## ThinkWave Reviews
  ### 1. NO support

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mary R. | Financial And Administrative Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2022

**What do you like best about ThinkWave?**

It is easy to use. We have many professors who input grades easily.

**What do you dislike about ThinkWave?**

It is easy to use, but there is NO support if you have a question. I have had 3 questions (just yes or no questions) since we started using it. The support page takes you to an email link. After multiple emails to them, I have yet to receive a return email. If you call the phone number provided, it tells you to send them an email! We will be switching to another system because of the lack of support.

**What problems is ThinkWave solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is useful as a gradebook tool, but the reports are not easy to customize and without support, the product is useless.

  ### 2. Solid gradebook with fantastic capability to share with students and parents

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandhya S. | ELA teacher, Primary/Secondary Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2019

**What do you like best about ThinkWave?**

ThinkWave allows for tinkering with the configuration that you give to each grading component (that is, whether it's graded on completion; check, check plus, check minus; percentages or points). You can allow students and parents to real time access to the student's grade, and periodically send PDFs via email to the student, parent, advisor, administrator, etc. This is FANTASTIC.

When having a meeting with a student regarding their performance and productivity, the tenor of a conversation changes drastically when you have a concrete printout of their grade. Everything becomes framed more objectively and less infused with emotion. You can allow a student to turn in missing work (or not), but to see that their grade did not magically appear from the heavens. There is a syllabus with a grading policy and this is how they performed. ThinkWave definitely made me a more effective teacher and boosted my students' discipline and work ethic.

**What do you dislike about ThinkWave?**

doesn't seem to be possible to share the gradebook (ie, a class you share) with co-teachers which then demands that you just give them your login and password. kind of frustrating because you're then giving access to your entire gradebook; it's not ideal.

**Recommendations to others considering ThinkWave:**

Pilot its use with a cluster of teachers in your department during your first go.

**What problems is ThinkWave solving and how is that benefiting you?**

my last school was not willing to spend the money on a platform like Skedula or Jupiter, which are fantastic because of their centralized features and capabilities, but the downside is the price. The benefit here is that it is FREE for individual teachers to use and it gets the job done effectively.

  ### 3. useful grading software, quick to set up

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erik D. | High School Science Teacher, Education Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2018

**What do you like best about ThinkWave?**

I like that I can email students and parents a pdf of the grade report, and the system allows for comments to be added for each grade that is input. thinkwave is pragmatic, quick to set up and effective. classroom management is typically easy improved once students understand that there is a transparent and objective system being used to assess their work and progress. I came to first use Thinkwave during the 2018-2018 school year because I was looking for an alternative after engrade became a for-pay service.

**What do you dislike about ThinkWave?**

cannot add co-teachers to be additional administrators for a class so you have to share login and password. this works but doesn't preserve the integrity of all of your other students' grades and privacy.

You also have to be careful to check the weight of assignments if you are assessing a task based on a check, check +, check - system. The first time that I used the software, assignments that scored a check (which is certainly satisfactory), were only being given academic credit at 50% of the weight of the task, which is failing.

**What problems is ThinkWave solving and how is that benefiting you?**

for a school that does not use an universal system (usually due to the cost of a platform like skedula or jupiter), this is an useful alternative, especially if you can get a whole-staff on board to use the platform.

  ### 4. Used ThinkWave for the past 3 years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2018

**What do you like best about ThinkWave?**

We only have 85 students so it was easy to get everything setup. It took time to get all the teachers posting their grades but we still were able to get progress reports and report cards out more or less from the beginning. Last spring ThinkWave created a custom report card for our school and we are vey pleased with how it turned out.

**What do you dislike about ThinkWave?**

It takes some adjusting to get everything up and running, setting up grade scales and and schedules, etc. But at the end of the year all the settings transferred to the new year so it git easier.

**What problems is ThinkWave solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a great system for our school to store grades and print reports.

  ### 5. Very slow, needs improvement

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2017

**What do you like best about ThinkWave?**

Not really anything. Just that my work pays for it for me

**What do you dislike about ThinkWave?**

Speed ,ease of use, features, organization, easy to keep track of people

**What problems is ThinkWave solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of housing students

  ### 6. ThinkWave is an online grading system that I've utilized for semester as a teacher.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael A. | Assistant Principal, Education Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2015

**What do you like best about ThinkWave?**

Thinkwave is very well organized. Setting up a class and monitoring the progression of your student is extremely easy. I really like the tab features at the top of the grade-book. These tabs make navigating the site for teachers, parents, and students a breeze.

**What do you dislike about ThinkWave?**

From a teacher's perspective I've enjoyed using grade book and found it to be a tool that is easy to use and manipulate. I have however received feedback from parent's and student's that the sight can be cumbersome and difficult to use. Parent's have complained that the site doesn't update grades when I update them online. I'm not sure if there is a delay in updating time but having immediate results for my school community is a must.

**Recommendations to others considering ThinkWave:**

Try out ThinkWave on their 30 day free trial and see if it works for you.

**What problems is ThinkWave solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grading programs serve the purpose of communicating grades and assessments to parents at home. The problem that this program serves is to bridge that gap of communication that exists between schools and households. The benefits I see from using this program is that I can grade assessments and give families instant feedback on how their students are doing in school. This allows parents to be active participants in their student's educational progress.
