Large user base, fairly intuitive, constant improvements, good customer service.
Email takes forever to download, going back and cataloging and filing older emails is time-consuming. Report queries are not intuitive, take some practice; consequently only two people in our group can run customized reports.
There are several systems available now, more than when we chose Inteum, so take a look at all before deciding. However, consider my comments about the installed base, the large user community, Inteum's excellent customer service, and their fairly consistent improvement cycle. Some tech transfer offices have opted for customized solutions, and if you have a large enough office and budget to support that it might be best. But most folks I've talked with that started with a customized solution eventually moved over to one of the vendors, and that has been Inteum as often as not. No system is perfect - in 20+ years I've never heard anyone rave about their database system. I've heard some brag about their customized systems, but they've also admitted that they require in-house expertise and a significant budget to maintain it. For small - mid-size offices, I'd give Inteum a strong recommendation.
Inteum is the best of the tech transfer databases that we've seen for collecting, organizing, tracking, and reporting the massive amounts of data we produce each year.
