Real-Time Classroom Control That Actually Helps: Our Take on Securly Classroom

Securly Classroom has been a huge help in keeping our students focused during lessons, especially in a 1:1 Chromebook environment. Before using it, teachers often felt like they were “flying blind” — they could assign work online, but had no way to know who was actually doing it without walking around constantly. Now, with Securly Classroom, teachers can see every student’s screen in real-time, freeze screens when they need attention, and even open tabs or push websites directly during a lesson. It’s not about micromanaging — it’s about keeping the class on track without having to stop instruction every five minutes to redirect someone. Setup was straightforward, and most of our teachers picked it up quickly. The interface is clean and easy to use, even for folks who aren’t super tech-savvy. Plus, since it’s browser-based and tied into our Google accounts, there’s no complicated software or extensions to manage outside of the initial setup. What we’ve seen since rolling it out is an overall improvement in student focus and fewer distractions during tech time. It also allows teachers to be proactive — they can step in before a student falls too far behind or gets off-task for too long. Pros: Real-time screen monitoring Tab push and link sharing saves time Ability to lock screens or tabs as needed Teachers feel more in control of tech use No special software installs for students

Keeping Students Focused and Safe: Our Experience with Securly Filter

We’ve been using Securly Filter for several years now, and it’s become an essential part of how we manage student devices and ensure online safety in our school. As a K–8 environment with 1:1 Chromebooks, content filtering isn’t just about blocking bad sites — it’s about helping students stay on task and giving teachers and parents peace of mind. One of the biggest strengths of Securly Filter is how well it integrates with Google Workspace. We’re able to manage filtering policies by organizational units, so we can tailor access based on age and grade level. The interface is intuitive, and reporting is clear — I can quickly pull activity logs or get a high-level view of student browsing behavior if a concern comes up. Another huge benefit has been the parent portal. Parents really appreciate being able to see their child’s activity at home and even pause internet access when needed. It’s made our tech program feel more transparent and collaborative. From a technical perspective, the filter is reliable, and the cloud-based setup means we’re not stuck maintaining on-prem hardware. Support has been responsive any time we’ve needed help fine-tuning categories or resolving issues. Pros: Easy Google Workspace integration Granular filtering by OU Strong reporting and real-time activity logs Parent portal is a game-changer Cloud-based, minimal maintenance

Helping Us See the Whole Picture: 2 Years with Securly Aware in Our School

We've been using Securly Aware in our school for about a year now, and it’s been a solid addition to our digital safety efforts. At first, I was skeptical—like many K-8 schools, we already had web filtering and basic monitoring in place. But Aware took things a step further. The real-time alerts for flagged content have been especially helpful. It’s not just about catching red flags; it’s about context. Aware does a good job of showing the surrounding conversation or activity, which makes it much easier to respond appropriately. We've had a few situations where a student typed something worrying in a shared doc or email, and Securly notified us almost instantly. That kind of speed makes a difference. From a privacy standpoint, I appreciate that it's focused on student safety, not surveillance for the sake of it. It’s not overly invasive, but it gives enough insight for staff to step in when needed. Setup and integration with Google Workspace were pretty straightforward. Support was responsive when we had questions, and the dashboard is user-friendly—our counselors and deans didn’t need a lot of training to get comfortable with it. If your school is trying to take a more proactive stance on digital wellness and student mental health, Aware is worth looking into. It doesn’t solve every issue, but it gives schools the visibility and tools to act early. Here are our view of the Pro for this app: Timely alerts with context Easy to use, clean dashboard Solid integration with Google Responsive support team
