What do you like best about STARLIMS?

Starlims is a LIMS with many advantages. It is well-focused on laboratory management and quality assurance. The main advantages are:

- Its high level of data integrity (Electronic signature 21CFR Part 11), efficient and easily exportable audit trail, relevant blockages, and logical flows in the processes of material and product release.

- Ease in managing samples, analyses, methods, and associated specifications.

- Management of software access allowing a combination of multiple profiles and laboratories.

- The possibility of authorizing certain people for multiple analyses.

- The possibility of interfacing with many other systems.

- The different available modules (stability management, equipment, reagents, Environmental Management, Electronic Laboratory Notebook, OOT detection, etc.).

What do you dislike about STARLIMS?

Starlims should be further developed to meet the needs of the pharmaceutical industries. It lacks certain basic features regarding the configuration of results, analyses, or certificates:

- Support for results preceded by the signs +/- or <>

- Support for standard analyses from Pharmacopoeias (such as Dissolution or Content Uniformity for which one must configure the calculation formulas and specification schemes themselves)

- Support for issues of fluctuating decimals in the case of analyses of ICH Q3 (A and B) guidelines

- Absence of necessary fields for the Pharmaceutical industry for certificates in certain tables (Manufacturer code, manufacturer address) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about STARLIMS?

STARLIMS provides a web based application without the need to install any additional softwares on the client machine.

Modern UI is user friendly and easy to learn. Applications can be customized easily according to business needs.

Multiple OOTB applications provide many functions to carry out simple to complex lab workflows without the need to customize.

Ease of access which can be controlled via configurations and application settings.

What do you dislike about STARLIMS?

SDMS and ELN components of STARLIMS are not very user friendly and comes with certain limitations. SDMS is susceptible to very minute changes in the files for instrument integration and parsing. It is a bit tedious to troubleshoot issues in ELN/SDMS.

Performance is slow for the Results Entry module. It takes significant time to perform manual results entry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is STARLIMS solving and how is that benefiting you?

STARLIMS has automated many of the complex lab workflows and reduced the need to work with multiple small applications such as Excel and different databases.

Less manual or repetitive work by using SDMS for automated results entry via file parsing and ELN for eliminating paper or excel based note keeping for day-to-day lab workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

1. In LIMS, I can use Test Plan module to create a new test plan which is a good container for test specs.

2.In LIMS, I can use Test Specification module to create a new test spec. It is a great process management function module.And it combines functional modules such as Planning, Sample, and Equipment. 1/ the industrialized interface is not very friendly on the UI design

2/ The performace would be limited by the region in the world. Like China region, it would prefer to have better solution to solve it.
