What is Codility, and what problem is it built to solve?

Codility is a platform for assessing and advancing technical skills. It supports technical hiring, structured live interviews, and engineering teams’ visibility into internal skills to help organizations make evidence-based talent decisions.

What languages does Codility support?

Codility supports 10 languages: Chinese (Simplified), English, French, German, Japanese, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Codility the best fit for?

Codility is most often used by positive reviewers in enterprise and mid-market organizations, especially in software and technology-related fields. The strongest reviewer-reported clusters include:
  • Company size — Enterprise: The largest concentration of positive reviewers came from organizations with more than 1,000 employees.
  • Company size — Mid-market: Organizations with 51–1,000 employees were also well represented.
  • Industry — Software and IT: Computer Software and Information Technology and Services were prominent.
  • Industry — Financial services: Banking and Financial Services were also recurring fields.

How long does it take to implement Codility across a team?

Codility is most commonly live within a month, though teams report a range of implementation timelines. The other reported clusters include:
Time to go live Relative frequency
Under 1 month Most common
1–3 months Also reported
3–6 months Also reported
Over 12 months Less common

What customer support options does Codility provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support includes chat and phone assistance, with 24/7 live-rep support available. The experience is described as responsive and helpful, particularly for onboarding, setup, and resolving access or integration questions; users also value personalized guidance.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Codility from another tool?

Teams have moved to Codility from coding-assessment platforms such as HackerRank, HackerEarth, and CodinGame, as well as from simpler interview tools and screen-sharing workflows. The change has brought more structured coding assessments, live collaboration, and—in some cases—better fit with recruiting systems; switching reasons also include differences in flexibility, reliability, features, and value.

What features or capabilities could make Codility even more useful?

Codility could be more useful with broader options for specialized roles and a more capable coding environment. Recurring improvement requests include:
  • Expand the task library with more current, niche, and practical role-specific assessments.
  • Improve the coding environment with stronger debugging, testing, and developer-tool support.
  • Make custom task creation and assessment configuration more flexible and straightforward.
  • Provide clearer, more adaptable reporting and candidate feedback.
  • Strengthen tools for detecting and reviewing suspicious or AI-assisted submissions.

Is Codility considered safe and secure for handling data?

Codility’s security-related strengths center on assessment integrity: users describe similarity checks and activity tracking as useful signals when evaluating submissions. Those signals are not a guarantee that every form of outside assistance or copied work will be detected, and users value being able to review flagged results rather than treating them as conclusive.

"Extremely Customizable, Granular Settings & Great Automation"
5/5
What do you like best about Codility?

Codility is extremely customizable. The granularity of settings is extremely helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codility?

The only thing that I dislike about Codility is the automated follow up survey they send to candidates after interviews. There is no option to customize the questions, and some of the content they are asking candidates to answer is slightly invasive and subjective. You need to contact Codility directly in order for them to turn it off per test/interview. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An ExcelentTool for Assessing Programming Skills"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Codility?

What I like best about Codility is its ability to provide objective and accurate programming assessments. The platform offers a wide range of challenges that cover various areas of computer science, from algorithms to data structures. The automated and detailed evaluations help identify candidates' strengths and areas for improvement efficiently. Additionally, the interface is intuitive and easy to use for both recruiters and candidates. The detailed reporting feature is also very useful for post-assessment analysis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codility?

What I dislike about Codility is that, in some cases, the problems can be too similar to each other, which can limit the assessment of varied skills. Additionally, the difficulty of the challenges can sometimes be unbalanced; some problems are extremely difficult, while others can be too easy. I have also noticed that the integration with certain HR platforms could be smoother to enhance the hiring process. Finally, the cost can be a bit high for small businesses or startups with limited budgets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Web-Based Interviews with Great Code Highlighting and System Design Tools"
4/5
What do you like best about Codility?

The fact of being web based helps a lot, so that the candidates don't need to install any software nor the interviewer. The code highlighting for code interview and the graphical tool for system design interviews are also very good. There is no delay on the interactions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codility?

I believe that they haven't yet found the sweet spot for testing interface during the code interview, a better way so that candidates can create tests for their code should be on the horizon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

5/5
What do you like best about Codility?

Allows customization of tests to adapt to a real work environment evaluation. This involves using real use cases. Additionally, tools and languages useful for the work team can be used in the tests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codility?

In the time I've been using Codility, I haven't found a way to easily group the interviews I apply to. It's always necessary to search for them by the interview ID. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Standarization of Hiring metrics and measurement of skillset -Codility"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Codility?

The process of hiring and competency metrics to hire new candidates and Internal job rotations is difficult. Codility really helps in standardisation of coding skills to hire best suitable candidate for the role and minimising the personal bias. The metric and report for further analysis and maintaining records is added bonus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codility?

There is no way for customizing for internal job rotation roles. It would be good if the platform provides some APIs or interfaces for admins or users to create such customized setups. Just a genuine feedback for the creators of codility Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Predict the on-the-job performance of developers"
5/5
What do you like best about Codility?

One of the key strengths of Codility lies in its ability to predict the on-the-job performance of developers. Through its extensive library of programming problems and its proprietary algorithms, Codility can accurately gauge a candidate's proficiency in various programming languages, data structures, and algorithms. This predictive capability is invaluable for companies seeking to hire top talent who can quickly adapt to the demands of the job and contribute meaningfully to the team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codility?

Codility can be a costly investment for companies, especially for those with high hiring volumes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Skill Testing and Onboarding Tool"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Codility?

I use Codility to test my skills in design patterns, data structures, and LLD coding patterns, which helps me identify my pain points. It also assists me in creating onboarding problems relevant to the systems we work on. I like creating interviews for VS code style AI-assisted interviews using Terraform and tech stack-specific knowledge. When interviewing new hires, Codility allows us to see how they navigate the codebase in real-time and understand how comfortable they are with the tech stack and technologies we use. Also, the initial setup of Codility was quite easy, though it took some time to get the SSO link to activate my account. Overall, I think Codility is going in a good direction with their incremental development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codility?

I expected a dark mode in the website, but I can't seem to find one. It's hurting my eyes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
