Power BI can feel limited when handling very large datasets or complex transformations compared to more code-first tools. Although Power BI is powerful, it can struggle with very large datasets and complex transformations. Improved performance tuning, better debugging for DAX, and more flexible data-modeling and transformation capabilities would make it even more effective.

I use Microsoft Power BI to create dashboards and generate insights from various data sources. I appreciate how Row Level Security helps me to share reports where reps can only view their numbers, and the team leads can view their entire team’s numbers. I also like the Co-pilot feature, which helps me to uncover trends and insights and is particularly useful for conducting root cause analysis. Additionally, I find the initial setup quite easy.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Power BI?**

Power BI Desktop does not work on MacBook which feels like a limitation. The UX feels like it can be worked upon a little.

I like that with Microsoft Power BI, we moved from using the default visuals to Deneb Visuals, which allow me to code and create custom visuals using JavaScript. It offers a solution to our automation and analytics problems, making reporting and analytics more efficient. The initial setup was also very easy; I simply downloaded the executable file and installed it. This usability has been a huge plus.

I use Microsoft Power BI to visualize data and build dashboards that help track performance and identify trends, making it easier to understand data at a glance. One of the aspects I like most about Power BI is its interactive dashboards and drill-down capabilities. I can click on any chart or data point and instantly see deeper insights without creating separate reports, which accelerates analysis, makes it more dynamic, and simplifies understanding, especially when I need to explain trends or breakdowns to others. The drill-down features are particularly valuable as they allow me to explore data at multiple levels and understand the reasons behind the numbers. I also value Power Query for its streamlined and user-friendly data transformation capabilities, which is one of the key reasons my team switched from Pentaho to Power BI. The setup process was simple, and connecting data sources with Power BI Desktop was quick. Overall, the combination of interactive dashboards, Power Query, and DAX makes Power BI a great tool for analytics. I would rate it 9 out of 10 due to its powerful features and ease of use once you get the flow.

Power BI provides very limited support for automation. We still find some part of data source setup and connection with Azure with vNet gateway configuration to be manual, which is difficult when rest of the system is automated.

Since it integrates smoothly with our data sources, our dashboards are always up to date, and the responsive customer support makes the experience even better.
