&lt;p&gt;In legacy administration the feature you need most is the one the industry keeps removing. Modern clients drop old ciphers and key exchanges for perfectly good security reasons, and every one of those removals can lock you out of some ancient appliance that will never see a firmware update again. Anyone who&#39;s upgraded their SSH client and suddenly couldn&#39;t reach a ten-year-old switch knows the feeling. So for mixed legacy environments I&#39;d evaluate less on the protocol list and more on this: does the tool keep deprecated crypto available, clearly marked, as an opt-in? For legacy work, a long memory beats a long feature list. Has a client update ever locked anyone here out of gear mid-incident?&lt;/p&gt;
