## NoRedInk Reviews
  ### 1. Excellent Writing Supplement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin S. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

Great writing supplement. I thought it was just grammar practice until I was able to explore the depth and breadth of the program. So many great writing activities with outstanding tutorials. The guided essay drafts are exceptional. The array of quickwrites and the ability to add your own prompts is awesome. And, the fact that there are prompts related to whole works you may read in class allows for greater integration and support of what you are already doing. But, now, the inclusion of AI generated comments for some assignments has really helped take this program to the next level.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

It could be a bit easier to navigate. That's the only drawback that I have encountered so far.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its allowing my students to keep their writing skills sharp.

  ### 2. NoRedInk Is Not Just Grammar Practice

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah C. | Teacher, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2024

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

In addition to the traditional grammar practice, NoRedInk continuously adds more authentic writing opportunities to its platform. For example, they have skill-building quickwrite prompts already created and aligned for teachers to implement. I can filter by grade and and desired skill for students to practice that align with state standards. They also have guided drafts, which provide students with step by step support when drafting multiple different kinds of essays. It also includes exemplar examples for students to use as a model as they are writing. They also allow teachers to create their own prompts and rubrics right in NoRedInk making implementation and integration really seemless.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

The only downside of NoRedInk is that students use it multiple years in a row and the grammar practice is the same, so it gets repetitive without increasing the rigor for the students.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NoRedInk allows for more authentic supported writing in the classroom without teachers doing a lot of the planning. They have prompts, guided drafts, text stacks, and assignments that teachers can easily search by category (skill, genre, theme, etc) and implement in a click of a button giving teachers more time to do all of the other important tasks needed to run a successful classroom.

  ### 3. Great way for students to improve Grammar and Writing Skills!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

Noredink forces students to work to mastery of a skill not just do a worksheet, copy answers and move on. I have seen critical thinking skills even improve as students practice claims, evidence and reasoning exercises.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

There are none. I love this program. It works so simply and easily.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The AI grading assistant helps to provide feedback on student writing exercises that teachers don't always have time to quickly give.

  ### 4. Love it!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tricia D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

NoRedInk allows me to assign individual practice to my students in a gamified way. They love to choose their own characters and favorites for questions.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

The Grading Assistant is still in the new phases and could use improvement, but I know as time goes, it will get better and better and offer more options for prompts!

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Differentiating work among students

  ### 5. Useful Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2024

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

NRI in general is a nice resource to supplement my students' writing skills. The AI grading portion is great in that it's efficient, consistent, and easy to implement. The passages given captured my kids' attention as bonus.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

There's really nothing I dislike about NRI. If I truly had to pick something it would be that more topics and lessons could be added. But there's honestly plenty.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My students get extra practice on weit My skills that we cover in class.

  ### 6. No Red Ink customizes grammar for your students and makes it fun!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lynn S. | ESL Teacher - by the way my screenshot doesn't work and I took a picture of me using Text-em-all but the file wouldn't upload, said it was too big, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2023

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

It is customized to the student, if they get the question wrong, it will be re-phrased and asked again. By contrast, if a student already knows the concept, it won't belabor it and cause the student to become bored and disengaged. Much of the content is free, which is great for school districts where there isn't a lot of money to spend on curriculum.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

Sometimes the students take WAY TOO LONG choosing their favorite interests (characters and names of friends, etc.) which are later incorporated in the lessons (to make it fun, interactive, etc.)

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like that if a student already knows a concept, they get done with it quickly. I remember as a kid having to constantly "learn" stuff I already knew and that was NOT fun. (Please note that either my work computer is broken or we can't take screenshots, so I can't show a screenshot of me using it and when I've tried to upload a picture, it says the file is too big)

  ### 7. Student Problems

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaykob S. | Coder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2022

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

I don't really like anything about this sight but one or two minor adjustments an the thing would be fine. It just has to any downsides compared to good sides.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

I don't like this site. In the beginning it shows up as being cool and quirky but it isn't. It asks you for characters to choose from but the characters are just used for coding names. Secondly the app is extremely punishingly. While it gives you a chance when you get something wrong. Afterwords if you got it right or wrong it still makes you answer 2 more in a row to continue. It also isn't fun a twenty question review took an hours cause i misclicked or got it wrong.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nothing for i do not own a business.

  ### 8. The Best ELA Review Site

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2021

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

This site personalizes learning to make review fun. Students are doing to the same content and standards as on other sites, but because they can choose their interests, student motivation multiplies.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

It takes a little bit of time for some students to get started initially. Because there are so many options for interests, students like to look at every single one before making a decision.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

NoRedInk is great to review writing standards. I use this in conjunction with IXL, Epic, Nearpod and others to ensure that all standards are covered--reading, writing, communication, inquiry, etc.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love reviewing content material with NoRedInk. I do not recommend it without direct instruction, but it is a great tool for reinforcement.

