What is Trello, and what problem is it built to solve?

Trello is a visual tool for organizing tasks and tracking work as it moves through a workflow. Teams use boards and cards to keep responsibilities, progress, and project details together instead of scattered across messages and notes.

What languages does Trello support?

Trello supports 21 languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Trello the best fit for?

Trello’s positive user base clusters most in small businesses, with additional representation from mid-market and enterprise organizations. Marketing and advertising, computer software, and information technology and services are also prominent industries among these users.
  • Company size: Small businesses — the largest cluster of positive users.
  • Company size: Mid-market — also represented among positive users.
  • Company size: Enterprise — represented across larger organizations as well.
  • Industry: Marketing and advertising — a prominent use context.
  • Industry: Computer software — another prominent use context.
  • Industry: Information technology and services — also well represented.

How long does it take to implement Trello across a team?

Trello can be quick to roll out, with the most common reported time to go live under a day. Some teams take longer, particularly when setup involves more work or broader adoption.

What customer support options does Trello provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support is available through email/help desk, chat, and self-service resources such as a knowledge base and FAQs. The support experience is mixed: users value helpful resources and responsive assistance, while others describe slow or unhelpful responses, especially for more involved issues.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Trello from another tool?

Switching to Trello from spreadsheets, email and chat threads, or more structured task-management tools is often driven by the appeal of a simpler, more visual way to organize everyday work. Users describe getting a clearer view of task status and ownership, with less setup and training; teams leaving Trello for another tool have also cited limits around complex workflows, reporting, and project views.

What tools and platforms does Trello integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Trello offers 30 integrations. Users connect it with communication, file and productivity, and project or developer tools to keep updates and work materials close to their task boards.
  • Communication: Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Gmail.
  • File and productivity tools: Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Workspace.
  • Project and developer tools: Jira, GitHub, and MuleSoft.

What features or capabilities could make Trello even more useful?

Trello could be more useful for larger or more complex work with stronger built-in visibility and structure. Common improvement requests include:
  • Richer reporting and analytics to make progress, workload, and project performance easier to assess.
  • Stronger task relationships and hierarchy for managing dependencies, nested work, and subtasks.
  • Better navigation on busy boards with more capable search, filtering, and ways to keep large boards organized.
  • More built-in capabilities for automation, planning views, and other workflows that currently lead teams to add-ons or upgrades.

How useful do Trello users find its AI features in everyday use?

Trello’s AI assistance can help with summarizing updates, extracting task details, and drafting or organizing work. Users describe it as useful for reducing repetitive setup and making information easier to scan, though suggestions may need review and the depth of the assistance can feel limited.
  • Summarizing and extracting information: turning lengthy discussions or task details into concise summaries and identifying items such as deadlines.
  • Drafting and organizing work: helping create task descriptions or checklists and arrange information into a clearer starting point.

"Seamless Workflow Management with Trello"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

My favorite thing about Trello is how easy it is to use and how well it collaborates with the entire team, allowing me to tag somebody and use my whole platform to share with the team. I also love that it's very clean to look at. Like, the entire board is just very easily read. Visibility is beautiful. I can easily use the cards to create a flow. I can use due dates and color code the board to know what needs to be started, what's in progress, and what needs approval. Several tools like that in Trello just make it super visibly easy to use and to make a workflow. I integrate Trello with Front and Slack, which makes it super easy to keep all of my work through Trello, but on my different integrations and platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

I don't have anything other than onboarding taking a bit of time, but once you're in and understand the functions, it's super easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple, Reliable, and Easy to Integrate"
4/5
What do you like best about Trello?

What I like most about Trello is its simplicity and flexibility. We used Trello as part of a MuleSoft integration to exchange task-related information between systems, and working with its REST APIs was straightforward. The API documentation was clear, which made it easier to create and update cards programmatically. On the user side, the board and card layout is clean and intuitive, so it was easy for both technical and non-technical team members to track work. Overall, it was reliable for managing tasks while also fitting well into our integration workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

As projects grow, boards can become a bit cluttered and harder to manage. Some advanced features are only available in paid plans, and while the APIs are easy to use, handling synchronization in integrations can take some extra effort. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Trello Keeps Our Operations Visible, Intuitive, and Moving Fast"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

Trello is the easiest way we've found to keep internal operations visible and moving. The board and card system is instantly intuitive — new team members pick it up in minutes with zero training. We use it to manage recurring workflows and day-to-day ops, and it keeps everyone on the same page without a lot of overhead. The automation features (Butler) have been a nice bonus for reducing repetitive manual steps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

For more complex projects with dependencies or timeline visibility, Trello starts to show its limits. It's a kanban tool at heart, so if you need Gantt-style planning you'll need to look elsewhere or use a Power-Up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visual Simplicity and Effective Project Management"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

