## ShareGate Reviews
 ### 1. Never want to live without SharePoint & Teams Migrations, Governance, and Reporting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darlene S. | Lead Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Besides being my go-to application for performing migrations, it’s also an essential tool for the administration and governance of SharePoint and Teams. I really appreciate the reporting and exporting features, which make it easier to manage and share the information I need.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I’d like to be able to refine the Permissions Matrix reports more easily by importing a CSV of the specific sites I want to report on. This would be a great enhancement when I need to choose a subset of sites from thousands, instead of having to select each site manually.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides discovery information when preparing for migrations and delivers critical details to support modernization efforts. ShareGate Protect also offers additional insights for governance. A key benefit of both tools is their actionable reporting, which helps admins quickly identify and resolve issues without needing to take extensive manual steps or write PowerShell scripts to automate the fixes.

 ### 2. I have used ShareGate for some time now and it never fails to disappoint

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie V. | Senior Sharepoint Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I’ve been really impressed with ShareGate, especially how much time it saves when working in SharePoint environments. The interface is intuitive, and it makes tasks like migrations, permissions management, and site restructuring much easier than doing everything manually.

One thing I really like is how quickly you can get visibility into your environment—whether it’s permissions, content, or structure—and take action right away. The reporting and governance features are also a big plus, especially when trying to keep things clean and organized across multiple sites.

Overall, it’s a reliable and efficient tool that simplifies complex SharePoint work and makes day-to-day administration much smoother.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Overall ShareGate is a magnificent tool. I wish the Powershell interface was a little more intuitive and easier to use, as it could become an extremely powerful and useful timesaving tool.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making migration easier especially when 3rd party tools are involved.

 ### 3. Invaluable tool for migration, with some caveats

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam B. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2023

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Can save time when migrating from one SharePoint site to another, taking with it permissions and other settings. The audit feature is helpful to prepare for a migration and prevent having to redo it.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The activation/deactivation process of licensing is difficult when you're on a secure setup and need to do it offline. Especially when something wrong happens during the process and you get stuck with an app you can't use because the licensing process broke. Support could not help me and just closed my case without resolution. Still in the process of fixing it.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Discovering what needs to be migrated, what issues need to be resolved before migration, useful reports. Saves a lot of manual work and time.

**Official Response from Eva Bloudoff:**

> Thank you for the honest feedback, Sam. Your organization has made specific security requests to disable some connected features, and we're sorry that this has created some frustration. We would love to collaborate on how to handle this in high-security environments, and a member of our team will reach out shortly.

 ### 4. A Versatile Solution with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonas B. | Service Owner Microsoft 365, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I like the versatility of ShareGate. It's like a Swiss army knife and good for a lot of things, especially in migration and reporting. I also value the custom reporting feature. The initial setup was very easy.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I don't like that multi-site migration and OneDrive bulk jobs can't run serialized using the GUI. Setting up batch-jobs that work with a multi-server load balancing system would be better, instead of having isolated servers that don't communicate. They also seem to have lost momentum by focusing on Exchange and Entra migration rather than making SharePoint migration best in class. And not including Apricot in the 5-user license package is a no-go.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ShareGate for migration and reporting. It's versatile, like a Swiss Army knife, and its custom reporting is valuable.

 ### 5. Efficient Migration, Intuitive Interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julien F. | Ingénieur systèmes, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I love the ShareGate interface, it's very easy to use. Even an untrained person can use it, and I find it quite effective. I find tenant migration with ShareGate efficient, whether it's from on-prem elements to the cloud or for data migration in general. For me, ShareGate is quite performant, especially after working on a migration of nearly 40 terabytes on-prem to Office 365 without limitations from ShareGate.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Today, it is a missing feature in ShareGate to allow the migration of workstations.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ShareGate allows me to migrate data efficiently to the destination tenant. The interface is easy to use, even for the untrained. The migration of large volumes of data, such as 40 terabytes to 365, went well, demonstrating ShareGate's performance.

 ### 6. Easy Data Management Across SharePoint and OneDrive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy D. | SharePoint Business Systems Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

ShareGate gives us the ability to manage and move data from SharePoint sites and OneDrive accounts. This helped a lot during the OneDrive cleanup that was needed due to changes made by Microsoft this year. Permissions reports on SharePoint sites helps keep management informed.

