And most importantly the support, even for the free version, is well beyond expectations! Support means everything to me as a solo blogger. Shareaholic is top-notch! **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** Some of the set up is a bit complicated. But it's doable. **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** My Shareaholic crashed and the support team (Jay) found that it was a JS problem from my caching plugin. I would've never discovered that one. ### 2. Great Tool In Theory! Unfortunately, this feature is broken and I have yet to receive support rendering the tool useless! **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** The ability to create a custom domain for your URL shortener is broken. I have opened a support ticket and have not heard back from them in over a month pretty much rendering their tool useless to me. **Recommendations to others considering Shareaholic:** Not until they fix the bugs and increase their support response time for support tickets. **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** Shareaholic won't respond to any tickets opened with a paid account. Support tickets have been open for over a month. ### 4. I allowed them to get into my site to fix and issue and they LITERALLY fixed and update the plugin for everyone. There are so many features to the sharing which is way more than I expected. **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** So far so good! I can't think of anything I don't like about it. Currently on a sub domain until it goes live but all is good during development. **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** The ability to share based on my preferences and easy setup. ### 5. I got in touch with their support team to find a resolve. A pleasant guy by the name of Jay replied back and was very eager to help. What I didn't realize was that Jay is the developer and wrote the software. He quickly diagnosed the problem and turns out my site was experiencing a completely different problem that I wouldn't have caught in a million years. The guy ran through hoops to help me and I'm completely impressed with the plugin interface too, as it's easier than most to navigate. I am upgrading to the paid version because the developer stands behind his work and beyond. **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** Nothing to contribute here...sorry. But I'll let you know if I do. **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** The product is backed by the developer who is obviously trying to create a win-win. ### 6. But what I was most impressed with is that I was able to easily and effectively communicate with the developer to ask questions. The feature I was most interested in (Related Posts) did not work well with my type of site, which is stock images (www.kozzi.com). I talked to Jay and we were able to make a simple modification to their algorithm that made the results excellent. This modification will make it in a future version. **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** From what I read in the documentation, you are able to apply CSS styling to fine-tune the related posts display. What I would like to see in the support documents are examples that I can cut and paste to further refine the final look. **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** I really needed a Related Posts plugin that was more than the standard Wordpress function. I needed a true related posts based on not only tags or categories, but site title and body text. As the site I am building will be tens of thousands of pages, and built for SEO, I need it fast. Shareaholic uses an innovative Cloud-based concept with its own spider to create a robust service that also reduces server load. ### 7. I really appreciate Jay who literally hand-held me through the process of setting up the plugin (and I am not at all a technical person!!!) - and voila everything worked just fine! I know with my free plugin, I am not entitled to that much time and patience from a support agent (I did get the bot at first), but more than getting things sorted, the very fact that Jay was determined to help me through this was most appreciated! **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** Nothing to dislike! Oh, I did hate the bot at first, but that was quickly sorted and I got a human! **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** Problems: the free plugin wasnt recording all the FB likes. Benefits: With the plugin working like a charm, my site now looks so much better! ### 8. However, what is most important is that they have a great customer service. Very fast and very kind. Once I had a problem that I couldn't figure out that was connected not with the app but with my website they didn't just give me advice of how to solve the problem, they personally took care of the problem. This is not common at all. **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** I don't think there is something that I dislike. **Recommendations to others considering Shareaholic:** Personally for me the most important part is being able to communicate with the people who make the app when there is a problem. He was so helpful and quick to respond. I switched to Shareaholic because I loved that it could pull old social shares and combine them with new totals when I switched to https. This product was so easy to use and set up - even someone scared of HTML like me can do it. **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** So far I haven't found anything that I dislike with this product **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** This is giving me combined social shares from before and after I switched to https which wasn't something the other share service I was using could do. All those years of sharing lost if it wasn't for Shareaholic. Their customer service has been helpful and quick to respond. ### 12. I also like that it has other features like related posts feature. **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** It stopped showing the number of Twitter shares, I am on the free plan so not sure if it's working for the paid version. **Recommendations to others considering Shareaholic:** If you have no sharing buttons on your website content then this is a great free option. **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** It makes my content on my blog easily shareable which helps me build my audience. ### 13. It's great! **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** A year ago, everything was fine. Support tickets were being answered, earnings were being added to accounts and being paid out. But since December it has all gone downhill - Earnings have stopped being added to accounts, people have complained about not being paid out their earnings, and worst of all - There is no support whatsoever for free users, as all support tickets now go IGNORED. I sent a support ticket over a month ago and I'm still waiting! **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** They have social buttons, that's good I guess. But if you want to use Shareaholic to monetize your site, then DON'T. Because you will never see a single payment. ### 14. It does, however, take some added server configuration which my (shared) hosting company were happy to carry out. * I like how it displays the social share buttons depending on which theme block you want to use it in. * I also like the sliding share buttons I have implemented on the left of the page. **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** * I really do not like the related content links to other websites. * Most often they are completely irrelevant and somewhat bring the overall 'ambience' of the site down. * I do not like seeing them on other sites either, they are distracting, of low quality (mostly) and unnecessary. I do however realise they are a revenue attracting tool but even that doesn't change my mind. **Recommendations to others considering Shareaholic:** Watch for the related and promoted content settings and the advertisements that are shared as part of the experience. I find that they are often of low quality and I don't use that function for that reason. If they were more tastefully screened I would be happy to implement it. **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** * I needed dynamic share buttons facilities and Shareaholic does not let you down in that department. * They work very well with my chosen responsive theme across all devices. * You can place them where you want them to be in relation to your content types in Drupal 7. * At this stage, there is no Drupal 8 version available which is something I hope they implement very soon as I am also developing a D8 website. ### 15. I really like the share function as it looks nice and keeps them on my site when sharing. **What do you dislike about Shareaholic?** I do not like the 3rd party links. They choose trashy links that don't fit my brand or are even remotely similar to my posts. I don't want to see shark attacks and weird photos under my DIY posts. **What problems is Shareaholic solving and how is that benefiting you?** Shareaholic solves a traffic and time-on-site problem For the most part, it keeps user on your website and shows them more links to other pages on your site.
