Before using it, teachers often felt like they were “flying blind” — they could assign work online, but had no way to know who was actually doing it without walking around constantly. Now, with Securly Classroom, teachers can see every student’s screen in real-time, freeze screens when they need attention, and even open tabs or push websites directly during a lesson. It’s not about micromanaging — it’s about keeping the class on track without having to stop instruction every five minutes to redirect someone. Setup was straightforward, and most of our teachers picked it up quickly. The interface is clean and easy to use, even for folks who aren’t super tech-savvy. Plus, since it’s browser-based and tied into our Google accounts, there’s no complicated software or extensions to manage outside of the initial setup. What we’ve seen since rolling it out is an overall improvement in student focus and fewer distractions during tech time. It also allows teachers to be proactive — they can step in before a student falls too far behind or gets off-task for too long. Before we had it, teachers struggled to keep students focused — especially during independent work time or when using websites for research. There just wasn’t a practical way to monitor 20+ screens at once. With Classroom, teachers now have a live view of what students are doing, and they can redirect them instantly if needed. They can also share links, freeze screens, or lock students into specific tabs during assessments or guided work. That level of control means fewer interruptions and less time spent on behavior management. It’s made tech integration smoother and helped build teacher confidence in using devices regularly — because they know they’re not giving up control when they hand out a Chromebook. ### 2. It would be nice to have a set schedule for each day that would start at a specific time since starting several classes each day can be overwhelming. **Recommendations to others considering Securly Classroom:** I would recommend using Securly for all ages for teaching as it allows you to see what the students are seeing on their screen and keep them ontask and holding student accountabiltiy online. **What problems is Securly Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am solving off task behavior and increasing participating while using Securly. I didn't realize the benefits until using it with some of my classes. I am also able to push announcements to each individual student or several students at once. ### 3. I am a one-man shop, but it feels like I have people that I can go to for help. I came into this site without real training, but now I feel confident that I provide excellent care for our school. **What do you dislike about Securly Classroom?** It was difficult at first as I did not know about the Lounge, but once I learned about it, the sun shone a bit brighter that day! I really don't see a need to improve it, "if it ain't broken, don't fix it." **What problems is Securly Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Classroom management and getting a bird's eye view of the iPads in our school. The fact that I can even check up on the iPads when I'm not at work is beneifical. ### 4. It also is a great tool for viewing their screens without having to walk around the room. The chat feature has been instrumental in communicating with them one-on-one about their work, or pushing out an announcement to the class when necessary. I have also found the tech support to be wonderfully helpful. **What do you dislike about Securly Classroom?** The only downside would be when something goes awry and I have to wait for it to be fixed. The Securly tech support, however, is great. **What problems is Securly Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Students being off-task and not having enough time to give everyone feedback. This makes things easier when you have a large class. That has been by far the most consistent piece of feedback I've heard in my role as Tech Integrator for a large high school. **What do you dislike about Securly Classroom?** I dislike the POTENTIAL this platform has for teachers or other school personnel to abuse their power. If used intentionally, Securly can foster good teaching and learning practices. We all know the best security and firewalls arent enough to prevent an intrepid middle school student from finding places they should not be. Our job as educators is to find a way to stay on top of what places a couple of dozen students are visiting simultaneously. Securly lets you do that. It also lets you close websites students should not be on, limit where students can go, and redirect their focus to the assignment at hand. **What do you dislike about Securly Classroom?** Sometimes Securly seems slow to react. You close a site a student is on, and it still appears several minutes later. **What problems is Securly Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** How to keep all of my students on task, in a classroom, all at the same time, and to do it without taking a large amount of time when I can be helping students and answering questions. ### 11. It seems to be a technical issue on Securly's end. They haven't been able to resolve the issue, but recommend removing the student from the session and reinvite. **What problems is Securly Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's allowing our teachers to observe what students are doing and supervise them in a safe way. Like anything else, you have to learn how to use some of the functions like limiting tabs. Also, it takes a number of clicks to get a Securely classroom running. They can't hide that they are doing something else besides the lesson. I can also monitor their progress on programs like IXL while having their screens projected on the Whiteboard. This has allowed us to keep a wider open filter at the top and let individual teachers block what they want during the day. This has also been amazing for ISS or OSS situations and a manual class is created with blocks and silent redirect messages. **What do you dislike about Securly Classroom?