Secure and simple to integrate with our tenant. Updates to the server-based tool are regular and do not disrupt use of the system.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Teams management tools that we used to rely on were removed several months ago and have not (yet?) been replaced

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows management of orphaned OneDrive content when employees have left the company. A major OneDrive cleanup project earlier this year was done much more quickly and efficiently using ShareGate. It's used to copy and relocate SharePoint content from our on-premise farm to the online tenant, and to generate detailed permissions reports periodically for stakeholders. In the past, the online ShareGate tool was used to manage externally shared content and orphaned Teams.

 ### 7. Intuitive UI and Clear Reporting Make ShareGate a Must-Have

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert R. | SharePoint Solution Developer, Government Administration, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2018

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I find ShareGate's overall UI very intuitive and easy to navigate, which makes my tasks straightforward. I particularly appreciate the reporting on data migration success; it's clear and concise, so I don't have to search around in the UI to find the specific task I'm trying to accomplish. ShareGate also provides a description error and links to ways to resolve issues when certain items don't migrate successfully. The installation instructions are clear, and the upgrade process has been seamless.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I would like the ability to create SharePoint list migrations without list data (i.e. schema only) without having to select deselect the list data option in the current defaults.

**Recommendations to others considering ShareGate:**

Must have if you are migrating from one version of SharePoint to another piece by piece

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ShareGate migrates our SharePoint 2019 List data to SharePoint Online. I find the UI intuitive, and the reporting on data migration success helps resolve issues efficiently.

 ### 8. Best SharePoint migration tool in the business

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tiago D. | Microsoft 365 Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

ShareGate allows us to perform cross-tenant migrations with little effort. Whether the content is in another M365 tenant, a local file share, google drive or an on-premise farm, ShareGate will be able to migrate it and not only migrate it, but do so efficiently without a steep learning curve. For scripted migrations, we have full access to the API via PowerShell. The growing suite of analysis tools give ShareGate a constant bump in value. The Permissions Matrix report in particular is a must-have to understand and plan for the migration of permissions and it can run this on huge sites in a matter of seconds. There is also the option to run a test migration or "what if" which allows us to figure out what may go wrong before we perform the actual migration.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

If you are a highly specialized consultant and you bump into a problem with ShareGate, the support line is there and they will help for sure. However, I personally feel that most of the time spent in support is to explain a problem to an entry-level support agent before it gets escalated to the technical team. This often makes it so that I have to repeat everything and demo the problem again to multiple people. This is an area that ShareGate could definitely improve. There are also a couple of feature requests that the community has asked for again and again, such as the ability to Move (not copy) content, that have yet to be made available (fingers crossed).

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With ShareGate we were able to migrate our legacy SharePoint system to SharePoint Online.
We are also able to migrate rogue content from network drives and google drive seamlessly.
The ability to run permissions matrix reports and the ability to copy the structure of a list or site make it also a powerful tool for business analysis and same-tenant content migration.

 ### 9. Effortless, Reliable Migrations—ShareGate Exceeds Expectations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter B. | Application Support Admin, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Using ShareGate to migrate our legacy file shares into Microsoft 365 has been an outstanding experience from start to finish. The tool delivers exactly what IT teams need during a complex data migration: simplicity, reliability, and full transparency throughout the process.

ShareGate’s interface is exceptionally intuitive, making it easy to assess source environments, map permissions, and configure migration jobs without the usual headaches often associated with large-scale data moves. Even with nested folder structures and inconsistent legacy permissions, ShareGate handled everything smoothly, preserving metadata and ensuring a clean transition into SharePoint Online and OneDrive.

Performance was consistently strong—migration speeds were impressive, and the built‑in reporting provided clear insights into progress, issues, and post‑migration validation. When unexpected file conflicts or policy issues arose, ShareGate presented actionable recommendations that saved hours of troubleshooting.
Beyond the technical capabilities, the time savings and reduced risk were the biggest wins. What could have been a complicated, multi‑week project became a structured, stress‑free process thanks to ShareGate’s automation options and smart checks.

