**What do you like best about Profound?**

What I love most about Profound is the Claude MCP integration. It's incredibly easy to set up and get value from right away. The fact that I can track metrics like run visibility and citation rates directly through Claude makes the workflow so seamless and intuitive.

I also like how the AI summary on the homepage gives me a quick digest of what's happened in the last seven days — it's like having an assistant always keeping me in the loop on our AEO and LLM visibility performance. 

Lastly, I appreciate the mentorship and support from their team.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

I would love to see more ongoing mentorship and support. As part of the first cohort, which ran for one week, I found the experience incredibly valuable — and I think offering something similar on a bi-weekly or monthly basis would be a great way to help customers continue learning. Answer engine optimization is such an emerging space, and that kind of consistent guidance would make a real difference.

**What do you like best about Profound?**

I love the prompt tracking in Profound because it allows us to see the direct impact of our LLM efforts clearly and understand what LLMs are saying about our most important prompts. This helps us to know when to refresh our content to maintain visibility. I also appreciate that Profound is evolving constantly with new betas being added regularly, making it an industry leader and incredibly valuable for leveling up our content in the AI era. The workflow features look promising, and I can't wait to see what they can do for our content program. Their onboarding process was great, and I feel far less despair about being an SEO professional now. Profound is the real deal!

I came back to update this post because I recently went through Profound University. It was a total game changer. Profound was very useful before they released this 101 content, but when I first started using Profound, it kind of felt like a luxury car that was amazing to drive but had a few buttons and switches you didn't know what to do with. After going through Profound University, I feel like we're utilizing Profounds full potential. And we've used it to achieve AEO leadership in our industry.

I was impressed by how it reveals what people are asking AI and how different systems represent your brand, giving you actionable insight to improve your presence. **What do you like best about Profound?**

I use Profound daily as an in-house SEO, and it gives me a clear view of how our brand shows up across AI platforms. The biggest value is being able to understand AI visibility in a structured way, rather than relying on guesswork. I can track progress over time, compare our coverage against competitors, and use the data to set content priorities.

The strategy calls with our dedicated AI strategist are another strong part of the experience. They help translate what we’re seeing in the data into practical actions we can apply to our ongoing SEO work. Overall, the platform makes it easier to explain AI performance to internal teams, since the reporting is straightforward and easy to follow.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

There’s a lot of data in the platform, so there’s definitely a learning curve when you first get started, especially with some of the newer AI-focused metrics. A few workflows could be faster and feel more streamlined, and I’d also like more flexibility with exports as well as more options to customize reporting.

**What do you like best about Profound?**

We have a lot of customizability within the platform, and the level of insights you can access is very transparent—down to the actual responses within the full dataset. They’re constantly building new features and they listen to the users on their platform. There is a bit of a learning curve, but we can stay on top of it with all the other features Profound offers as well, like content-creation tools that are specifically tailored to your dataset, which is important for more detailed campaigns. We’ve tried so many different tools over the past year or two, and Profound has everything the other tools had, plus more, with higher levels of reporting and insights available—including insights on your competitors. There really isn’t another platform out there right now that’s doing everything Profound is doing.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

There’s a decent learning curve involved. At first, some of the metrics and KPIs can sound the same, or it can feel like there are discrepancies in what different metrics are saying, but I think that’s really just a reflection of how nuanced the insights from Profound can be. Every once in a while, a few reports may seem temporarily wonky. For example, it’s great that you can add tags and organize tracked prompts into groups or topics with a high level of specificity, but sometimes the “modify prompts” section bugs out and you end up having to repeat those changes.

**What problems is Profound solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Profound is accurately and effectively showing me the real AI Visibility landscape for my clients—especially in comparison to the competitors they care most about—while also giving me the data I need to make real-time decisions that help improve visibility around what matters to them.

