There are a few quirks I noticed. For example, it once added a religious angle to a non-religious video, which was a surprise. The platform is also clearly evolving, so I expect small hiccups will be addressed over time. I use WhisperTranscribe on both my laptop and desktop, downloaded through SetApp but powered by my own OpenAI API key, and it works beautifully.

I primarily use it to transcribe meeting recordings, and it’s completely streamlined my workflow. What used to take multiple steps (record the meeting, upload it elsewhere, drop the transcript into a CustomGPT) now takes one. Just record, transcribe, choose your output, and start creating content.

What I really appreciate is the flexibility. WhisperTranscribe gives you a transcript and helps you shape that raw content into usable material, like social media posts, summaries, and quotes. For anyone doing regular content creation, especially social media, this saves so much time.

The app supports speaker labeling when you import transcripts (like from Google Meet), which is great. But if you record directly within the app, you won’t get speaker labels, naturally.

Not really a dislike, but more of a wishlist item: I’d love the ability to save favorite podcasts instead of searching for them every time, and syncing across devices would be a dream. Transcribing is not fun, especially if you're a qualitative researcher who has to do a lot of it! Whisper Transcribe has been a useful tool in this regard - I really like that the files on Whisper Transcribe are stored locally so it doesn't mean I am sharing sensitive data externally. I have used this for Hindi audio transcription to English text. The AI is not able to understand hindi fully yet - and sometimes the audio is not transcribed fully. This requires a lot of checking and re-checking, but still helpful to have some help with transcribing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