If you're looking to modernize file storage and move confidently into Microsoft 365, ShareGate is an invaluable tool. It’s reliable, efficient, and built with real‑world migration challenges in mind. Highly recommended.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Im yet to find a downside of this tool, might be good to see further pre-writen report to help better manage 365 sites

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its allowing us to unpick our legacy file file and migrate whats still required

 ### 10. Ease and Efficiency in Site Migration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo A. | Especialista TI, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I like ShareGate for its ease of use, which makes my work easier. Additionally, I highly value the reports it offers, as they allow me to see how the migrations have been carried out and the large number of reports available.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The cost perhaps, but I understand that it is expensive but it also provides a lot.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ShareGate allows me to migrate sites, content, and their permissions without issues, with the option to customize my migrations. Its ease of use streamlines my work, and the reports detail how the migrations went, providing a lot of information.

 ### 11. All the tools you need for easy SharePoint migrations and tenant management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Corey M. | Lead Business Systems Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I use ShareGate for SharePoint migrations. It makes it easy to copy content from on-prem to cloud, whether the content is in a SharePoint instance, file shares, or other location. It is particularly great for mapping permissions and metadata. The reposts are useful to identify errors or content that needs additional remediation after copy. Delta copy is super helpful when migrating active sites.
Installing the software is easy, and you can manage your subscription and authorized users through the web interface.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Having to sign in every time you connect to a cloud location via browser authentication. Not sure that this is actually a ShareGate issue, though. It would also be helpful if you didn't need a server extension installed to maintain item IDs during the copy process.
Another pain point is that it's not straightforward to roll back from an update when there are issues. I would like a revert option for updates.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ShareGate facilitates our SharePoint migrations from on-prem to cloud, but it also provides the ability to report on many different use case scenarios including stale content, last modified, permissions, and workflow associations. I also use it for bulk metadata updates for list and library items, exporting large document libraries for archiving or system integrations, and for annual permission audits.

 ### 12. Effortless SharePoint Management with Intuitive Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard S. | Head of Cyber & Infrastructure, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

ShareGate makes managing SharePoint much easier. Its intuitive interface means that very little training is needed to get started. In our organization, we rely on it for tenant audits, reviewing permissions, and migrating content. What used to take us hours can now be completed in just minutes. The reporting tools also provide clear insights into our environment, eliminating the need for PowerShell scripts.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The licensing model can become expensive if you require several administrators. Additionally, certain features we assumed would be included in the base product are only available in the premium tier. From time to time, updates alter the interface layout, leading to a short period of adjustment.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing SharePoint at scale often leads to blind spots, but ShareGate has helped us eliminate them. We now enjoy clear visibility into permissions, external sharing, and inactive content throughout our tenant. Compliance audits that once required days can now be completed in just a few hours. Our team is able to respond to governance queries with precise data rather than relying on best guesses.

 ### 13. Effortless Cloud Migration and Data Analysis with ShareGate

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aileen G. | System Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I use ShareGate for our cloud transformation for our on-prem file server and personal folder and it's a big help as I don't need to create PowerShell script or do a manual upload of the data. The migration steps are easy although I haven't tried mapping user for example in the meta data. I have also used the application in analyzing data on-prem in preparation to the migration. As this can detect if a folder will exceed the 5000-threshold limit or if the file name is too long.

It's also easy to contact the support since you have launched your AI support as well. It gives the exact information I need.

I am also using the application, to check permission of a SharePoint site and to check if there are legacy security group that was used to grant access to sites.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

What I dislike is sometimes, even though the migration is completed, I can still see that the job is running, and the completion time/date is not yet finalized. I am not sure if the problem is within Sharegate or Microsoft.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Definitely it helps me in my migration from on-prem to cloud and migration of OneDrive from one geo-location to another.
Soon as the ShareGate Protect is promising, it can help me in my project for "Data Sharing Management in OneDrive".
As it can detect files that are over shared as an example.

 ### 14. Effortless Migration with ShareGate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joakim T. | Platform Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I use ShareGate mostly for migration and some reporting functionality. It's great for solving issues with transferring files from file shares to M365 or SharePoint SE, especially with timeouts and permissions. What I like most about ShareGate is that it's fast and easy to use. I also appreciate that it's possible to customize options when migrating. Overall, I really like it the way it is :)

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Nothing, really.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ShareGate mainly for migration tasks and some reporting. It mitigates issues with timeouts and file transfer errors when moving files to SharePoint. It's fast, easy to use, and allows customizing options during migration.

 ### 15. SharePoint migration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SITHARTHAN M. | Database administrator and SharePoint administrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2023

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

=> File Share - SharePoint migration
=> SharePoint to SharePoint migration
=> One drive to SharePoint
=> One drive to One drive
=> ShareGate powershell for bulk migration
=> Schedule migration and report generation
=> Suport team assistance

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

=> Need support team appointment for critical and emergency support.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting support on unknow things on Sharegate from support team. But need to get quick support team appointment for emergency / Critical support

 ### 16. Functional Decline, Lacking Support

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jens M.

