At least first it is not very intuitive that how to make large apps with Dash; how to organize your code (components, views, callbacks, etc.). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I am building web applications for Bioinformatics. Before dash I was using python flask and JavaScript. I guess whoever has worked with these two languages in concert knows how painful that can be...

Especially if you need a lot of cross-talk between the Front- and the Backend you always find yourself lost in al callback & Ajax POST/GET hell. With dash you still have callbacks but at least they are now easily handled on the backend side.

The debbuging tools did improve constantly over time but still not as powerfull as the flask debug toolbar

I love to hate the callbacks and the css files.

I think it would be great if the callbacks could be more dynamic with the outputs and the inputs. about the css, I know it is what it is, but I think that maybe it could be part of the components details or somehow be part of the layout in an abstract way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I can pull together a web app with basic auth for numerous purposes. The obvious is a dashboard. But I have also created a few data cleaning apps and an entire product based on Dash. Dash is the one package out there that's 1. Easy to Use and 2. Extremely flexible. Sure, you can use Flask or Django, but you'll spend days/weeks/months trying to get something basic up and running. You can use WYSIWYG editors, wordpress, etc., but you'll never get to tweak things how you'd like.

I'm a Python developer, and language has so many diverse uses that it's not possible to know them all well enough to move quickly. If you're a data person without the desire to learn web development, Dash is exactly what you need.

I like how I can custom design the webpage using css and even some JS, which really makes the website looks way more aesthetic pleasure than just simple reading a plain chart. The component library is so far pretty robust and complete. This supported most of reporting needs we have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

First, I found that some of the error handling message from dash is not very clean, which makes it hard to debug the code without understanding what's happening under the hood; secondly, although dash already has a good amount of chart type supported, we found that customers still have strong need to use some non-traditional graphs, e.g. network graph, collapsible trees which D3 provides; thirdly and so far the most challenging one, we found that it is challenging and inconsistent working with multiple customer support on the same issue. The support people did not seem to be on the same page and we need to spend a lot of time reviewing the same basic questions. Also, the documentation for server management (e.g. upgrade) is not consistent and cannot be used to solve issue in a self-service manner. Fourth, sometimes the user guide cannot keep up with what's new in dash development and still uses old examples. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
