**What do you like best about Secumeet Server?**

What I value most about Secumeet Server is its self‑hosted architecture built to meet strict German GDPR rules, which has become critical for my day‑to‑day work as Live Event Coordinator at LiveConnect Marketing Berlin. All video traffic, in‑meeting chat threads and local recordings stay on our own Berlin‑based server, never routed through third‑party overseas cloud servers. I experienced a stressful lesson on data privacy on our previous tool Shindig. During a pre‑salon rehearsal for a local B2B tech brand, we went over unreleased product teaser content, only for the client’s compliance team to flag that platform’s cross‑border data transfer as a contract violation. That incident almost cost us the whole client account. Switching to Secumeet removes that exact risk; I can show our customers clear evidence of data residency whenever they run compliance checks. Beyond privacy, I’m really happy with its consistent low‑latency performance for multi‑party closed rehearsals. We regularly bring in guest panelists from across different European countries to run tech checks and walk through event agendas. On mainstream cloud tools, we would often get sudden audio drop‑outs mid‑rehearsal, eating up our tight preparation window right before going‑live. Secumeet holds up far better for these closed coordination sessions. The granular participant permission controls are another huge win for our mixed‑stakeholder meetings. Last month we hosted a rehearsal with internal production staff, client stakeholders and three external industry guests. I could lock external panelists out of recording, file download and meeting‑management privileges. This prevents the kind of mishap we had before, when an outside guest downloaded confidential client slides and leaked snippets publicly. I can tailor camera‑mic access for every participant group, keeping our complex multi‑party rehearsals orderly and our sensitive campaign materials well‑protected.

**What do you dislike about Secumeet Server?**

Secumeet Server works great for small closed coordination calls, yet it carries obvious drawbacks that create lots of manual overhead for our virtual‑event pipeline. To start with, it has zero native webinar‑ready audience features. I cannot run our public‑facing brand salons or corporate livestreams directly on it. There are no polls, chat moderation tools or viewer analytics. We have to rely entirely on Onstream Live for all official public broadcasts. Since there is no integration between the two platforms, I must manually transfer speaker scripts and talking‑point notes. As I mentioned in an earlier project, I revised a guest’s key talking points during our Secumeet rehearsal but forgot to copy those updates over to Onstream Live’s script, creating minor narrative confusion during the actual live broadcast. There are also no saved reusable permission templates. Every time I create a new meeting room for a salon project, I need to manually toggle recording, download and participant rights all over again. During one busy week with three parallel event rehearsals, I accidentally left file‑download permissions enabled for external guest speakers. I spotted the error only minutes before the rehearsal kicked off, which gave me a real scare considering how sensitive our client slides were. The initial setup process was also pretty demanding. We ran into tricky firewall‑port issues where external guest test users could not connect at all, and messed‑up storage‑path settings caused several of our test rehearsal recordings to go missing. Testing each permission combination required countless manual test sessions, and all of this depended heavily on our in‑house IT specialist. Any smaller marketing agency without dedicated IT support would struggle heavily to get Secumeet properly deployed and secured.

**What problems is Secumeet Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secumeet Server directly solved the serious GDPR compliance risk we faced when we were still using Shindig for our pre‑live briefings. That near‑miss client compliance scare pushed us to find a self‑hosted alternative to keep all confidential pre‑event content within German jurisdiction. All rehearsal metadata, chat logs and local recordings stay inside our own server environment, so we no longer face push‑back from our German clients’ compliance departments when we discuss unreleased campaign material in closed‑door sessions. It also delivers far more stable low‑latency connections for multi‑site guest speakers during tech‑check rehearsals. I waste far less time troubleshooting random audio freezes that used to cut into our tight pre‑live preparation window. The fine‑grained participant permissions let me separate access rights for internal crew, clients and external panelists, greatly lowering the risk of confidential brand assets getting downloaded or misused by outside participants. Even so, Secumeet only covers closed‑door meetings. We still depend on Onstream Live for public livestreams, Dynamics 365 Marketing for attendee management and PowerFolder for secure file storage. All cross‑tool workflows rely on manual file exports and uploads, which brings the possibility of human error. Regardless of those limitations, Secumeet takes away our biggest data‑privacy exposure and makes our high‑risk pre‑live coordination work much safer for our agency and our German‑based brand clients.
