can be a nightmare for field service technicians. There will be alot of issues straight out of the box that creates bad customer service. For example field technicians cannot see an accepted payment at the time of capture. Also It seems like every "account list view" has a permissions filter so only certain employees can modify something. Overall it is not very user friendly. **Recommendations to others considering Accounting Seed:** Make sure every in your company has a chance to demo the system before deciding to implement this software. **What problems is Accounting Seed solving and how is that benefiting you?** The integration between Salesforce and accounting seed is very archaic out of the box. Information did not flow from one to the other. We fixed this by creating a workflow rule to automatically push customer billing information from Salesforce to Accounting Seed which can save alot of time. ### 5. IT was hard to get a big picture of where payments were getting stuck in our process - were we not selling enough, invoicing quick enough, or collecting in time? Creating billings and inventory tracking is good to. I like how easy to read the purchase order, sales orders and billing documents are. Being able to create all 3 of these different items from more then one spot with in Sales Force is great as well. All the different articles on the Accounting website are very helpful. **What do you dislike about Accounting Seed?** The only thing I really don't like is how the P&L report is being made and I can't seem to figure out how to fix it. I came with your accounting package. It seems to be only pulling this from the journal entries and not including cash receipts or cash dismemberment. I have reached out to your support website and I have only gotten one response. As for the development side, it is pretty easy to build your logic to work with accounting seed. Without the ability to post/unpost certain record types via the provided apex methods, a lot of our logic would not be viable. **What do you dislike about Accounting Seed?** There are cases where a cash disbursement is created by mistake or something and it needs to be voided but there are no apex methods to do this. At this time, it has to be done manually or the logic has to unpost and delete it if it does not need to be reconciled. **What problems is Accounting Seed solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before, everything was being done with Quickbooks and while this system does ok, it was a pain to keep it synced with the customers information and payments in Salesforce. With Accounting Seed, everything is now done in Salesforce, making it much easier to manage. The system can be pretty confusing to understand all the ins and outs of it without formal training becuase of how robust it is, but the documentation can usually help with that. There are still things I am learning but getting the hang of it. ### 8. All of our questions have been answered, all of our problems to date have been solved when we bring them up. The teams are very quick to get back to us if there's help requested. **Recommendations to others considering Accounting Seed:** Make sure you figure our ALL of your paths before implementing. I save time because I only have one software to manage payments and customer cash receipt. I would also like past due billings to "roll up" into subsequent invoices. So if an April billing goes past due, rather than create a separate finance charge invoice, I would like it better if the finance charge and past due billing would roll up into a single billing that I can provide the client. Currently I have to email or print 2 separate billings to collect. **What problems is Accounting Seed solving and how is that benefiting you?** Many of the features, especially bulk posting and emailing has cut down on the amount of time my team spends on billing clients in a timely manner. ### 12. It is very difficult to create financial reporting, and at this point, we cant create a cash flow, so that has to be done manually offline. The initial startup support was the best we have ever experienced with any cloud base app we have adopted. **What do you dislike about Accounting Seed?** Some page layouts are not easily modifiable without involving development and because we work with primarily customized objects out of Salesforce, it did require some extensive development to achieve the automations that were already in place with Salesforce standard objects. **What problems is Accounting Seed solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are still ironing out details when dealing with multi-currency but overall, we have worked through most of these hurdles. We have noticed many efficiencies and developed streamlined processes that has saved our Finance team hours a day of manual work. ### 14. Ability to create truly custom processes and automations that make sense for our organization. 2. Ability to make customizations and developments on our own (internally and/or with third party developer assistance). 3. Integration with many different third-party tools - if you can't build something (or don't want to), there is probably a solution that already exists. 4. Ability to 'dice up' data and report on it in many different ways to get a clear financial picture of the organization as a whole from different angles. 5. Accounting Seed (with additional development) has allowed us to compensate our people in many different ways automatically, inside the system - no exporting, no spreadsheets, no manual calculations. 6. Overall robustness of the platform that allows our organization to scale. **What do you dislike about Accounting Seed?** The following are fairly specialized issues that we either resolved ourselves already or are fine 'living with' for the time being, but that Accounting Seed should address: 1. No 'ledger' view of accounts that show transactions and live balances. This information can be obtained through native Salesforce Reports, generated Accounting Seed Reports, or by hiring a developer to build out custom Visual Force pages or running calculators to do this. This should be provided out of the box. 2. Recording batch cash receipts is difficult - this should be an easier process to break up one cash receipt and assign it to multiple Accounts/Projects. 