For example, using the data from the tracked prompts for one of my clients, we were able to leverage the other tools in Profound to develop a strong content strategy. Once it was published, it genuinely started to move the needle in the ways we expected, and we can see that progress directly in Profound, down to the exact URLs (in the Citations Report, for example). That alone has given me the confidence to say Profound is hands-down the best AI Visibility tool out there right now.

What sets Profound apart from other AEO tools is how intuitive and strategy-forward the platform feels. It doesn’t present data just for data’s sake; it’s structured to support real decision-making around strategy and brand authority. The reporting is clean, easy to navigate, and client-friendly, which makes it much simpler to explain AEO performance without it feeling so abstract.

Because AEO is still such a new space, some of the metrics take a bit of learning and context to interpret. It’s not a set-it-and-forget-it tool, and you get the most value when you pair it with a strong SEO strategy.

Profound is solving the growing visibility gap between traditional SEO performance and how brands actually appear in AI-generated answers. As search shifts toward generative experiences, it’s become harder to understand if, where, and why a brand is being surfaced, and traditional SEO tools don’t really answer those questions. By providing clear insight into AI citations, entity coverage, and topical authority, Profound removes a lot of the guesswork around AEO. Instead of speculating about how to optimize for AI-driven search, we can see concrete patterns, identify gaps, and make informed content and technical decisions.

I like how much insight Profound surfaces in one platform. The competitor visibility, citation and link tracking, and agent/workflow performance give us a clearer picture of where we’re showing up, where we’re not, and what to prioritize next. It helps turn LLM visibility into something more actionable.

The main area for improvement is the recommendations. They’re helpful conceptually, but I’d love to see clearer guidance on what to change, where to change it, and how to measure impact.

**What problems is Profound solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Profound solves the problem of not knowing how our content is interpreted and surfaced by LLMs. It benefits us by showing citation share, competitor visibility, sentiment signals and agent/workflow outputs in one place, which helps us identify gaps, validate optimizations and focus effort where it’s most likely to have impact. We've been doing a lot of LLM visibility research on the platform, using it to test SEO ranking findings and etc., which has been beneficial with the optimizations we perform.

The visibility into our AI and LLM usage has been a game-changer for us. Before Profound, we had no clear picture of which teams were using which AI tools, how much we were spending, or whether we had any security blind spots. Now we can actually see what's happening across the organization in real time. The dashboard is straightforward to navigate, and I appreciate that we can quickly identify shadow AI usage and get a handle on our actual costs. It's given our IT and security teams the oversight they needed without slowing down our teams who are trying to be productive with AI tools.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

The reporting capabilities could use some improvement. While the data is there, I'd really like to see more automated reporting options—something where we could schedule regular reports or get automated insights without having to manually pull everything together each time. We've also run into some technical issues with the platform, like pages loading slowly or certain features temporarily not working as expected. Nothing that's been a dealbreaker, but it does require some patience when you're trying to get something done quickly. Overall, though, these are relatively minor compared to the value we're getting from the tool.

Profound has given us the enterprise-level visibility and governance we needed as we scaled our AI usage. We needed centralized oversight to track spending, ensure policy compliance, and make strategic decisions about our AI investments. The platform has helped us consolidate redundant subscriptions, optimize our licensing based on actual usage data, and maintain proper documentation for audits and stakeholders. Honestly, I think this kind of visibility would be valuable for smaller businesses too—you don't need to be our size to benefit from knowing where your AI budget is going and whether you're getting value from these tools. For us as an enterprise, it's been essential for turning AI from scattered expenses into a managed strategic asset.

Consistently improving and adding to their products is a must in the ever-changing world of GEO / AEO. It seems like every 2 weeks (sprint cycle?) they have useful new features that take Profound from just a simple Visibility monitoring tool (what they were when I started using them) to now also providing real user data, actual AI workflows for optimizations, and more personalized user persona tracking. The dedicated Customer Success Manager is also really helpful and always available, which makes it easy to understand and use new things in the platform.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

Sometimes slow loading (but to be fair, they're loading lots and lots of data). Also, I wish that adding new prompts to track didn't cause apples to oranges comparisons of data before the addition vs data after the addition. It'd be nice if there was a way to easily view prompts/topics by date added to the platform so it's more clear when comparing time periods.