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I appreciated ShareGate for its permission matrix report, which provided a good overview of permissions on SharePoint sites. I liked being able to archive sites to reduce SharePoint cost and the periodic review feature, which reminded site owners to categorize or archive their sites. Previously, I found features like site templates, site categorization, access reviews, and sharing reviews to be useful in making our SharePoint more manageable.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Their archive functionality is useless. It only retains files, not data in lists so we lost a lot of data. Restoring data from their Archive feature is also completely broken, you have to restore folder by folder. you cannot restore all files from a site. Also, restores to OneDrive fails on large files. And their support staff is not helpful in recovering data although data is a critical asset in any company.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ShareGate helps by providing a good overview of permissions on SharePoint sites and allows us to archive sites to reduce costs. It also sends periodic reviews to remind site owners to categorize or archive their sites, which makes our SharePoint more manageable.

 ### 17. ShareGate Migrate: user-friendly for beginners, powerful for experts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

ShareGate transfer: for any "on-premises" transfer operation to MS365, or for many cloud-to-cloud MS365 operations, Transfer is the best tool. User-friendly enough for a novice, and powerful enough for a guru. We have been using it for over ten years!

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The licensing model and cost structure are becoming more complex, Protect per user is not affordable for a context like mine.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transfers of lists or libraries, scheduled transfers and reports saving a lot of time, occasional interventions to resolve permission issues, copy any SharePoint or Teams resource (well, except shared channels) to anywhere in MS365...

 ### 18. Effortless Migrations and Outstanding Support with ShareGate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sunny V. | Director of Technology/Applications, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

We’ve been loyal ShareGate customers for years because the product is intuitive, reliable, and makes migrations effortless. Their customer support is exceptional—responsive and knowledgeable—and the pricing offers great value compared to alternatives.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The only area for improvement would be providing more in-depth training materials or enhanced video tutorials for a smoother onboarding experience.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ShareGate helps us simplify M365 management by addressing key challenges like monitoring external sharing, fixing broken permissions, and streamlining migrations—from on-premises to the cloud and from classic SharePoint to modern sites. It has also enabled us to rearchitect our SharePoint environment for better structure and usability. These capabilities save time, reduce risk, and ensure a smoother transition for our users.

 ### 19. Effortless Migrations and Time-Saving Reports with ShareGate

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

ShareGate is incredibly easy to use. The interface is straightforward and simplifies tasks that are usually complex, such as SharePoint and Teams migrations.

The migration process is reliable and smooth. The reporting tools—especially for permissions, cleanup, and pre-migration checks—save a lot of time and help avoid mistakes.

The upsides of using ShareGate include fast, stress-free migrations and helpful cleanup and governance reports that make managing environments much easier. It’s very user-friendly with almost no learning curve, and it consistently saves hours of manual work.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Some features feel limited when dealing with very large or complex environments. At times, you need to run multiple passes or perform manual checks to ensure everything transferred exactly as expected.

The reporting can be a bit basic in certain areas—especially if you’re looking for deeper analytics or long-term monitoring. It’s great for quick checks, but not always for detailed, ongoing governance.

The downsides of using ShareGate include occasional struggles with very large or highly customised migrations and some limitations in its advanced reporting and analytics. It also requires a desktop app rather than offering a fully cloud-based version, and the licensing cost can be a bit high for smaller teams.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ShareGate solves the complexity of migrating and managing SharePoint and Microsoft Teams environments. It streamlines tasks that would normally require a lot of manual effort—like moving sites, fixing permissions, cleaning up outdated content, and reorganising Teams. By automating these processes and providing clear reports it reduces the risk of errors, speeds up migrations, and makes ongoing governance much easier. Overall, it saves time, improves accuracy, and reduces much of the stress of managing Microsoft 365 environments.

