I discovered Rive at the end of 2022 and I’ve been using it nonstop ever since. When I first came across it, I already thought it was an amazing tool for creating production‑ready animations. But so much has changed since then. With the steady release of major features like Data Binding and Scripting, Rive has evolved into an entirely different beast: a powerful engine for building almost any interactive experience you can imagine. And I mean “interactive” in the broadest sense: websites, product UI, games, HMI, education, data‑viz… the sky’s the limit.

I love that with Rive, it's much easier for motion designers to get their animations into a product on their own, breaking down previous barriers. The joystick + constraint combo is fantastic, allowing control of animations via joystick and letting me keyframe with constraints. I find the timeline blending and state machines great features for smooth transitions between states. Rive makes it easier to place animations on websites, mobile apps, and other products, and its preview is super fast. Installing and setting up Rive was pretty easy. Also, the playback is instant. What I've found out no matter how many bones I have, playback is very smooth. Unlike in After Effects, path animation connected to bones can be very slow on RAM preview.
I use Rive for motion and interactive design. I like that Rive makes interactive animations really easy. It is really robust and opens so many possibilities for creatives who aren't that deep into the field. I also find the state machine, timeline, and their newest script features valuable.