  ### 9. A good resource for grammar

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vincent P. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2020

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

When COVID-19 transitioned my school into digital learning, I was looking for another website, similar to Quill, that would support my students in their independent grammar development. NoRedInk offers that. It allows the teacher to assign diagnostics and practice that leads to quizzes. It has multiple features that allow the teacher to incorporate a writing assessment in addition to grammar assessment. I also like that it is more interactive when it comes to grammar assessment. The interface allows the students to change what they feel needs to be changed--punctuation, capitalization, etc.--thus better revealing what the students would naturally do as writers instead of forcing an answer on them. I also like that the sentences in the activities are tailored to an extent to the students' interests--for instance, involving sentences about Harry Potter.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

I began using NoRedInk after using Quill, which was fantastic. I shifted to NoRedInk because I figured that I had exhausted what Quill offered. One thing that I don't like about it is its lack of grammar instruction--though I may be mistaken. It doesn't seem to provide much assistance or instruction for the activities to the point where my students evidently struggled and received low scores. It doesn't seem as capable of independent pacing or instruction as Quill. Another thing that I didn't like is that whenever a new student joined the class, I had to return to the site and assign the activities that the rest of his/her classmates received. It would be better if there were a way for all students, no matter when they join, to receive the same activities that were assigned to the class.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

If you are considering NoRedInk, think about what you're looking for. Do your students need a little more feedback as they progress through activities? If so, Quill might be better. Would you like activities to appear more natural in order to see what the students are prone to do? NoRedInk will work. If you're looking for writing support/assessment, NoRedInk has features for that as well.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NoRedInk gave me an alternative to another grammar assessment website. I haven't taken the time to explore its other features, but they seem promising.

  ### 10. No red ink frustrates people because of the fact that they talk differently than they write.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2020

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

I hate it but I do like how you can customize sentences with things you like.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

A lot they need to go explain the difference between how we talk vs how we should write.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

  ### 11. Makes grammar fun

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hannah B. | Secondary teacher , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2019

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

It is actually helpful in getting students to understand the mechanics of grammar without being boring!

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

The free version is pretty limited, which is hard if your school doesn’t have the budget for a premium version.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

It is definitely worth it if your kids are struggling with grammar!

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes grammar instruction fun and worthwhile. It is also data-rich!

  ### 12. NoRedInk will get your students writing better!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Claudia L. | teacher, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2017

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

I really like that I can personalize my instruction. I teach English Language Learners so I like that after the Diagnostic Test, I can choose what lesson the student gets. My students are at different levels, so differentiation is crucial.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

I don't like that when I entered the students' name, the system automatically creates a user name which includes the 1st initial and last name, but the 1st initial IS NOT CAPITALIZED. I teach this rule and now the students see that a company doesn't follow this rule. And this company is all about grammar and writing rules.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

I wish NoRedInk had diagnostic tests for 7th and 8th graders. For now, this isn't a problem because my students are reading/writing on a 4th-6th grade level. However, if they make great strides later in the year I'd like to reasses them.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This program helps me differentiate and really meet the needs of my students.

  ### 13. No Red Ink - Great for

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica T. | Instructional Assistant, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

I love that it tracks each student's individual growth, this is probably my favorite feature so that I can make sure each student is performing at the level that is right for them. I love that you can cumulative class mastery or each individuals mastery and progress.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

There have been times when the program has glitched or caused issues as children were using it. There have been typos and spelling errors which have also caused minor problems, all of which were talked through and re-explained.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

It's a great program to help support the students after learning the material. For me, it helps me see how the kids are doing as far as mastery to what I am teaching.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's multifunctional and all in one place. I can track their progress, choose which lessons I feel are most pertinent at the time and have them working at home with explanations to support the work and the learning that we are doing in the classroom.

  ### 14. Excellent Tool for Langauge and Grammar instruction

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2018

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

I love that I can assign a diagnostic, then practice, and finally a quiz. Students can go at their own pace!

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

Some of the writing units are currently too long, but I believe No Red Ink is working on shortening those. The lessons do not always make sense to all students, so it is best to teach the concept, then do the diagnostic, practice, and quiz cycle.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

Do think about teaching the lessons first, and then having students use NoRedInk to practice. Set aside some time for initial set up- it allows students to choose shows and books from which characters will be incorporated into the grammar questions (which can lead you to hilarious scenarios!) but it does take students some time to work through that.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No Red Ink allows me to address grammar in a clear, controlled manner. Students simply practice and quiz, and I can see their areas of confusion. I love that NoRedInk grades for me, and I can quickly see where my students succeed and where they need more help.

  ### 15. No Red Ink - Free Version

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michele S. | 8th Grade ELA Teacher, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2017

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

I love that I can individualize instruction for my students with this program. When a student is struggling on a particular concept, I can adjust No Red Ink to assist him/her. I can also quiz and assign practices. The free version allows you to track most progress of the student.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

I called to find out how much it would cost to implement the full version of the program, and for a campus of 125, it would cost over $8000 with a required training. I dislike that the training is required for the purchase of the school package.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

It's great for the free version!

