What do you like best about PostgreSQL?

As with all things open source, you can't get much better than free. PostgreSql does the job, and does it well. New features are being developed all the time, so you won't be too far behind the SQL standard if you went to this product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostgreSQL?

If you are expecting top of the line software here, like Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, you will be wrong. Microsoft spends millions of dollars in R&D to move their SQL Server product forward. You won't be getting that level of tech WOW in PostgreSQL. So you will end up having to follow traditional design patterns to accomplish what you are looking for. Recommendations to others considering PostgreSQL:

Highly recommend over any other flavor of relational sql... even supports some NoSQL. Not a fan of Mongo and MySQL is (in my opinion) just a poor man’s Postgres. I know some people like Aurora, I can’t comment because I’ve never personally used it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PostgreSQL?

The way how easy it is to customize the database to suit your needs.

One can use DB Protection for PostgreSQL using IBM Spectrum Protect to have a very efficient and fast backup as it o my backup changes in the database.
