**What do you like best about Squirrel POS?**

Generally very reliable and tech support has always been very helpful.  Hearing from employees that the system is generally easy to use.  As someone from the tech world, having detailed access to functions helps streamline the system, although instructions are clearly written by a programmer and not end user.

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

Some of the features require a fair amount of work to implement and can be confusing.  Some features don't appear to work as defined or provide no real apparent benefit (such as volume modifiers).

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There is no real problem.  This is a first time restaurant so a solution was chosen based on the company history and which restaurants were highlighted as users of the system.

**What do you like best about Squirrel POS?**

Squirrel has been a great solution for our hotel property. We have had the product since 2015, and just recently upgraded the hardware which was a seamless process. I have been very impressed with the product, software and support. Any time we had issues (which was far and few between), support was always there to resolve anything expeditiously.

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

Nothing comes to mind. It does everything we need it to do!

Screen customization, allows for multiple configurations using one item database

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

Lower level support is not great - wish there was more communtication on their end about how our system is set up so we arent havening to explain everytime there is an issue. Lacks in integration with outside products.

**What do you like best about Squirrel POS?**

Using Squirrel has completely redefined how I run my small business. It has helped us streamline our daily operations. It has eliminated the ordering issues we had experienced with our old POS sytem. It has helped reduce our food waste with better tracking options. It has allowed our kitchen to run smoothly, cutting down on meal wait times.

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

The initial setup was daunting, to begin with. I am not someone who deals well with change. I also am not comfortable with technology. Once we got through the start-up, things went far smoother. I am now ecstatic with the whole system. It was well worth the initial frustration.

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running low on certain items was always an issue for us. We now use the countdown feature, and it has eliminated that problem. We also have a daily lunch special option. We have a special that needs a $1.00 discount. With Squirrel POS, we have a $1.00 discount button that has streamlined our staff billing and is easily shown to the customer.

**What do you like best about Squirrel POS?**

Squirrel POS is so simple to use and edit on the fly , price adjustments and items edits or adds can easily be done right from the POS when bartenders and servers inform me of issues.

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

Sometimes editing mods/addons/combo pop-ups can be tricky, getting it to let me select flavors on wings or add-ons for baked potatoes followed by temps on steaks, some buttons let you click multiple some are solo some force you to click something learning these can take some time to configure these accurately, i now have access to Squirrels learning cafe and online help guides which when i took over this property i was unaware of.

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Squirrel POS has helped contain all 3 of my departments in one place, I run a restaurant, bar, and market inside of the hotel. the ability to offer different visuals for the types of departments works well for employees while allowing me to control all from one area

The system is easy to use, and technical support is typically very helpful.

Squirrel Enterprise reporting needs updating. The reports are not very useful, nor easy to manage from an Enterprise level.

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tablet service on Squirrel is exceptional. This has significantly improved our speed and steps of service, our flow and execution. It has also reduced our required services workforce and subsequent labour costs.

That they are local - with a head office in Burnaby, they are, for the most part, very efficient.

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

They have some annoying tiny items that pop up from programmers that have clearly never worked in the actual hospitality business

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When we switched to Squirrel it solved some major headaches for us as a company as the previous POS (Micros) simply stopped providing any sort of quality service.

No cloud solution for our growing restaurants, so YOU said find another POS and then wanted us to pay 6+ more months b/c of terms sign by prior owner 8 yrs ago

The way they nickel and dimed us when we were forced to find another POS like a shady gym membership that makes you jump through outdated hoops to "break up."

System integration with many other software. Easy setup, ability to set up menus, happy hour menu pricing. Easy of check adjustment and search of checks

Unable to pull employee cash out in date range for a specific employee.  Unable  to pull cash out the next business day
Unable to pull a tips summary report. complication on Wi-fi set up for tablet as POS Terminal

**What do you like best about Squirrel POS?**

Squirrel POS is used in all our locations and is stable, scales well, is consistent across all devices, is super customizable, and has the options (centralized menu and pricing, tablet POS, all the core POS functions) we need. Very satisfied.

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

It can be complex to set-up depending on the integrations you need, and some of the features do not have terrific documentation.

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our previous POS vendor was difficult to work with and we couldn't get the customizations and capabilities we needed without significant additional cost. Squirrel has helped us develop and grow not just in our POS capabilities but in areas like integrating online ordering and our gift card solution.

I haven't encountered anything negative; the only time I get a little disappointed is when my system doesn't work efficiently to split the invoices.But this is my individual; the problem I think

Entering Encore cards there are too many steps 
Doing a manual set up changes to system always takes way too long now

Right now we are trying to integrate Clover Flex with Squirrel.  It is costly to have to upgrade the system in order to have Pay At Table

That I own the equipment, there is really nothing else that I like about the system after owning and upgrading several times over the past ten years for multiple locations.

Tech Support, functionality, antiquated technology. Constant bugs and more bugs with updates to fix old bugs.

It has not solved only created new problems.

Does what we need it to do as a restaurant. Staff generally find it easy to use. Can split bills and move items easily.

The set up was absolutely painful. Months of miscommunication, rudeness and blame from certain staff on Squirrel's end. The tech assigned set up incorrectly and wasted a lot of our time going back and forth.

reliability is the best part of squirrel. rarely goes down

i think the fact that squirrel iq is not in real time renders it behind competitors apps. polling every 15 minutes and reporting in real time is the std.

How familiar everyone is with Squirrel in the industry. Makes it easy to train.

Lots of times, I have had to come in the middle of the night to resolve glitches.