3. Doing many things in the system requires steps that seem very unnecessary. For example: Posting any record requires multiple steps - Approved, Review Posting, then Post (why?); Paying a Payable must be done individually, and requires multiple steps (again, why?). 4. No native ability to switch between Accrual and Cash basis (there are workarounds, but they require hiring developers, as we have done). This should be provided out of the box, or at the very least, Accounting Seed should make it very clear in its materials that it only does Accrual. 5. Customizing invoice, credit memo, account statement, etc. templates requires coding. We had to purchase Conga Composer to get client-facing forms that we need. That is unacceptable. 6. Cost - Accounting Seed licenses are not cheap, but be prepared for the real cost (in money, time, effort, and overall resources): a) adapting the system to what you need it to do; and b) adding in third-party applications for specific functions. Both get expensive quickly. Finally, Accounting Seed did not do things very well 'out of the box' for our organization, but given its robustness and functionality after we customized it to our needs, we are happy with our decision to adopt it. **Recommendations to others considering Accounting Seed:** 1. Really test it out before diving in 2. Ask the stupid questions - go through your existing processes and make sure that there is a direct comparable process/way to do something in Accounting Seed before doing a live switch 3. If Accounting Seed does not do something that you need, consult with a Salesforce AND Accounting Seed developer specialist (there are a few good ones) and get estimates for the builds 4. Test, customize, and get it to where you need it before doing a live transition **What problems is Accounting Seed solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1. Using one system for all of our needs without double entry required (Advologix + Accounting Seed). All of our data lives in one place. 2. Customizing the software tools we use to fit our unique needs. 3. Creating a law firm that is agile and flexible to needs of its attorneys as we grow. ### 15. Talk about a nightmare - too much manual entry led to lots of issues. Fortunately, we no longer have that problem thanks to the integrated Accounting Seed solution. **What do you dislike about Accounting Seed?** Would love for AS to have a Cash-basis feature. That said, there are some minimal workarounds that enable us to re-categorize for year-end tax reporting. Bank Direct Connect sometimes needs to be "re-managed", meaning we sometimes have to reconnect to the account in order to have it pick up the most recent transactions. It's just a bit time consuming when it doesn't need to be. **Recommendations to others considering Accounting Seed:** Do not let the fact that it is accrual-based to negatively influence your decision to use this tool. While there not switch to move to cash-basis accounting, there are ways around creating cash-basis reports. **What problems is Accounting Seed solving and how is that benefiting you?** Eliminated month-end auditing between SF and QB. We now have more timely financial reporting - like, immediate! We can also easily link expenses to campaigns, projects and more. It is great to have one source of record that you can actually count on to be reporting accurately! ### 16. It has just the right amount of accounting roadblocks in place to protect us from our selves but overall it does a very good job being extremely customizable to fit our need and doesn't get in the way like our last Salesforce accounting app did. AccountingSeed also has great suppoort, very responsive. **What do you dislike about Accounting Seed?** Some of the UI on the "intermittent" screens (sales order to PO creation, PO receiving, Sales Order allocating, etc) are a bit outdated and difficult to decipher sometimes. Not the most intuitive screens to work with. Also, sometimes the accountingseed enforced error codes are quite vague. Personally, I don't dislike this but if you are looking for a complete turnkey system with little to no customization required, this might not be the best fit. It appealed to us because we COULD customize and we wanted to but that might be a drawback for a company with less experienced internal salesforce admin resources or the inability to outsource that customization. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't require any code development, all declarative admin level items, but it is minimally configured out of the box. Online help center leaves a little to be desired, several outdated videos showing the classic UI. Produciton quality of videos and specificity of the knowledge articles could be improved. Lastly, their out of the box documents (billings, packslips, statements, etc) are very basic and limited editing ability. We had to customize and redo our own to get the right look and feel using another tool. Make sure you do your research prior to the investment. While Accounting Seed is Salesforce native and you can integrate many of the bells and whistles from that platform, there are still a few hang ups in the day to day processes of data entry, which may require hiring additional help to get through the time consuming and tedious processes required by this my multi-step accounting software. **Recommendations to others considering Accounting Seed:** Test drive before you buy. We loved the GL Variable & Project functionality within Accounting Seed and how it integrated with TaskRay and other Salesforce native platforms, but decided that the functionality of the other process of the system wasn't efficient in terms of data entry, data review and audit, or report exporting. There were also some issues with the Bank Direct Connect that created more attention than an Accounting software should require. We also have many expenditures on our Corporate American Express. Those transactions required us to enter them as a Payables Invoice and create cash disbursements. There is an option for entering a direct payment/cash disbursement, however that function does not allow you to enter to different GL accounts or different GL variables. Overall, the system was not for our organization. I will say that the staff was very helpful and the training process was easy and thorough. Accounting Seed University was also well laid out and easy to understand and follow with videos & step by step instruction. ### 18.
