Proctorio was essential to our graduate school of education transitioning to be 100% online and asynchronous. Proctorio ensures that our students are the ones taking our assessments and that they are not getting inappropriate assistance. Our students very much enjoy the autonomy this gives them to take our courses and our Proctorio proctored assessments anytime, anywhere. We use Proctorio for online automated test proctoring. The extension is easy for teachers to set up for their quizzes and flexible enough to meet their needs. The variety of options allows them to enable the features and settings they need to ensure their desired level of academic integrity. Proctorio really is easy to use for both the instructor and the student. Once you get the hang of how to activate it on the course and subsequently on each quiz/exam in Canvas, the rest is really straight forward. I wish there were onscreen tutorial videos for the student for when they run into issues. For example, if they land on a quiz using Safari and the quiz is asking for a password, it would be nice if there was a prompt for the student to open the quiz in Chrome. One shortcoming of Proctorio is that once specific settings within Proctorio, they cannot be reset if a user has taken the assignment/quiz. Their upcoming release of Proctorio addresses this issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I wouldn't say there are any dislikes but we do get a lot of students who question the privacy while using proctorio so that is always a concern. Proctorio works well as a plug-in with Canvas. Students can navigate to the proctored exam by clicking the next button in Canvas, making it very easy for those with little technical experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Students constantly report that they are asked for an access code, even after installing Proctorio and using it in the same class just a few steps prior without the same issue. We then have to reply, "Please ensure you have properly installed Proctorio, then refresh your browser. The access code prompt should disappear; log out and log back in if that does not work." We have to communicate this to students so many times a day. When we refer students to Proctorio support, they report that they did not receive a solution, so we have been forced to complete the student tech support ourselves. We also would prefer to receive an admin notification every time an exam comes back with alerts; however, we have been unable to get this automated through Proctorio.
