The write-back planning solution also contains commentary functionality, with the possibility of annotating every available data intersection. The semantic data model brings together data from the aforementioned areas, projects and operating expenses, and fact data from other areas. For example, Collectiv integrated our CRM data so that we are able to analyze it for financial planning purposes. The reporting and governance opportunity from this project is robust and only limited by the imagination of the developer. **What do you like best about Collectiv?** Collectiv has harnessed the Microsoft data platform to create a highly flexible financial planning solution. In my experience with other products, there have been limitations that include an inflexible data architecture structure (i.e. we have to fit our data to the product), high price tag, and proprietary reporting mechanisms with limitations for distribution. Collectiv took the time to understand our business, which was evident throughout the implementation. **What do you dislike about Collectiv?** Overall our experience with Collectiv has been very positive. The devil is often in the details, so there were some aspects of the implementation that could have potentially been better, but I don't think these were out of the ordinary for any implementation. **Recommendations to others considering Collectiv:** I personally believe in the power of the Microsoft data platform for ETL/data storage, analysis, and reporting. Collectiv comprehensively brought these elements together with some of the best in the business. Get ready to work with a group that's just as much invested in your success as you are. **What problems is Collectiv solving and how is that benefiting you?** We created a global financial planning and analysis mechanism, which didn't exist prior to the implementation with Acterys. We have been operating on an outdated planning system for years. That system had parsed data for specific purposes and was therefore NOT a global, enterprise-wide system. For example, some newer business unit didn't have their own data models to plan against and remained on Excel worksheets. The fundamental goal behind the project with Collectiv was to create data models where all data from across the entire company could be planned against and that's what they did. The benefits of this are potentially immeasurable.
