Metrea is quantity takeoff and construction cost estimating software built for French construction cost consultants (économistes de la construction), quantity surveyors, engineering firms and project managers who price building works from the drawings they receive.
Most takeoff tools ask you to trace every room and every wall by hand. Metrea starts from the plan itself. Upload a vector PDF, a scanned or photographed drawing, a Word document with the plan pasted in, a DWG or DXF file, or an IFC model from Autodesk® Revit® or ArchiCAD. Metrea detects the levels and the rooms, reads the room names and the areas the architect wrote on the drawing, and proposes the missing areas, perimeters and ceiling heights from the room outlines. You review each room and validate it in a click.
Every quantity keeps its origin: written on the plan, measured on a validated outline, typed in by you, or estimated and still to be checked. Nothing reaches the estimate until it is validated, so every figure can be justified to a client, a contractor or a project owner.
From the validated takeoff, Metrea measures floors, walls net of doors and windows, ceilings, skirting, wall tiling, facades and partitions, room by room and level by level. It then builds a cost estimate by trade package, in three finish levels and fourteen French regions, and produces the documents of a French tender: the DPGF bill of quantities, the CCTP technical specifications, a colour-coded markup plan and an Excel takeoff whose totals are live formulas. When contractors send back their priced bills, Metrea compares the bids line by line on the same scope.
Projects change, and so do drawings. When the architect issues a new revision, Metrea compares it with the previous one and shows the impact on the estimate, with your adjustments carried over.
For BIM workflows, the Metrea plugin for Autodesk® Revit® sends the model to Metrea in one click, with its levels, rooms and the areas calculated by Revit.
Work as a firm. Colleagues join your workspace by invitation or with the firm's e-mail domain, with four roles: owner, project manager, quantity surveyor and read-only. Several people can work on the same project at the same time: the room being edited is reserved for whoever is on it, and every change is logged with its author. A version is frozen at each export, and the project can be rolled back to any earlier version. Each room goes through a validation workflow, surveyed, verified then validated, according to each person's role. Pro includes two seats and Cabinet five; a seat is added whenever a colleague joins and removed when they leave.
Metrea runs in the browser, with a French interface and nothing to install. Plans start at €149 per month on annual billing. Your first project is free, up to three plan pages, with no credit card required.
