# Which spend management platforms give procurement teams the clearest visibility into budget vs. actual spend across departments?

Multi-entity setups tend to be where department-level budget visibility actually breaks, since a dashboard that looks clean with one legal entity often needs real reconfiguration once a second entity, a different chart of accounts, or a separate approval hierarchy gets layered in. The QuickBooks sync gap mentioned here is a good example of the kind of workaround that doesn&#39;t show up until the end, when someone realizes the department breakdown looked complete, but a chunk of transactions never made it across cleanly. Setting up work before the breakdowns are usable is often less about the software itself and more about getting the underlying department and category taxonomy consistent across everyone entering expenses, which is a people problem more than a configuration one.
