Under the surface, there were so many other restrictions (such as not being able to make minor adjustments!) that the software on their business lite package is not functional even for a small company with low requirements. Customer service is awful and you will have to call multiple times to get a response. If you want to waste time, money and being treated with disrespect switch over to MYOB. **What problems is MYOB solving and how is that benefiting you?** Business accounting software. If would be helpful if their software wasn't poor. ### 2. I just go to the payment and receipt section to enter all relevant business transactions, then head to the report section to print the reports. One think I particularly dislike is that contacts have to be either a customer or a supplier, which means you have to make them as one of each if you ever want to sell them something and buy something off them - which can happen in various situations I encounter at work. Xero doesn't differentiate so a contact is a contact, regardless of whether you buy from or sell to them. Another irritation is that Xero has a readily available Account Transactions report, where you can pick one or more P & L accounts and see what transactions are in it for a given time period. MYOB kinda has it but you have to go looking, and the results come up in their standard pop-up windows. **What problems is MYOB solving and how is that benefiting you?** Keeping track of all revenue and expenditure at the model railway club I'm a member of. They used to have the installed version but switched to the online version last year, which is great as I live about 20 minutes from the club but don't get all that much time to be there so can log in on the train on my daily commute and reconcile transactions when it's convenient for me to do so. ### 18. It was very problematic as I wanted to switch to Xero but there were lot of complication. If the developers had committed to going entirely online instead of this partial online/offline hybrid approach, then perhaps this would be a different review. **What do you dislike about MYOB?** It's not possible to use the online version for everything an SME requires. Instead, you have to use a version only available on Windows. And when you do dig out that old Windows machine, the software won't work as it's out of date. Then it won't upgrade itself, so you have to completely uninstall it and reinstall it again. How come it has to be so difficult? **What problems is MYOB solving and how is that benefiting you?** It mostly causes problems as opposed to solving them. The main realisation is that we need to look for an alternative accounting solution. ### 20. It is a useful tool for paying wages and issuing payslips and keeping tabs on sick pay, holiday pay, and personal leave accrual as well. All of my superannuation is also recorded directly to the ATO. **What do you dislike about MYOB?** Wages sometimes need to be corrected as the time sheets do not pull through correctly. **What problems is MYOB solving and how is that benefiting you?** MYOB is suitable for all business. I have two different businesses and both use MYOB effectively. MYOB able to pay wages every fortnight for both businesses. This enables me to track exactly what is happening with everyone's different sick leave and holiday entitlements easily. It is also not too pricy. I like being able to invoice, create reports and create quotes from it quickly. I particularly like the "tray" feature, which makes it handy to track expenses **What do you dislike about MYOB?** It lacks some apparent features, such as being able to send Remittance Advice to suppliers. Further, it can sometimes be hard to navigate. There are a lot of "hidden" features that you discover once you look into it more and more. **What problems is MYOB solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a small business, we used to account on Excel; bank reconciliations used to be very time-consuming and challenging. Compared to newer cloud based accounting systems, it seems quite far behind now. Updating company files is a fast and easy process Suitable for expense tracking, Purchase Orders, and invoicing. Updating the software itself Thankfully have implemented a cloud-based version **What do you dislike about MYOB?** MYOB desktop is only available for Windows-based machine Updating a particular version results in having multiple versions of the same software on the server/desktop, which can be very confusing. Cloud version is costly Admin support can sometimes be a pain It can be very buggy. Different versions with different names can be very confusing. **Recommendations to others considering MYOB:** There are competing software out there, but MYOB has been in the market for a long time. Best to compare with other software to see what works best for your organization. **What problems is MYOB solving and how is that benefiting you?** Invoicing, expensive tracking, tax, payroll and time management. ### 33.
