It is mostly an AI driven system and hence does not check consistently the exam environment as a human proctor will do. Only good thing that can be said about it is that it is easy to set up. **What do you dislike about Honorlock?** The room scan is especially faulty. It will lauch the exam even if the student does not do a room scan or scan the desk area. It also does not say definitely if a student is using a second devise etc but notes "student may have used". All this makes proctoring nearly useless and pushes a lot of proctoring stuff to faculty. It takes hours and hours of instructor time to go through the videos to decide on a student grade. **What problems is Honorlock solving and how is that benefiting you?** Not benefitting me. Faculty no longer have to jump through hoops to configure proctoring for exams. From the moment we adopted Honorlock, the team provided a lot of time and resources to ensure our launch was successful. This coupled with our dedicated and responsive client support specialist exceeded my expectations. The faculty experience configuring proctoring options is almost too easy with toggle switches to enable or disable proctoring options. **What do you dislike about Honorlock?** Pricing is always a concern with any institution. The college is no different. Unfortunately, because Honorlock is becoming so successful, we will need to look toward the increased costs to support faculty needs. **What problems is Honorlock solving and how is that benefiting you?** The college has changed between three different proctoring solutions in less than 10 years. The previous proctoring solution was unable to keep their promises supporting their product and too often required the vendor to step in to get it to work. Honorlock is winning back disinterested faculty with its simplicity, ease of set up, and mostly flawless faculty and student experiences. ### 3. We had that problem with our last proctor, and we spent a considerable amount of time dealing with proctoring issues. And so it's very nice and refreshing to have Honorlock wanna take the lead on that. **What do you dislike about Honorlock?** There's not much I dislike about Honorlock. One concern is the dual camera option, which faculty like for a better scan, but it's tough for students who can't afford a second camera. Also, we've uncovered some small issues our faculty face, and right now, these issues are pushed to us administratively. It'd be nice if Honorlock could directly communicate potential errors or issues to the faculty. **What problems is Honorlock solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Honorlock to allow faculty to assess students remotely, fitting our asynchronous course model. It won't catch if students skip the room scan. I end up spending over 10 hours per exam reviewing recordings myself. For instance, Honorlock flagged one issue, but I found half of the class needed flags for not following directions. Instructors need the option to customize what the software monitors or require students to use external webcams. The AI should also monitor light changes on student faces and provide more detailed reasons for video flags. Guarding the integrity of an exam requires that all are covered - otherwise students quickly take advantage of the blind spot. The recordings of all of these make it very simple to handle evidence of inappropripate activity. The students can take the exam where they feel comfortable (which handles privacy complaints) when they want (if you allow a time window) and without being crammed into an uncomfortable classroom. No more being jostled/distracted by other students and trying to fit into a small desk space. There are a lot of complaints about the invasion of honorlock. I made a video for my students that simply says "all these issues can be addressed by planning how you want to take the exam". None of the complaints are substantial except you can't combat the idea that "because I don't understand computers I believe anything is possible". **What do you dislike about Honorlock?** Third party exams require Honorlock to work with a different company to make sure the exam can only be accessed when using Honorlock. The system isn't perfect, and sometimes there are loopholes which are hard to fix when two companies need to work together. **What problems is Honorlock solving and how is that benefiting you?** It solves an uncomfortable classroom setting for the students. It also allows me to choose options for the duration and timing of the exam that I can't do in the classroom. The product is designed with students in mind; it is easy to use and is designed to provide a positive testing experience. Honiorlock 7 x 24 live chat support, which is fantastic, is only a click away. Faculty find it easy to set up and use. Honorlock is truly a "best in class" solution compared to the other testing solutions available. **What do you dislike about Honorlock?** No downsides to using Honorlock, which is why I selected this solution for my institution after extensive research. **What problems is Honorlock solving and how is that benefiting you?** Honorlock provides students with a secure and easy-to-use remote proctored testing solution. The product is perfect for addressing academic integrity for exams in hybrid and online courses. It can break down barriers students may face to get to a campus to take an exam. It is easy to set up and I like that a chat support is always there for my students. I use it for all of my exams to basically make sure students do not have their Spanish-speaking friend feeding them answers. **What do you dislike about Honorlock?** Honorlock is relatively sensitive. I check a ton of flags that are not anything serious. Some students freak out because of the flags. Set up is kind of difficult for students because it takes multiple steps, using a certain browser, having your webcam and mic working, etc to use. **What problems is Honorlock solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is making sure my students are the only ones taking the exam without external help. **Official Response from David Dupert:** > Hi Ashley, thank you for your response.
