Of all the major PLC development software Studio 5000 is the easiest to work with for both creating new programs and maintaining running systems. The visualization of online code, trending, and tag structure are top notch

**What do you dislike about Studio 5000?**

The only negative of this software is the massive cost associated to buying

Automation control, the software is user friendly and easy to get connected to live systems for troubleshooting and maintenance

  ### 2. Studio 5000 -Good Platform for learners

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Studio 5000?**

In Studio 5000, the main liked feature is finding and replacing the tags we assigned for the particular IOs. Also, we can quickly post modules configuration compared to other systems

**What do you dislike about Studio 5000?**

Most of the time system hangs due to program loading, which affects the SCADA screen operations when we work online or access the studio5000 program online.

**What problems is Studio 5000 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reliability and easy functional checks for the IOs is the most desired thing. also easy creation of tags and module configuration is an easy task for the beginers

  ### 3. Fully functional but way to expensive

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick D. | Systems Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Studio 5000?**

The best part of this software suite is that it is exceptionally easy to work with and begin development, a lot of other systems require more background work like address mapping which RSLogix manages for you.

**What do you dislike about Studio 5000?**

The cost of the software compared to any comparible platform is incredibly high and the competition has been catching up to some of the ease of use in the rockwell environment.

**Recommendations to others considering Studio 5000:**

Unless you have a very specific need to get the annual "Toolkit" subscription, look at purchasing lifetime licenses because it will save you a lot in a couple years. The technical support provided by Rockwell has become less and less available over the years.

**What problems is Studio 5000 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PLC Programming, integration of peripherals is typically a lot more simplistic.

It supports multiple Allen Bradley PLCs programming.

**What do you dislike about Studio 5000?**

It does not have a free version available, at least to view the logic of PLCs for troubleshooting in the process.

**Recommendations to others considering Studio 5000:**

Use in case of new controllers is being used in the process. Not suitable for legacy PLCs like Micrologix 1200

**What problems is Studio 5000 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ladder logic developments for PLCs used in process automation.

  ### 5. The best software to have for any manufacturing plant

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Studio 5000?**

Studio 5000 is the top program for any ladder logic needs. Everything is so seamless and there are endless options of equipment that can be used with it. I have been in controls for just a few years but I will be a lifelong Rockwell/studio 5000 advocate. I will always use Rockwell if I have a choice.

**What do you dislike about Studio 5000?**

Not much to dislike about it. In previous versions there were a few things that I thought could be a bit smoother. Minor things like multi window and tabs but the updates fixed all of that and now it's the most user friendly software that any programmer could ask for. Whatever it is that someone may dislike, there will be an update that will fix it.

**Recommendations to others considering Studio 5000:**

Just do it. You won't regret it at all. They are always making improvements and will always be #1 on the market. Anything you may think you need automation for, Studio 5000 is the way to go. It will support you and anything you may need.

**What problems is Studio 5000 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used it in almost every job I've had in automotive and distribution centers. The opportunities for integration and application are nearly endless. It doesn't matter what field you work in or service; you can always find a way to implement a little bit of Studio 5000 and other Rockwell products. There are endless benefits to using Studio 5000. Online editing couldn't be any easier. Also the amount of devices that can be used is outstanding and they keep making the list grow day by day.

  ### 6. Studio5000 has a better User Interface compared to others PLC suite

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jude O. | Controls & Applications Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Studio 5000?**

I like the character appearance on the Programming screens a lot. It is not as boring compared to other suites I’ve used. It’s easier to work on projects with a really clear display and easy to read.

**What do you dislike about Studio 5000?**

I hate the limitations to using AOIs. I want to be able to make edits anytime and all around my project. I dislike not been able to edit project online in AOI subroutines. I also hate that studio5000 crashes a lot working with IOs.

**Recommendations to others considering Studio 5000:**

It is better to consider your individual requirements before switching to studio5000. It is sure a great tool to use.

**What problems is Studio 5000 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it for my day to day troubleshooting and diagnosing of machine faults. I use it to design logics from scratch and so far, I have had little to no problem using it

  ### 7. I’ve been using studio 5000 for serval years now. The best software for programming out there.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Building Materials | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Studio 5000?**

Studio 5000 give you the flexibility to use almost anything you need to program from a simply to complex machines. The ability to use ladder, function block, structure text is nice. The help files and examples are a great tool when getting into unfamiliar situations. Very easy to learn too.

**What do you dislike about Studio 5000?**

I can’t say there is a lot of things I dislike about the software, I guess the one thing would be version 31 has a few bugs in it that cause small problems with the PLC not getting all the data. It would cause the machine to stop from not receiving an input on a remote IO. Very small glitch that was corrected when we flashed it to 32.

**What problems is Studio 5000 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have solve Numerous problems with communication and the ability to have multiple HMIs on the same equipment. Also being able to use our tablet to control the machine has been very beneficial to the operators. The other problems that studio 5000 help us with is PID loops, it is very nice to control all heat from the PLC and not a bunch of temp controllers everywhere.

  ### 8. Studio 5000 vs other platforms

**What do you dislike about Studio 5000?**

SFC language it's not good enough and sometimes working with strings data type Isn't easy as it should be.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew H. | Controls Engineer (CONTRACT), Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Studio 5000?**

The User Interface for Studio has always been very intuitive to me. Moreover the context-sensitive help is very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Studio 5000?**

The error codes could be changed to be actual error messages. Why should we have to go to the Rockwell Support website to look up what a fault code really means and the corrective actions required to fix the issue? Then depending on your access level (Tech-Connect versus standard user) you may or may not get enough information to correct the issue.

**What problems is Studio 5000 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to quickly replace older controls systems using newer Rockwell hardware and program it quickly and efficiently using Studio 5000
