What do you like best about Heimdal?

I really appreciate Heimdal's fast and responsive support team, which is much quicker than most other vendors I've dealt with. The privilege elevation feature is a standout, making me feel much safer about admin access risks. What do you dislike about Heimdal?

The main drawback is the lack of high-level, easy-to-use reporting. It's difficult to quickly get clear dashboards or summaries to show progress, patching rates, or server reboots, which makes it hard to demonstrate value in board meetings. What do you like best about Heimdal?

I really like the ease of the dashboard for querying update status and compliance, as well as Heimdal's ability to manage patching for devices over the internet—not just those on the corporate network. What do you dislike about Heimdal?

I dislike the misleading information shown on the endpoint, specifically the 'up to date' tick that appears even when a device has only been on for a short time. What do you like best about Heimdal?

The automation is the best aspect for me—Heimdal takes care of updates for third-party applications and device drivers without manual intervention. It has revealed applications installed that I wasn't even aware of, and has significantly reduced our threat score. What do you dislike about Heimdal?

If I’m being really picky, although the initial support response is quick and helpful, I feel the troubleshooting could be more thorough. For instance, when we’ve had remote control issues, the support team sometimes closes tickets too quickly or assumes the problem is on our side, instead of proactively investigating by pulling logs or clearly suggesting next steps. What do you dislike about Heimdal?

I struggle navigating around their admin portal as it is complex and can be illogical in its navigation. Deciding whether to go to Account settings/config or Endpoint settings is a problem; we often end up trying both to find the options we need. It's almost impossible to find the 'installer download' and 'activation key'; putting them in the 'guide' is not logical. And why do you need to log in to get the installer download? It should be available on a public page. Forcing a login makes it hard to direct clients to an installer, so we've made it available via our website support pages. Also, as far as I know, there are no links or admin connections between Heimdal and the RMM Management system Ninja RMM. It would be useful if there was a connection. What do you like best about Heimdal?

It just works.

We use Patch Management, E-mail Security and Remote Desktop modules from the Heimdal portfolio. All these products run through a single agent and consistently perform well. We push Microsoft patches every month to clients and servers without issue (and more reliably than something like WSUS) , Remote Desktop is simple to use as an admin, just right-click the agent search for the user you want to connect to and go, and E-mail Security Spam filtering catches the majority of the bad things.

Heimdal also creates a decent asset register for each device you install the agent on.

Support is also responsive and helpful, normally coming back with an answer in only 30 minutes! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Heimdal?

First time setup can be a little challenging. Patch management group policies took a little bit of getting used to the way Heimdal uses its terminology but once you crack it, it just ticks along.

Spam filtering could be a little more flexible, the previous product we used was able to manage allow/deny lists per user. Heimdal takes a more global approach so you tend to be allowing an email for the entire domain.

A little more control of client machines would be helpful. Some alternative products allow you to force a reboot for instance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Heimdal?

The Heimdal platform contains many different component. We are only subscribed to the two that currently fit our business needs: Patch & Asset Management, and Remote Desktop. The former is a superb tool for automated patching of operating systems and 3rd party software, plus contains a tool to deploy custom scripts and applications - very versitile. The Remote Desktop solution works well, with the added plus of straightforward setup; as our end user devices already had the Heimdal agent installed it was straightforward to push the new tool to devices.

Finally, and most importantly, the support team are exceptional. There have been a few queries from ourselves, and each one was met with professionalism wiith a concerted effort to find a resolution. The work completed by the support team in some cases exceeded expectations, with complete scripted solutions designed and implemented to improve our IT estate. What do you dislike about Heimdal?

Our initial setup & deployment was discovered not to utilise best practise after over one year of being customers. This caused some issues in terms of upgrading the agents installed on our devices, and while the support team were once again fantastic in getting the issue resolved, the inital communication regarding deployment could be improved. What do you like best about Heimdal?

The nice thing about Heimdal is the fact that it enables auto updating of some very basic and favorite apps. This is a really nice feature as a lot of users often fail to update the software that this updates. The interface is clean, and easy to use as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Overall, there is not a lot that I dislike. There appears to be a few bugs in the fact that it will not remember you ran a scan.
