"Great for a beginner VR developer!!"
What do you like best about Unity?

I like how easy and affordable Unity makes game development for rookie developers. I have 0 experience in game development but Unity has made it an absolute breeze and joy to learn. I have been very interested in VR my entire life, and only recently I decided to start playing around on Unity with my Oculus Quest. There were so many free resources online to help me and the tool itself is very beginner friendly that I never felt overwhelmed. I think what Unity is doing is great, and if you want to learn VR development specifically it's the only engine you should use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unity?

It is a bit slow on my computer sometimes, not sure if this is due to the software or my own computer. I am using a 2019 macbook pro so I think the software itself is a bit sluggish. Other than that I don't dislike anything yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An accessible, flexible & extensible powerhouse of a game engine!"
What do you like best about Unity?

Unity has the single largest userbase of any game engine, almost half a million active developers, which means any problem you run into, is almost certain to have a solution because someone else has probably run into it before. Add to that the intuitive UI and massive array of free and paid assets and you can make almost any type of game imaginable with Unity. This is why I'm using the engine on my own solo indie game dev projects. The results possible with Unity are simply staggering. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unity?

While some of the weak spots in comparison to the Unreal Engine like absence of a built-in visual scripting system have now been addressed (Hello, ''Bolt' scripting!) other things continue to require paid assets, there are a plethora of them but the cost does add up if you are trying to attain anything approaching AAA quality in the engine. That said, a lot of them were well worth it, so I am not really too upset. I will note that Unity has had a fairly slow and glitchy string of lighting systems over time, they've kept trying to improve things but it is still not all there. Maybe if they have any sense they'll acquire NGSS2 and Bakery as those are two of the best paid assets ccurrently filling the void left by the frequently problematic and not yet full-featured built in lighting and shadow system. "One of the best engines in the market to develop indie games"
What do you like best about Unity?

One of the best features of Unity is its ability to port to any platform be it iOS, Android, PC, Mac, Playstation, etc

The community is great and you can find all answers to your bugs on forums, it is a complete tool to make and maintain live ops games as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unity?

There are no particular downsides as such, if I have to then maybe, its lighting & graphics can be improved to match up for unreal engine 5. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unity?

There is some UI components related issues. Mostly related to scrollview and Text. But in unity store has different packages to solve some issues. Like Text mesh pro for text. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Big claims giant pitfalls"
What do you like best about Unity?

Of course, it having a free option is a giant boon, and it is relatively easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unity?

There is a lot to unpack here, so for starters, lighting is terrible, and if you are building an MMO you become plagued with issues as you do not have access to the back end of the software unless you pay a lot for it anytime they do an update it will break your older content that you then have to go back and fix so with every update you are wasting time to go back and then fix everything that broke there are also constant issues when saving builds it will crash constantly. You will have to kick off your build again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best game development engine out there"
What do you like best about Unity?

Unity is one of the best game engine out there, it provides all tools for beginners well as professionals.it has a store of itself which has a lot of necessary assets someone can use to build a game.unity also has multi platform support which makes it very convinient to build games for all different types of gaming systems from consoles to computers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unity?

The only thing unity lacks is stablization while the old versions are becoming stable but the latest release versions are not as stable. Unity also has a minor learning curve where in starting a persons needs some help but once used to it the game making process is fairly easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Currently the best game engine"
What do you like best about Unity?

I love that it is effortless to get into - and there are a vast amount of resources and communities to support you every step along the way. Also, it is a well-equipped and fully featured game engine to create any type of games - from @d mobile titles to AAA console games. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unity?

Currently, there are too many features that are half-baked and confusing. Also, it is surprising that a game engine of its stature still doesn't have (built-in) good lighting and a well-rounded networking system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