**What problems is Profound solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Profound helps us compare our brand's visibility across varying potential customer prompts, which is really helping us learn and improve in the GEO / AEO space. Being able to compare performance by LLM (Gemini, AI Overview, ChatGPT, Grok, etc.) has provided us with insights into where to focus our efforts on specific tactics (for example, if ChatGPT sends the most traffic to our site, knowing what sources OpenAI cites in reviews of our company has given us the ability to target acquiring more positive reviews in that source and increasing our sentiment from our highest-traffic source LLM.

**What do you like best about Profound?**

I've really enjoyed utilizing Profound in my copywriting role and with my entire content team. One of our major goals for the year was learning how to approach copywriting in the new AIO/LLM space, and Profound has helped us navigate that. One of my favorite things is how easy the data is to read and what you're able to track. We can easily see our visibility rating and how that compares to other competitors. We can also see sentiment rankings which is super interesting and has allowed us to fine tune strategy for platforms like Reddit. The other major benefit our team has seen is with the "content" features which allow us to create new content (briefs and all), or optimize existing content. These both save us a ton of time. There's also a cool tool allowing us to track URLS after we implement or optimize which is great for looking at growth with specific pieces of content. We utilize Profound to some extent daily. 

Our rep is so helpful and available by email or our biweekly meeting to answer any questions we have. He really takes the time to respond!

I think there's a slight learning curve and navigating where everything is can take some time, but that's to be expected I think!

**What do you like best about Profound?**

I use Profound daily. The data it collects is extremely valuable to our LLM visibility efforts and our support team is responsive and knowledgeable. The learning curve has been pretty quick as well. So, integrating it into our daily workflow has been a piece of cake.

The user interface is top-notch. Everything is clickable and it allows us to connect just about any data points we need while investigating. E.g. if I want to know what ChatGPT said about [insert business feature] on [insert date] when speaking to [insert customer person], I can find it all within just a couple of clicks. And then if I need to change any of those variables, that's an easy change as well.

I've gotten to sample a few other LLM visibility tools lately and none of them come even close to Profound.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

I think their export-to-spreadsheet features are a little lacking right now. But, it's usually a quick couple of changes to get what we need when the exports are lacking. So, minor inconvenience.

We evaluated pretty much every serious player in the AEO/GEO space, and Profound struck the best balance between tooling depth and usability. It’s not just one feature — it’s a thoughtful suite that helps you identify intent keywords, execute against them, optimize content, and monitor results in one place.

What really stands out, though, is the team. They feel less like a typical software vendor and more like a hybrid of a technology partner and a consulting/professional services team. They live and breathe AEO, and that domain expertise has been incredibly valuable, especially since we were starting close to zero. They didn’t just hand us a tool — they helped guide us on where to focus, how to prioritize, and how to avoid common pitfalls early on.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

This is less a knock on Profound specifically and more a reality of the AEO space overall: it’s a massive, blue-sky opportunity with almost infinite paths you could go down. Without focus, it’s easy to get distracted or overwhelmed.

That said, this is actually where Profound helps mitigate the downside. The learning curve is real if you’re new to AEO, but the product and team do a good job helping you stay oriented and focused on what actually matters.

AEO is an area companies know they need to invest in, but it’s also one where it’s easy to waste time and effort without clear direction. Profound acts like a GPS and radar — helping you decide where to go, what to prioritize, and how you’re progressing along the way.

Specifically, it’s helped us:

	•	Surface prompts that strike the right balance between search volume and quality

**What do you like best about Profound?**

Profound excels in two areas: 1. it is incredibly informative and 2. it is incredibly intuitive. I have both a broad and very specific view into how my company's brand is performing across numerous topics, geos, and LLMs. I can clearly see which of these need attention and there's a clear path for making improvements. And the improvements are meaningful; I can track their positive impact on our performance, which validates our investment in the platform. Oh, and my customer success manager is wonderful!