 ### 20. Effortless Migration with Powerful Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob W. | Senior Enterprise Unified Communications Engineer

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I really enjoy using ShareGate's GUI for small, one-off migration tasks of sites and libraries. For larger migration projects, I love the PowerShell cmdlets because they allow me to run tasks faster and unattended. Setting up ShareGate was very easy; I just needed a login and the URLs for the source and destination sites. Additionally, ShareGate offer tutorials, examples and weekly live training sessions for beginners and experts alike.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I find it frustrating when using the GUI for multiple moves because I have to drill back down every time for the source and destination. I would prefer an option to back up a level. It seems like when doing multiple moves from the same site, the interface forces you back to the top, and it would be better to start from the last location.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ShareGate for migrating from SharePoint 2010 to Teams and M365 SharePoint, solving permission mapping for proper data transfer.

 ### 21. Great, easy to use versatile tool.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandor M. | Sharepoint Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2022

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Great support to migrate Google Workspaces. We have a lot of them.
Also love sensitivity label retention.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Some of the error definitions are still not quite clear however this has been improved recently.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find it the best SharePoint migration so far available on the market.

 ### 22. Easy, User-Friendly Tool for Up to Five Machines

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve R. | IT Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

It easy to use very user friendly and can be use in about 5 machines.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Even though its new I wish there were more features.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped me with copying over mail boxes from tenant to another.

 ### 23. Great tool to manage MS Teams before the updates

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2023

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I used to really like the clean interface for managing Teams and simple ways to migrate contents. But after the updates, I am not sure where everything is...

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The features are great but I am not using most of them.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With COVID-19 and work-from-home policy implemented, we released MS Teams to users without much instructions and management plans. In result, we had a huge mess. ShareGate help us see the health of our Teams' environment in dashboard and made it easily manageable with a few clicks. The migration tool was absolutely necessary since Microsoft doesn't offer an easy out-of-box solution for move the SharePoint contents. We use the migration feature all the time because our intranet keeps changing and evolving. 2025: We are currently not using the migration features. Teams management tool was really helpful but updates made UI pretty confusing.

 ### 24. Nice Support and a SharePoint Life-Saver Beyond Migration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

The support team is nice.

The fact that ShareGate doesn't only help us to migrate but makes our life easier to handle some options that are not easy to manage quickly on SharePoint

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

It's not really a dislike, but I would like to have a web app, to not have to use our servers to migrate from cloud to cloud.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly, it helps us migrate tons of files when we can't do it by hand.

 ### 25. frustrating and disappointing

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James W. | Information & records Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

very little, it was useful at the start but the help desk being in a competely different time zone with no local coverage means that I have never had a help satisfactorily answered

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

no local helpdesk, no real upgrade to the base system. Every enahancement is behind a new paywall or license fee

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it allows me to manage my environment, but there are plenty of other platforms available now that do the same thing so I am seeing a diminishing benefit

**Official Response from Eva Bloudoff:**

> Thank you for the honest feedback, James. This experience is not what we hope for our customers, and we want to address this right away. A member of our team will reach out shortly to learn more and make things right.

 ### 26. Intuitive UI and Valuable Training Make ShareGate a Standout Choice

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason S. | SharePoint Administrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I like the UI of the tools from ShareGate. They look great, are easy to use, and offer a great value. I also enjoy the additional training and Q&A sessions from the pros. Those help me better use the tools and plan ahead.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I dont like having to share how much it costs with my supervisor at the beginning of each year. I think its a great product but it is a little costly.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This tool addresses all our migration and reporting needs within our environment. It saves me time and provides valuable information that I can use for reporting.

 ### 27. Effortless Data Migration Between Tenants

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

The easy way it can migrate data from a tenant to another

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

There are some missing features that I'd like to see like 1:1 chat messages migration

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped us a lot to migrate some data to a complete new tenant

 ### 28. Efficiency Boost with Few Hiccups

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam B.

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I like ShareGate for its interface and ease of use. It really makes my SharePoint migrations and site reports simpler. I also appreciate the feature that allows scheduling migrations to run when convenient. Additionally, the initial setup was very easy for me.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The speed of migrations can be long, and if a migration crashes or errors halfway through, it would be good to be able to kick off from where it stopped rather than start the whole thing over again. Large migrations can take more than 24 hours which can interfere with business functions during the day, so it would be good to have a pause option on migrations so they are done only out of hours.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ShareGate for large SharePoint migrations, keeping metadata and permissions intact, cleaning up orphaned users, and generating user-friendly permission reports for audits.

 ### 29. Simple ShareGate Review

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

technically, the connections need to be refreshed a lot, but don't believe this is a restriction of ShareGate

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data migrations, consolodations, re structuring and benefiting due to speed and efficiency

 ### 31. Effortless SharePoint Migrations with Robust Community Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raheem K.

