Kintone gave our operations team enough control to adjust forms, add fields, and refine views without turning every small request into a development ticket. That independence is useful, but we learned fairly quickly that no-code does not mean no governance. During the first few months, too many people had permission to change applications, and the result was predictable: duplicate fields, inconsistent naming, and formulas that only made sense to the person who created them. We eventually assigned an owner to each app, introduced conventions for field codes, and added a review step before changes reached production. Lookup and Related Records have been especially valuable when several workflows depend on the same information. Instead of copying the client, project, technical owner, and contract type into every new record, we pull those values from the source app and display linked requests, incidents, or deliveries inside the main record. To non-technical users, it feels like they are working in a single system. Underneath, we can still keep separate apps with cleaner responsibilities and avoid turning one giant form into the company’s entire operating model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Kintone? Kintone gives us enough visual flexibility for internal applications, but it starts showing its limits when the experience needs to feel highly tailored. Fields, groups, tables, and spacing are easy enough to arrange, but precise control over labels, responsive behavior, layouts, or interactive components usually means adding JavaScript, CSS, or a plug-in. We ran into that while building an app for field technicians. The team wanted every piece of information visible on a single screen so they would not have to move through tabs or extra steps, and we tried to accommodate it. The form technically worked, but it became dense, slower to scan, and harder to use on smaller screens. We spent some time trying to improve it with CSS before accepting that the problem was not the styling. The structure itself was overloaded. Simplifying the form and showing only the information technicians needed at each stage produced a much better result than continuing to decorate a layout that had already become too complicated. A client integration required sandbox credentials, endpoints, technical contacts, API versions, test results, and several approvals before it could move into production. The issue was that all of this information was scattered across emails, support tickets, and a shared spreadsheet that two different people had already organized in completely different ways. We built an integrations app in Kintone and used Process Management to move each record through Discovery, Development, Client Testing, and Production Ready. Lookup pulled client data from our main app, and Related Records surfaced the incidents and deliverables tied to each integration. Our first version was too strict. We made so many fields mandatory that the team started entering placeholder values just to move a record forward. That technically satisfied the workflow, but it made the data less reliable. We adjusted the validation rules by status and added a JavaScript API customization that checked only the information required for each transition. Later, we connected the REST API to our deployment service so the release identifier and deployment result were written back to Kintone automatically. The platform didn’t remove the technical work, and it didn’t prevent us from designing a bad first version. What it changed was where that effort went. Instead of building and maintaining another internal application from scratch, we focused on the process, the validation logic, and the integrations that actually mattered. Engineering, QA, and operations ended up working from the same record, blockers became easier to spot, and we stopped asking the client for information that someone else on the team had already collected. Being able to build fields and organize information around our specific workflows was extremely appealing, especially compared to other similar products with fixed functions or having to pay over $15K to get something closer to custom. After merging two companies across three locations, we relied heavily on emails and PDFs for communication and approvals, which resulted in inconsistent processes. Kintone helped us standardize approval workflows by routing requests to the appropriate authorized personnel and making approvals simple and efficient. We no longer need to manage documents across multiple folders or locations, as everything is centralized. Kintone’s no-code flexibility allows us to easily create and customize forms and workflows to fit our business needs. Kintone also offers some of the best customer service in the industry. Their support team communicates clearly, responds quickly, and actively follows up after providing guidance to ensure issues are fully resolved. They have proven to be very reliable partners. However, it would be helpful to also receive clearer and more proactive notifications about newly released features or plug-ins. This has improved consistency, visibility, and control in our internal processes. The developers use the product themselves, and they have managed to keep the development process really simple and budget-friendly. The initial setup has been pretty straightforward, and even though we are still in the development phase with some pieces still being built, it's understandable given our in-depth requirements for the apps we need to build. Kintone has made unifying our processes and procedures easier and keeps our reporting simple. It's definitely making things more organized for us. Plus, transitioning from another product has been notably smoother; it only took us about four to six months with Kintone compared to the two years it took with Zoho. I really appreciate how Kintone provides us with a robust database that we can configure and change as we have more needs. Once again, I must highlight the outstanding customer service, beginning from the sales team to initial calls and onboarding, through to the ongoing customer service and support over the years. Anything I would come up with would be nitpicking, and I don't even use it. I'm more of on the programming web development side, so we got this for our staff. Our everyday staff use it with little input from IT support, we don't ever get any IT tickets about it. So it just works. I don't know if you can improve it. Love how easy it is to use and create workflows to manage our business, even without a dedicated developer. I am shocked at how flexible it is and how much we have been able to automate and integrate with other systems we use. Support is great, cost is incredibly low, and the options are endless. We love Kintone and continue to find new uses and applications for it within our business and managing our processes. Seriously, we have 0 complaints or issues with Kintone. We have a multi step process that involves different departments and separate workflows that are managed in separate Kintone applications that link together and share information between them. It allows us to seamlessly work on order processing on 2 different levels at the same time to properly manage purchase orders and delivery of those items. We also have a customized set of documents that we need signed by our customers and all of that is automatically generated and sent out at the push of a button in Kintone because of integrations with other service providers. And all of this can be managed and run by the individual person assigned to each part of the process, which keeps everyone on track and aware of the work that is in their queue.
