In my experience, Honorlock has been an effective and easy-to-use online proctoring solution that integrates seamlessly into Canvas and simplifies the online testing process for both faculty and students. The streamlined setup, organized reporting tools, and time-stamped recordings help reduce the amount of time faculty spend monitoring exams while still supporting academic integrity through a combination of AI monitoring and live proctoring. The platform has also been beneficial from an administrative perspective by reducing scheduling challenges, minimizing manual oversight, and providing flexible accommodation options for students. In addition to the platform itself, the level of customer service and support we have received has been excellent. Our Senior Customer Success Manager has been highly responsive, knowledgeable, and proactive in providing guidance, troubleshooting assistance, training opportunities, and updates regarding new features and best practices. While my overall experience with Honorlock has been positive, I do share some concerns regarding the limitations of AI-based proctoring systems. In some cases, the platform may flag normal student behaviors such as looking away from the screen, background noise, or environmental distractions as potential violations, which can create additional review work for instructors and unnecessary stress for students. Additionally, occasional technical issues such as connectivity problems or unclear violation notifications can create frustration for both students and faculty. I like how Honorlock can be utilized for both on ground and online courses every single term; this makes it a very universal tool for any institution. The integration with our educational platform makes it so much easier to use, and implement as a core institutional standard. I love that it fosters an environment to uphold integrity in the classroom, especially with AI cheating becoming a crisis in the classroom. Honorlock is such an easy tool for faculty to set up and then for students to access. The customization features for faculty allow them to use it in the way that they see fit for the type of exam.