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I like ShareGate's easy UI; it really makes our migration and support processes easy and fast. I also appreciate that it has a very large community in the world, which means a problem can be solved quickly by simply asking. The initial setup was very easy and straightforward, with enough documentation provided to help us out.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I don’t like the migration speed in general, and I'm concerned about warnings on getting throttling. I think there could be better and easier logs, and I'd like to see the ability to export from tasks to another machine.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ShareGate for migrating data from local network drives and SharePoint Online to another SharePoint site. It's the only tool that can do that easily, with its easy UI and large community support making migration fast and easy.

 ### 32. Saves Time on Migration and Administration

Migration, time saving

 ### 33. Great Pricing and an Intuitive, Easy-to-Use Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Great pricing, and the tool is fairly intuitive and easy to use overall.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The ability to dynamically add a user as a site collection admin to run a report or job is useful, but it doesn’t remove the permissions afterward.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Sharegate to migrate all of our on-prem SharePoint content to the cloud, and we also use it to maintain our cloud content—for example, when moving from classic to modern.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Nothing found at this time. I haven’t run into any problems so far.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped me multiple times with exporting data out of our tenant and bringing data into our tenant, especially when migrating from on-premise to SharePoint Online.

 ### 36. “A Reliable, No-Nonsense Migration Tool That Delivers Every Time”

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I’ve been a long-time ShareGate customer, and after using it to migrate a significant amount of data from on-premises environments to Microsoft 365, I can confidently say it remains one of the most dependable and user-friendly tools in the market.

Straightforward, intuitive interface
Reliable migrations—even at scale
Deep insights and reporting

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

While ShareGate is an excellent tool overall, one area that could use improvement is the speed of very large migrations. For extremely high-volume or complex moves, performance can slow down—especially during peak operational hours.

It’s still far quicker than manual methods, but a boost in throughput or additional optimization options would make the experience even stronger.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Examples of Real Value

Large library migrations that would have taken weeks manually were completed in a matter of hours with full metadata preservation.

Restructuring SharePoint sites before moving to the cloud was effortless thanks to ShareGate’s drag-and-drop reorganization tools.

Permission mapping, which is typically tedious, became a quick step thanks to ShareGate’s clear and automated permission alignment options.

 ### 37. Sharegate, fundamental tool for the secure migration of information

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Camilo A. | Software Licence Administrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Perform the information migration process securely without encountering issues with permissions and long paths, allowing the process to be expedited during the information migration.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

In large migrations, ShareGate may require significant CPU/RAM resources and extended runtime (when migrating many items or data)

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ShareGate is a tool that allows us to perform migrations where the source or destination must be SharePoint. It not only allows migrating the content but also the structure, which has enabled the technology office to reduce time and maintain the organization of the content to be migrated.

**Reviewed by:** Navya K.

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I love the easy way to get reports and the ability to transfer content without losing any metadata using ShareGate. It saves me a lot of time because manually transferring content is time-consuming and can cause metadata loss. Also, the initial setup of ShareGate was seamless with no hassles at all.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Access to modern SharePoint Sites is still not that user-friendly.

That Sharegate is not free for everyone!

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are quickly moving SharePoint 2013 to the Cloud, as this transition is essential for enhancing both security and operational efficiency.

 ### 44. Effortless SharePoint Migration with ShareGate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I didnt have anything I disliked with Sharegate

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had to move our entire 2019 SP to online and it had thousands of sites, and subsites. The ability to map properties, just copy the files or more if needed have been invaluable. Even after we finished the migration we still use it to archive sites (Teams included)

 ### 45. Needed to migrate one SharePoint content to another

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sergei D. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

The easy of use, was simply pointing one content from the old SharePoint to the new SharePoint. Simply had to install the application, login and point the URL's.

It was very easy to use and there was a large number of documented features.

Implementation was simple - Install and go.

We only had to use it for the one client so frequency of use was only for the one customer.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Cost of the license was high and for irregular use makes it hard to subscribe to it.

Pay as you go might've been more enticing as we don't get a large number of use cases where ShareGate is needed.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The speed in which the task was completed. TO complete a manual migration would've taken a large number of hours and brain power - with ShareGate it was a pre clicks of a button.

At times, the performance can be sluggish, and the application occasionally appears to hang.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**