I haven't found anything yet after several months of daily use. Features are rolled out consistently so any gaps they perceived are ahead of anything I've perceived.

I love the visibility Profound gives us into how we're performing across AI-driven search. The standard SEO tracking tools are just not cutting it. I haven't seen anything as granular as Profound - and with their latest addition of Workflows, it's not just about tracking or recommendations anymore - we can now take actions on those. Beyond the capabilities of the tool, I highly appreciate the team. Profound has been an outstanding partner for us. Their customer support is genuinely excellent—responsive, knowledgeable, and proactive, which makes a big difference when you’re moving fast. The AI insights across multiple LLMs have been especially valuable; they don’t just inform our content strategy, but also meaningfully guide our media planning through the analytics they provide. Most importantly, the platform has allowed us to monitor shifts in traffic and search behavior in near real time, enabling us to be proactive rather than reactive as trends evolve.

One area for improvement would be building out deeper data around prompt-level traffic. While the existing insights are strong, it would be valuable to see something that more closely resembles a traditional keyword traffic tool—offering clearer visibility into prompt volume, trends over time, and relative demand. This would help further quantify opportunity sizing and make the insights even more actionable for planning and forecasting.

So through the Answer Engine Insights, I'm able to see topics and where our brands are appearing or not appearing in topics associated with us. Through each question in the engine, i can then see day by day how things are changing. I can even drill down to a specific AI platform, such as AI Overviews

As we're a UK-based company. The constant need to keep changing the filter to UK only is something I dislike. Also, I think there is room for improvement in understanding keywords better. What really stands out with Profound is the customer support and how fast the team moves. Support is extremely responsive and genuinely invested in helping us succeed. It feels more like a partnership than a typical vendor relationship.

From a product perspective, Profound has become crucial to our GEO strategy. I log into the platform at least 3 to 4 times a week, which says a lot about how useful it is in day to day work. The tool is easy to use, and it is very simple to make changes such as targeting new prompts or removing existing ones without friction.

The amount of raw data available is impressive and gives us insights we simply could not access before. On top of that, the roadmap is a monster. New features and improvements are shipped at a very fast pace, which makes the platform better almost every time we log in. You can clearly feel how ambitious and execution driven the team is.

Also platform wise distribution of the market captured give a fair idea how the organisation is performing in AEO. These are quite good insights to have while doing performance analysis.

In the Agent Analytics there should be a "topics" drop down added for organisation which have numerous categories, right now it is not available which makes it a lot difficult to analyse for certain categories and the process becomes slower since the load time taken is very high.

Also the load time for assets which are big should be reduced for smooth work, which is a little miss at this point.

**What do you like best about Profound?**

I really like the depth of insights on Profound; it's useful from a marketer's point of view. I also appreciate that Profound has inbuilt agents that I can set according to my needs to produce and optimize content at scale. You can use these agents to create fresh content, rewrite existing pieces with insights from Profound, and generate reports.   The platform allows me to measure the impact of my content and brand visibility in AI search, linking it to revenue. Another feature is its ability to integrate with Google Analytics, which helps me perform an integrated approach to marketing.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

I think Profound needs to create more resources to onboard new users. These resources should be in both written and video formats. I guess the learning curve could be a bit steep. Also, the prompt volume feature can be improved. Currently, you can only look for prompts literally, but not semantically. A semantic view will also make it capture the diversity of search behaviors. The load speed of the platform can be improved, too.