The system is very easy to use especially for programming multiple departments. It is super easy to build a menu tree and with our 10 outlets that was a time saver

sometimes not enough online agents on the support website but call-in support is great. maybe have longer hours for online support as with our outlets starting at 7am and some going until midnight we need all hours support

choose what suits you in terms of support and ease of use/setup. you may find it cheaper but that is not the best reason to buy a product

in the beginning just the regular setup problems, sometimes I need printer setup or terminal freeze fixes. for the most part, if we add terminals or printers to outlets the support team is always quick to resolve issues

I HAVE BEEN USING SQUIRREL FOR YEARS NOW AND AM VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THE BOH SOFTWARE. I DO WISH THEY WOULD MAKE HANDHELDS MORE CONVIENENT.

NOT HAVING A DECENT HANDHELD DEVICE THAT IS ALL IN ONE. CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN SLOW SINCE THE PANDEMIC STARTED.

Squirrel is a stable POS. Once organized works well. Needs to move quicker in being compatible with handheld capabilities.

THEY ARE WORKING ON UTILIZING HANDHELD DEVICES, BUT NOT IMPLEMENTING A FULL SCREEN DEVICE THAT DOES IT ALL.

I like working with the Squirrel program, no dislikes, we have issues with interfaces occasionally, but easily resolved.

I highly recommend this system.  I have worked with a few different POS and this is definitely the easiest to use and program.

We like the function that enables us to determine sales on a time interval.  it has helped us determine opening and staffing needs and hours

Preparation ahead of data and actual PC swap was very smooth.  The prep team pulls the date ahead of time and the PC swap team shows up and performs the exchange without issues.

the process of setting up the implementation date with our team. The communication between sales and implementation is lucking.  wish the process was a faster time

Ease of Menu set up.

Sever was slow due to a hardware issue.  It's running faster now, I think we benefit from this upgrade by cutting down on wait time while performing admin work by our managers.

It's hard to dislike all the continuous upgrade possibilities but I'm stuck in my ways and can't keep up.

Easy of use and versatility. We've deployed it at two of our operations and have successfully used it for years

I suppose I'm not a huge fan of the network requirements

Menu changes can be a challenge with MLU and PLU's

**What do you like best about Squirrel POS?**

I can now accept all types of credit cards. The debits work very fast and there are no problems with the transmission of the data. The overview is very good and easy to understand. I can now accept and make payments anytime thanks to the good connection with the smartphone application.

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

The billing should be done monthly otherwise there are simply too many small payments and our accounting department has too many payments to control.

I can accept card payments without any problems - the acceptance of the different card types is excellent. The breakdown of the individual payments in the reports is easy to understand - we can generate more revenue.

Quite  frankly  I  don’t  like  it  all. It’s impossible to edit anything at any part of the order process. 

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

It’s set up is completely backwards than any other system I’ve ever used. Not to mention it’s totally out of date. It won’t even communicate with the opera system on discover cards and sometimes any credit cards. They have to then be voided out and must be comped which looks bad to your boss (as the server) and to the guest (for a voided or incomplete payment or under the impression that we only accept a handful of card types not every card type).  

**Recommendations to others considering Squirrel POS:**

Don’t do it. If you like constantly getting froze out of your system, or enjoy migraines then consider it. I highly recommend you trash the whole system and move on. 

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I literally can’t think of anything beneficial. It only causes problems, doesn’t solve them. Sometimes my checks disappear altogether or they’re frozen but when you try to open it, it says there’s nothing on the check. My printers are always reassigning themselves to other non existent routers. It’s a mess.

**What do you like best about Squirrel POS?**

The system works extremely sufficiently. My coworkers and I use this system without an problem. We can easily customize orders, and add special notes to the kitchen, as well as modify them afterward.
Moreover, it is secure. The use of a card to ensure that no customers or unauthorized personnel is extremely useful. 

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

The interface is pretty outdated. The computer is an old one, so the touch speed isn't up to par compared to using an iPad for example. Sometimes, the order doesn't send to the kitchen, setting us back.

**Recommendations to others considering Squirrel POS:**

Training is definitely needed first. 

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Restaurant service efficiency, customer service, optimizing communication between all employees. The restaurant would not run without it

**What do you like best about Squirrel POS?**

I love how easy and accessible it is when taking orders and how less time-consuming it is, using this system was amazing. I'd love to see this system expands to other restaurants in the future!

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

Sometimes we need to calibrate it at certain computers but I find it works best on a desktop computer then a regular squirrel computer.

To other restaurants as much as possible

To take dinner orders, check statistics and etc.

The simplicity makes it difficult to mess up once you are familiar with it.

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

If you aren't familiar with it, there are "dead ends" that can crash the entire restaurant if it happens at wrong time.

**Recommendations to others considering Squirrel POS:**

Be sure to emphasize the problematic "dead end" situations the servers absolutely must avoid (especially during a busy shift).

It definitely streamline's the menu and the kitchen staff finds it easy to work with.

Easiest software for my coworkers and I.  No problems using it and easier to navigate than other software I have used in the past. 

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

There is not much to dislike.  The system is pretty easy to use and figure out.  Not much training is needed for this software. 

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For customer service it is efficient and quick.  I like that it is easy to void and transfer.

I love the simplicity of squirrel. Their helpline for when things crash is really good and prompt too. 

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

Some actions are simple to perform and some are not. If you want to transfer a table to another server or transfer food and drink over, it's like a 8 step process. 

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Obvious benefits in the service industry are being able ring items in and have them print up at the bar or kitchen and printing bills.

It is so easy to use. Customizable. 24/7 help desk. Great Food & Beverage system!

**What do you dislike about Squirrel POS?**

For some reason updates seem to reek havoc on the system. Takes multiple restarts of the system to bring back online. Suggest updating before open or after close.

**What problems is Squirrel POS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I feel confident that the restaurants data is safe and secure. 24/7 help desk. It has streamlined our POS transactions.
