What do you like best about Secret Double Octopus?

Setting up a new computer or device is always made more frustrating by the sheer number of logins required for all of the different apps, services, and websites one uses. Maintaining proper security means avoiding reusing passwords or writing them down, so some sort of password manager is a necessity today. However with traditional password management tools, that just means one more app you need to track, and another password and 2FA scheme to keep that tool safe. After setting up a new computer in my home office, being able to use SDO for some of my services instead of traditional password management was refreshing. Microsoft 365 was set up and connected to all of my work services quicker and easier than any site or service, all thanks to SDO. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Secret Double Octopus?

The only downside is that I am not able to use it with all of my sites and services. I'm dependent on my mobile device for so much more than just SDO, so the only potential weak point to using SDO for authentication doesn't even count as a consideration from my perspective. What do you like best about Secret Double Octopus?

My company recently implemented Secret Double Octopus for Microsoft 365. As a user, implementation was a breeze. In fact, I kind of forgot about it til Microsoft Teams asked me to sign-in and I started to scramble for my password - until I realized I didn't need it. Just verified using face ID on my phone and I was in! Now I want the company to implement it for everything else I use! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Secret Double Octopus?

I can only speak to the user side of things (and not the behind-the-scenes implementation) as I'm not on the technical side of things - from my perspective, usage has been seamless and I have no complaints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Secret Double Octopus solving and how is that benefiting you?

SDO solves the universal problems of passwords for me - creating new passwords (not reusing the same old same old, which I have definitely been guilty of doing), creating passwords that meet all the minimum requirements, and REMEMBERING what password is for what service (and remembering to notate when I have to change a password). Simple passwordless solution provide great user experience to the employees and security to the IT team based on the organisation policy

The ability to connect to any cloud service and legacy applications that are installed on premise or in the cloud

First time use is somehow complicated, can be better experience with the onboarding. once users on board everything works great

Users should understand how to enroll and the mobile app should guide them more to the action needs to be done

Integrating with none standard applications was a bit complicated and required the help from SDO support team, but they provide the solution to all the required application even when they did not work in the standard and it took a few days to figure it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Secret Double Octopus is the best passwordless solution, and i tested some of other offering in the market

the support team is very much responsive and provide solution to any issues we had during the deployment

What do you like best about Secret Double Octopus?

Super easy day to day work with our SDO protected systems

It has become such a part of our work, that we take it for granted that we are protected and in such an easy and intuitive manner.

I also like the way that (as part of our employee leaving policy), I only have to login to the Admin UI and "block" the user in one place.

From this point onwards the ex-employee is blocked from all our inner systems - this is a very important feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Secret Double Octopus?

Dislike is too strong a word.

There are some "glitches" in the Admin UI but totally negligible and the team constantly works to improve it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Secret Double Octopus:

One of the best thing about the company itself is that they listen to customers.

They want feedback and suggestions and I can happily say that some of the features in their system were added because I've asked for them and it made good sense.

Aside from the product being great, having a responsive team like they do is very important.

As an example, when we connected to a 3rd party product that supported SAML but wasn't known enough to merit its own description in SDO's documentation, I had an online screen sharing session with their support and together we were able to connect to this system.

What problems is Secret Double Octopus solving and how is that benefiting you?

It provides a central place to control the access of all employees.

Using MFA like we did in the past, forced me to define and enable an employee in each system we used and have the employee scan the code for each such system separately.

When an employee left, I had to ensure I'm not forgetting any systems where the employee was granted access to and block the employee from each and every one of them one by one.

I can now create, block and remove an employee from one place.

The employee needs to register to the MFA only once and is then protected.

It saves a lot of time (for a security administrator) and provides a peace of mind as I feel secure using SDO's system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I advise Octopus to reduce the attack surface about the active directory, workstations, and servers. The integration with our VPN solutions is very important because we can realize better user management in terms of security and IT operations, the log audit trail will result more clearly and effectively. First Deployment was a little challenging for some of the users as they process was not clear (they needed to read the documentation first)

The servers installation took about 2 days as it requires to open some firewall ports and connection to AD which took some time for IT group to enable. suggest to have more wizard type installation to avoid confessions