**What do you like best about Profound?**

Profound helps me uncover gaps in themes I'm not appearing for in AI search for my clients. I appreciate its ability to show the volume and visibility of certain prompts compared to competitors. The competitive benchmarking section is incredibly helpful as it provides data-backed insights to illustrate to my clients why they should target certain topics or gap areas that competitors are typically owning. The trend tracking over time is beneficial for understanding our growing and losing visibility areas. Citation tracking has been especially useful, and the prompt volume feature is immensely helpful as it shows how often certain prompts are being searched for and the size of opportunities different themes present. Additionally, the UI is pretty easy to navigate, requiring only one training session.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

The cost has been difficult to sell in to some clients, as it's pretty pricey. Additionally, finding URL level data could be made easier.

I also appreciate Profound's good customer service and their dedicated staff who provide helpful training. The platform is easy to use and allows for customization, which is great. There is the ability to use insights from our metrics to create and optimize content all within one platform. Profound also makes content optimization and opportunity identification from the prompts and categories we like to track.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

Right now, there are a handful of features in beta, so that can make some of the ability limited. Also the system does not have a name citation metric. That would be a metric that calculates the amount of times a brand name is mentioned in the cited content or results (As a percentage or a absolute number).

I really appreciate how Profound surfaces insights about where your brand appears in AI search-generated responses and shows where you're strong or need improvement. The engagement manager and customer success team are extremely helpful, supportive, and strategic. Also, the Slack channel for enterprise customers is a great way to stay in touch with their team for questions. The initial setup was extremely easy, and we were onboarded within a few days.

The only thing I can think of is that they have released so many new features and tools it's almost hard to keep up as a customer and ensure you're getting the most out of the tool. I would love to have an ongoing way to learn about all the features and tools.

Profound is an incredibly intuitive and comprehensive tool that gives our team the visibility we needed to take strategic action on our GEO plans. It’s also been a game-changer for how we report on content performance: it makes it easy to isolate where our team should focus for the biggest impact and to reliably track core metrics over time against our top competitors, which helps us stay grounded. The level of granularity in which we can drill down is amazing. With this tool, it’s been much easier to advocate for continued investment in GEO-led content and report progress back to stakeholders. I especially appreciate how much time the Profound team took in helping us to onboard, as well as the continued guidance and support our AI specialist provides ongoing.

Minor since it's only in Beta, but I don't think we get much value from the recommended Opportunities yet and that could be a huge differentiator in future.

We rely on Profound as a core part of our GEO and AI-driven content strategy. What stands out most is how Profound turns abstract AI visibility data into actionable insights that directly inform the content we create and prioritize. The platform’s Answer Engine Insights dashboard gives us a unified view of how our brand and key content are appearing across major AI models: from ChatGPT to Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, etc., and lets us track visibility, sentiment, and citation trends over time. That level of cross-model visibility simply wasn’t possible with the traditional SEO tools we were using before.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

While Profound is incredibly powerful for tracking AI search visibility and helping guide our GEO strategy, there is an initial learning curve that teams will need to be patient with. Because the platform surfaces a lot of detailed, data-rich insights, it can feel overwhelming at first; especially if you’re not already familiar with GEO concepts. Having a designated person from Profound’s team to help with onboarding and navigate hurdles has made a big difference for us, but this level of support is typically only available on higher-tier or enterprise plans and may not be included at lower tiers.

Before using Profound, our team faced a major gap in our content strategy: we didn’t have reliable insight into how our content was performing in AI-powered search environments like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and others. Traditional SEO tools could only show us how we ranked on Google, but as AI assistants increasingly deliver answers directly to users, we had no clear way to measure or improve our visibility in these generative engines. As a result, we often felt like we were guessing which topics or pages AI would surface, which made it difficult to prioritize our efforts and to clearly demonstrate impact.

It's expensive for the value it brings and can feel overly complex. The most useful features are gated behind more expensive plans. Fully understanding the dashboard and insights takes time. AI visibility is not yet a metric teams are used to, and the concepts it introduces are a bit foreign. Creating tooltips that equate these new LLM metrics with old SEO metrics would be helpful.