** Our chromebooks work really well! But, our Macbooks have a much harder time staying connected. The students willfully try to sign out and get tabs open and unfiltered by classroom. **What problems is Securly Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is solving the need for individualized filters at the class level. The ability to create manual groups is amazing for at risk or discipline situations. We will get better at customizing this to our needs the longer we use it. ### 16. Classroom allows teachers to see school-issued Chromebooks regardless if the student is face-to-face or distance learning. Teachers can push URLs to all or a select number of students, unblock sites for their class period, lock screens or tabs for online testing, delete tabs to keep students on task, send chats to all or a select number of students, as well as seeing a students history of sites visited during their class period. **What do you dislike about Securly Classroom?** I have no dislikes of Securly Classroom. Our teachers have nothing but great things to say about Securly Classroom and the capabilities it allows with students in class or working remotely! **Recommendations to others considering Securly Classroom:** If you are looking for a tool that is easy to implement, use, and delivers all the features teachers are looking for in device classroom management, then this is the product to buy! **What problems is Securly Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Teachers love the ability to have students take online tests regardless of whether they are in person or distance learning by locking student Chromebooks to a particular site. This option prevents students from opening other tabs in their browser to visit sites to look up answers on their school-issued Chromebooks. Teachers also like that they can communicate with the entire class or an individual student right on their devices. ### 17. Familiarity in one part of the platform makes it easier to learn others, and Customer Service has been very helpful when we lose our way. We were customers of another filtering/monitoring software solution provider before, and were very reticent to change. The decision was a good one, and we are very happy with the move we made. **What do you dislike about Securly Classroom?** I would like to see student grade levels listed in all areas, and in all notifications we receive. I'm constantly having to open my SIS to check what grade level the student is in, so I know I've reached out to the right leaders to help. I wish there were live reps to chat with on the platform, as sometimes finding the help articles and and email isn't as helpful in a situation needing a quick, simple answer. Anything else I struggle with is not because of Securely at this point, it is just part of my process of learning a new system. **What problems is Securly Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** We worked with Securly to create a "Penalty Box" for a temporary way to help students who are challenged to make good choices. Securly Classroom helps with this as well so teachers can limit the sites our students can access during a lesson. We don't want them practicing typing during a math lesson! ;). We have more admin and teacher involvement with the entire system and processes. It is less and less a "tech" issue and it is now part of how we do business. ### 31. It's no secret that students are inundated by technology and many times lack appropriate self-restraint in the appropriate use of technology. This hinders their learning and may even be disruptive to surrounding students. With Securly Classroom management, teachers can guide students in what they should be doing and help provide more self-restraint to students so that they can maximize their classroom learning time. **What do you dislike about Securly Classroom?** It can be difficult for teachers to manage Securly classroom while teaching. When teachers are trying to give appropriate lessons and instruction for students, they don't have the time to monitor computer use for students and therefore, students sometimes wander away from the appropriate task. As a teacher grows their own web-link list to allow or block URLs, they will be able to provide students with relevant links while giving instruction to students. This allows teachers additional resources for classroom management. The ability to close tabs, lock devices, and have a history of student internet browsing is also beneficial. **What do you dislike about Securly Classroom?** We ran into a lot of issues with student screens not displaying on the screen view. This required several support tickets, back and forth emails, and calls with Securly. At first, we would just kept getting the same response asking to complete the basic troubleshooting steps and to provide information about the class. This got frustrating as it did not provide us any solutions to the issues. Finally, we had a webinar with several Securly employees and were told that the issue was due to the processing power required on both the teacher's and students' devices to display the screens in screen view. Their suggestion was to use tab view. Unfortunately, this defeated our original purpose of being able to see all the students' screens at the same time. Overtime the issue seemed to occur less frequently and our teachers learned to deal with it, but it was still not a perfect solution. **What problems is Securly Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Securly Classroom was even more beneficial while we were virtual. Teachers could use the screen view to remotely help troubleshoot. When students were off task, they could send announcements and push URLs to get the students to where they were supposed to be. ### 40.
