What do you like best about Inteum?

What do you dislike about Inteum?

We are not most academic TLOs and the nature of our deal structures requires that we modify and tailor Inteum to our specific use case; for example, (a) connecting Inteum to other ERM, financial, or IP asset resources via software-coded synching routines, or (b) adapting our unique policies/contracts to a distributions cycle that is fully supported by Inteum. We also need to consolidate our real-reporting abilities. Keystroke response times can also be quite slow for our web-hosted account. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Optimizing Inteum for project indexing"

What do you like best about Inteum?

We're using Inteum for indexing our project information that includes some intellectual property assets but mainly for agreement logging and all association information for a project. It has great uses for showing relational data and provides an excellent source for producing reports for all project related information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Inteum?

The unfortunate part about using Inteum outside of its intended purposes is that it requires some discovery about how to use the existing fields and how to develop User Defined Fields. As a result it has taken a lot of collaboration and requests back and forth with Inteum team members in order to get the uses out of the tool. This is still a work in a progress, but as I come across obstacles the representatives and the IT support have been very accommodating to provide me with what I need. Recommendations to others considering Inteum:

the system is great for managing IP and even for managing grant funding, as their receivables end for reporting is very robust. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Inteum solving and how is that benefiting you?

Reporting is increasingly requested and as a result inputting all the requested information into a database provides a quick solution to reporting on different levels of information that are related. In the past, much of the information in the reports are populated manually and could be automated through the use of Inteum. The challenge is often times we require developing the report from scratch since we aren't using Inteum for its intended purposes. What do you like best about Inteum?

Everything is all in one place. All the things I need to effectively manage my portion of the Tech Transfer office is easily accessed, reports, searches, etc. Our account representative is super nice as well and always readily available for questions. The webinars are great too. My favorite feature is the daily reminder of activities due as it keeps me on top of deadlines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Inteum?

My problems are not with Inteum themselves. Our internal firewall and robust IT Security prevent us from accessing all of the available features. E-mail manager is non-functional for us at the moment and will take about a 6 month review process within the health system to get it running. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Inteum solving and how is that benefiting you?

Quickly creating reports for our Board of Directors meetings and other various meetings that require updates on patent metrics. Staying on top of patent deadlines with the automatic reminders. The Outlook Plugin is a huge benefit to conveniently store correspondence from Patent Attorneys. Other features have not been fully utilized due to server issues internally. What do you like best about Inteum?

What do you dislike about Inteum?

Email takes forever to download, going back and cataloging and filing older emails is time-consuming. Report queries are not intuitive, take some practice; consequently only two people in our group can run customized reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Inteum:

There are several systems available now, more than when we chose Inteum, so take a look at all before deciding. However, consider my comments about the installed base, the large user community, Inteum's excellent customer service, and their fairly consistent improvement cycle. Some tech transfer offices have opted for customized solutions, and if you have a large enough office and budget to support that it might be best. But most folks I've talked with that started with a customized solution eventually moved over to one of the vendors, and that has been Inteum as often as not. No system is perfect - in 20+ years I've never heard anyone rave about their database system. I've heard some brag about their customized systems, but they've also admitted that they require in-house expertise and a significant budget to maintain it. For small - mid-size offices, I'd give Inteum a strong recommendation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Great tool to track all TTO activities and deadlines. Great logistics. Excellent customer service. It is very reliable. Data migration is probably the biggest obstacle to implementing Inteum. Because Inteum is capable of so much more, there is often missing data that will later need to be manually filled in. Inteum is our contract archive and since all colleagues can access the items, questions can be answered more easily. However we are still strugling how to extract the necessary management information (partly due to the fact that we often have to build new fields and pages for specific questions).