I like using Trello because it just does what I need it to do, without being super complicated. The three columns for organizing prospects, work in progress, and finished projects are perfect for me. I've been using Trello for over eight years, and even though other teams prefer tools like Monday or HubSpot, Trello remains my go-to. I also found the initial setup super easy, allowing me to visualize all the moving parts in my projects effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

I would like to see a dashboard that is responsive to voice command. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple, Clean Drag-and-Drop Boards That Keep Daily Work Organized."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

Its simple drag-and-drop board system, which makes task management very clear. I use boards and cards to track my daily work and moving tasks between stages takes just a second. The UI is clean, so I don’t feel confused even with multiple projects. It integrates well with tools like Slack and Google Drive, which keeps everything connected. Performance is smooth and works reliably even with many cards. The free plan is quite useful, so it gives good value without needing to upgrade immediately. Onboarding was very easy and I started using it without any learning curve. Overall, it helps me stay organized and manage tasks efficiently every day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

It becomes hard to manage when projects get large. When I have too many cards and lists, the board starts to feel cluttered and difficult to track. Also, the free plan has limits on advanced features like automation and views. I sometimes miss more structured task management options like detailed reporting. It works great for simple workflows, but for complex projects it can feel a bit limited. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Trello: visual, quick to set up, and easy to understand for small teams"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

Trello is visual, you set it up in 30 seconds and everyone understands it at a glance without the need for training.

For a small team that doesn't want to complicate things, it's perfect, and on top of that, it's free for the basics, so you don't spend money until you really need it.

The integrations with Slack and email work well and you don't have to check every 5 minutes to see what's changed.

You can automate quite a bit with Butler and the Power-Ups connect you with other tools without costing much, although you have to get involved to see which ones work for you from all the options available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

When you have many cards, the board becomes slow and the search doesn't work well, especially if you need reports or productivity metrics because Trello sometimes doesn't make it easy for you and you have to export or use third-party tools.

Notifications sometimes falter and you find out about important changes late.

We sometimes fall into the mistake of adding too many cards and it eventually becomes a digital "dump" that no one looks at. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Tracking your daily progress and achieving your goals one task at a time."
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

I like being able to see exactly where I am in the workflow pipeline, and it also makes it easier to hold team members accountable. The intuitive UI and drag and drop feature makes it more fun, easy and fast to work with moving through the pipeline or leaving important notes. This makes the user experience more appealing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

At first it used to be the learning curve but once you get used to it, it's fairly easy and intuitive. Knowing how to create decent cards that shows all the needed information can take a little bit of exploring which honestly, isn't that much of a time but once you do, you'll create beautiful cards which makes completing your tasks much more fun. It's been way easier nowadays with new updates and features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Trello Keeps Projects Organized with a Simple, Visual Board"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

I’ve been using Trello for what feels like forever—for personal projects, professional tasks, and everything in between. It’s still the easiest way to see what everyone is working on without having to constantly ask for updates. I really like the board layout because it’s so visual: you can simply drag a card from “Doing” to “Done” and call it finished. It’s also one of the few tools I didn’t have to explain to my team; they just “got it” immediately. Overall, it never feels heavy or complicated, which makes it a great way to stay organized without the software getting in the way of the actual work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

It starts to feel a bit messy once a project gets really big. When you’re dealing with hundreds of cards on a single board, it becomes hard to find what you’re looking for, and it doesn’t have the deeper reporting you get with larger tools. I also wish more of the "Power-Ups" were built-in features by default. Having to add a separate plugin just to get a simple calendar view or track time feels like an unnecessary extra step that really shouldn’t still be there in 2026. "Simple boards that keep my team and my rental business on track"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

It's visual and dead simple — anyone can understand a board in 30 seconds, which matters when collaborators aren't tech people. Assigning tasks, setting due dates, and commenting on cards keeps everything in one place instead of scattered across texts and emails. The mobile app is solid for checking status on the go. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

Once a board gets big, it can feel cluttered — there's no great bird's-eye reporting without paid add-ons. Automation and integrations mostly live behind the paywall, so power users hit the ceiling fast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simplifies Project Management, but Lacks Advanced Features"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

I like Trello's very simplistic and easy-to-use UI. It's easy to learn automations with Trello, and I was able to quickly teach other employees how to use the automations and build out boards. Trello is very intuitive software that allows for straightforward automation. The setup process was very easy and took very little time, which made the rollout go a lot quicker for our team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

I think the overall capabilities of Trello lack compared to other project management software. The file management specifically can get a little wonky, and having ownership within sub-tasks gets a bit difficult. It's also not conducive to larger projects, so for big projects, we prefer using something that's more like a spreadsheet format. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
