Now I cannot use this option to access this search. I also find the filters truly valuable, particularly if I know who the document author was or who owns the file or folder. The privacy settings also give me peace of mind that anything I deem confidential will stay that way. **What do you dislike about Glean?** So far, I truly don't have any complaints with Glean. It integrates so well into every day use and has so much functionality I haven't even touched yet - I think just my list of "likes" will be growing as time goes on. **What problems is Glean solving and how is that benefiting you?** Finding what I need (info, documents, owners, etc) in a timely manner. We use Google Drive for our company files/documentation/everything - and the Drive search is rudimentary at best. Glean makes searching even the most random reference ('I think the document said "cranberries" somewhere in it" and voila, there it is!) so much more efficient and accurate. ### 4. It's especially helpful for Confluence, which has awful search. The fact that it indexes my private documents is also impressive and very handy. Since we installed glean, I have never once gone to the individual interfaces for these apps to search for anything. Glean is very fast. The browser plugin makes it even more effective. The quality of results is awesome, and it can nearly always guess the right data source to retrieve the content from and rank the results appropriately. It has the ability to share knowledge not only with myself but also with other colleagues, and to design flexible access routes to information within the company. Though the organization is continually looking to centralize, curate and make it easier to find what I need, the bottom line is that a powerful search engine will be required regardless. Glean is such an engine. It's where I go to look across all the sources and point me in the right direction. It's simple, yet comprehensive... mostly (see my dislike below). **What do you dislike about Glean?** The largest challenge in uptake AFAICT is making the data available for indexing. For various reasons (mostly security), organizations can choose to limit the scope of what can be indexed by Glean. This creates the obvious downside that information not being indexed will not show up in search results. This isn't a problem with Glean per se, though it does highlight the inherent balance between providing as much information available in results without exposing that which is more sensitive. **What problems is Glean solving and how is that benefiting you?** Making available that which I need to be successful in my day-to-day activities. Reducing time to find (RTTF?) what I need is a highly valuable benefit. ### 22. There's a lot to learn and many places to search to find the information you need. This tool makes it sooo easy to find what you need. Glean was integrated a year after I joined my company, and certain older docs appear not to be recommended as results that often. That said, these are usually 5-10% of my searches. Glean is a single search engine for everything I use at work. I love that I can easily get to my search when I open a new tab in Chrome, search is lightning fast (this is a big one), and that I can search across all my work apps in the one place. I also use Glean when I need more information on colleagues and it's so handy not having to open yet another tool. Some of the more advanced features I enjoy are "go links" (I created go/time for timesheets and I also use go links for all of my engagements as a consultant, this way I always have a quick way to get to the info I need). Collections initially seemed like a label or tagging system on the surface, but it's fast becoming my favorite feature because it's deeply integrated with Glean search in a way that allows me to add descriptions to items, sorting items, and adding links that aren't in the index yet. New features and improvements come frequently and the product is always improving. **What do you dislike about Glean?** One of the difficulties has been getting company-wide adoption, to make better use of things like go links and collections. We're looking to roll out the chrome plugin on all machines to address this. Our source of people data was also a little unique, and we had people spread across multiple regions. This meant that filtering that data by region was challenging at times, though it has improved with recent updates. **What problems is Glean solving and how is that benefiting you?** Glean solves the problem of multiple SaaS tools that lead to a subpar search experience (in terms of slow or difficult to operate search, and not knowing which tool will contain the information you're looking for). Being able to quickly find what you need at work can be difficult, and with many tools and a lot of data, sometimes it's easier to recreate content than spend time searching for it, or worse still you may never find or know that a certain bit of content exists. There's also the problem of context switching when searching. Each SaaS tool tends to have its own different way of searching, its own page with a list of results, and you end up with open tabs everywhere as you try to look for a piece of content. At the end of the day, the benefit is a streamlined search experience, and being able to quickly find what I'm looking for. I tend to use search a lot more as I now enjoy the experience and can find content much quicker and get back to my task at hand. ### 28. Maybe one day Glean will offer personal licenses so that individuals can benefit if they have the need. I'd love to see that offering and would have it up and running ASAP. **What problems is Glean solving and how is that benefiting you?** Not only is Glean searching faster than native offerings, but the ability to search several apps at a time is also a huge time saver. This is great for IT and InfoSec as we now have even better visibility to where important data is stored. While not a huge part of their service, we're also in love with their Org Chart.