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving grammar problems, which is incredibly important because we are discouraged from directly teaching grammar in the classroom with the implementation of common core.

  ### 16. Excellent for Grammar review.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2017

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

One of the best features of NoRedInk is that it has the student select topics, TV shows, sports, artists, and actors that are interesting to them. They also have the students type their friends names. NoRedInk then generations all of the work using their selected interests and friends.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

There is limited features in the free plan. I wish there were more options available to the free content users.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

It is great for struggling students. It targets their interests and adjusts to their skill level.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows students to be assigned homework or tasks that are specific to their needs. They take a placement quiz that identifies areas of strength and areas of need. NoRedInk then creates specific lessons geared to those areas of need.

  ### 17. Not too shabby

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Estella G. | Special Education Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2017

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

I like that I can use it to work with students especially when teaching them new skills. I also like their email updates.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

I haven't had too many issues. The site was easy to set up and it is easy to keep. My students are always engaged.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

I think this is wonderful if you are working with lower level students. The breakdown and ease of the site makes everything so easy and painless when teachers have no time!

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

N/A- have had a wonderful experience so far.

  ### 18. NoRedInk

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Courtney N. | Eng I & Eng III Teacher, Primary/Secondary Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2017

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

I love that it allows me to create assignments that are individualized and diferentiated! It makes it super easy for my sped/504 students to do the same assignment while including their accommodations.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

Sometimes it’s a little difficult for students to navigate.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

This is free and a really great resource for schools implementing tech in the classroom.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving students the ability to utilize technology in the classroom, without having to pay for expensive software. We are a small rural district and this helps us out.

  ### 19. Such a handy tool!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Killian P. | Teacher, Primary/Secondary Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

This is an easy tool to give kids practice with grammar skills! We use it often with 7th and 8th grade to review old knowledge, practice new knowledge, and quiz. They also have fantastic customer service.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

Sometimes I don't love the way things are organized or quizzed, but for the most part I've been able to work around that. There are also certain terms I wish were included, but they are responsive to feedback!

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No Red Ink makes it easy to personalize student practice in grammar. Student understanding is what determines how much practice and review they get. They continue to improve and add, too, so there are lots of new features to help your kids.

  ### 20. Noredink rocks for grammar review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danielle H. | ESOL Teacher, Education Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2017

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

I like how student-centered the program is since it allows students to choose their interests and then incorporate those interests within the sentences!

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

I wish there were grammatical concepts for ELL students. Some of the sentences use words that are too abstract or difficult for my ELL students.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have realized the great benefit this brings into the classroom.

  ### 21. A lifesaver for teaching the fundamentals

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chinesa R. | Tutor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2017

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

Kids relate to it very well. It is super easy to use for children and they understand it. It's great for teachers because you can track each student individually and the class as whole and adapt lessons at multiple levels. I wish I had known about NoRedInk when I first started teaching.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

I cant say I have experienced any problems with NoRedInk.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NoRedInk allows students a platform to practice fundamental grammar skills independently and at their own pace.

  ### 22. NoRedInk-so versatile

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2017

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

I like that I can tailor assignments to each student or assign a lesson to the entire class. The lessons are easy to understand and the practice helps the students master each concept.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

Not so easy to purchase for just one class.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use NoRedInk as an individual review for students needing extra practice with grammar and writing conventions.

  ### 23. Online Platform for Learning

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2016

**What do you like best about NoRedInk?**

As a teacher, I'm a fan of online platforms for learning. Nothing can replace direct instruction from a effective teacher. However, NoRedInk is interactive, engaging, and tracks students progress well. It meets students were they are currently at in the learning. That way students do not get bored because they already know the material. On the other hand, they do not get frustrated when they don't know the material. I have seen both sides of this with my students when they are worked on a different online platform. My students as like the fact that NoRedInk asks for their interests and then incorporates that into their learning.

**What do you dislike about NoRedInk?**

The product can seem a little overwhelming at first because of all the different aspects/learning objectives that are present. My students did not at first understand the idea of a diagnostic test. They became frustrated when they did not know how to correctly do something. But once they were through the diagnostic test onto their own individual learning pathway, they were less frustrated. I wish that NoRedInk could like up with other data from different platforms, so my students do not have to take a diagnostic test every time they are learning a new concept. We also use NWEA Map testing. This would be a great source of data for NoRedInk to collect data from to cut down on the diagnostic part of the site.

**Recommendations to others considering NoRedInk:**

It is an interactive, engaging, and effective tool to help develop students' grammar.

**What problems is NoRedInk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is solving the students' reluctant nature to practice necessary grammar rules. Students are more engaged than they would be with typical grammar lessons. And NoRedInk holds their attention longer on one aspect of grammar, allowing them ample amount of time to practice.