I love Profound's incredible dashboards that give me a ton of information about competitor performance, helping me understand complex data easily. I can quickly see if visibility is improving and connect the work we do with real changes in visibility in LLMs. I like being able to see who is citing my content and who is getting mentioned, which helps me make actionable optimization work for clients. I also appreciate the feature that allows me to research prompt topics and understand their importance and volume. It's great how it connects the dots between SEO keywords and AEO topics in a unique way. The initial setup is super easy, taking only a few minutes to get started.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

I would love to have an easier way to take the data and export it into external dashboards like Looker Data Studio. Right now, you have to do it with a custom API, so it is possible but a pre-built connector or exporter so I could do it without custom dev work would be great.

**What do you like best about Profound?**

I like that Profound provides so much data, including insights on how our competitors perform and what strategies work for them. This helps us see what to focus on to be competitive on specific topics. The visibility rankings by topic and top prompts give us a clear view of how the top 10 competitors stack up, which is great because we often don't show up in these rankings. This allows us to prioritize what prompts we want to be more visible for and then generate content to help us appear.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

We're still learning the platform. The sheer amount of data is overwhelming, and we don't know where to even start to make the most impact quickly. The platform is also evolving so fast, our rep said that by the time training videos are produced, they're out of date. So it's hard to understand how some of their newest features work as the onboarding training is dozens of steps, so by the time you finish watching the guidethrough, you've already forgotten the beginning. The onboarding is a bunch of animated popups that show you step by step what to do. However, once it's over and you close the popup, it's just the product UX with no guidance. There could be help bubbles on the page, or even a column on the side or a popup with steps listed so that users can follow the steps without having to reopen the onboarding flow and keep rewatching until the relevant step.

I use Profound to track and improve our visibility and citation rate on AI platforms. It helps us understand competitor performance and identify areas to focus on for competitiveness. It solves our visibility issues by showing rankings and allows us to prioritize and generate relevant content. Content creation is also super easy - a couple clicks generates a content brief, and then the actual content for us to edit, review and post.

I really appreciate our engagement managers at Profound. They're incredibly knowledgeable and have guided us on prompt selection and queries. Most of our team is used to SEO, and the Profound team have taught us a lot about how LLM visibility differs from search and worked with us 1:1 to surface topics for different parts of our business. The initial setup of Profound was very easy, and I'm excited to explore new features and workflows they've just launched. Overall, I'm very pleased with the service and would recommend it.

I don't really know the ins and outs as well as I'd like. We see a lot of demos and guided tours, but I probably just need to spend more time in the tool to get a better grasp on what we can get from it.

I like diving into the data of the LLMs and understanding how they're talking about us and how visible we are. I also appreciate the content creation capabilities of Profound, as there are a variety of ways to create content and Profound is building new capabilities all the time. The query fan-out functionality is very useful for our data-heavy organization, letting us see where our marketing changes are having an impact. For content creation, I find it great that Profound helps integrate actual data from what LLMs are serving to users into content generation workflows, providing valuable insights beyond guessing or a simple Google search. I love how the system supports our need for data-driven proof. Additionally, I find value in their regular updates and responsiveness, which contributes to a great experience.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

I think the prompt volumes could be enhanced. There are some gaps there on queries and prompts that have volumes and ones that don't. Broadening the database of prompts and having more data in general would be helpful.

I like that Profound pulls back the curtain of what's being said about us by LLMs. A feature I find very useful is Personas. It lets us build certain Personas and see how our brand performs for different personas in LLMs, like comparing responses for someone in the Healthcare industry versus a grad student studying Creative Arts. I appreciate that it's not just about reviewing data but also taking specific actions to enhance our AEO strategy. The initial setup was quite easy, and their customer success team is good, providing regular calls to help answer questions and introduce new features. I also find Profound's tool more robust, offering more detailed and specific insights than what we used before.

**What do you dislike about Profound?**

There are very few things I dislike about Profound. They're constantly growing and improving the product. Right now, you can only track 3 personas (I think), so I'm looking forward to see if they can expand that in future.
