I use Rive every day for all kinds of interactive animation, and it's really become indispensable for creating user experiences and interfaces. The rigging tools are robust, comparable to a full 3D character animation package, and the addition of components like powerful IK bones makes it incredibly versatile. With features like layouts, data binding, and scripting, Rive is an all-encompassing tool that's perfect for UI design. I love how easy it is to pick up and use, even for the first time, and then discover the deep possibilities for expanding motion design. The setup is super easy—you can just use a browser-based editor, or the desktop app if you prefer. It's very straightforward with an account signup and works on both Mac and PC without any inconvenience at all. The ability to create multiple animation variants across different locales and randomness creates new user experiences that are tailored to them. Especially as a character animator, Rive allows me to create interactive and exciting animations. I recommend Rive almost every day to my colleagues and friends. One thing that I think Rive struggles with a little bit is explaining how some of the deeper functionalities work, and it sort of relies on people who already know how to use those things. There's a lot of math and functions you can put into data binding that aren't really very clearly explained anywhere on their website. And we sort of have to figure it out for ourselves a lot of the time. I think it is still a work in progress from a user interface standpoint, but it is still very straightforward. There's just a few little things here and there that I think could be improved on as far as user experience goes and quality of life improvements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
