"Caught a Real Secret in a Real Project, Fast and Developer-Friendly"
What do you like best about GitGuardian?

this week it literally saved me from committing a real secret in a small personal Python project. It caught the credential immediately and showed me exactly where it was and how to rotate it. That kind of fast feedback is the main value: it scans commits and PRs in real time, integrates cleanly with GitHub, and gives actionable remediation steps instead of just raising an alarm. It’s very developer-friendly and doesn’t slow down your workflow Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitGuardian?

initial tuning takes some time to reduce false positives and configure ignore rules for non-sensitive test data. Some advanced reporting and bulk management features could be more streamlined in the UI Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Instant Secret Detection That Scales to Large Repos"
What do you like best about GitGuardian?

What I like best about GitGuardian is how it automatically detects secrets and sensitive data in code — even in large repositories and alerts you instantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitGuardian?

One thing I dislike about GitGuardian is that it can sometimes generate false positives, which requires manual review and can slow things down slightly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Accurate Secret Detection with Seamless GitHub Integration"
What do you like best about GitGuardian?

it is very easy to implement and does not require heavy configuration to start delivering value. The onboarding process is straightforward, and integrations with GitHub and CI/CD pipelines work smoothly, allowing teams to get up and running quickly. I use GG frequently as part of daily development and code review workflows, and it fits naturally without slowing anyone down.

Customer support has been responsive and helpful whenever clarification or guidance was needed, especially during initial setup and alert tuning. The accuracy of secret detection, combined with clear alerts and remediation guidance, makes it a practical security tool that developers actually trust and consistently use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitGuardian?

The pricing may seem somewhat steep for smaller teams or early-stage startups, particularly when expanding usage to multiple repositories. At first, some alerts might need to be adjusted to minimize unnecessary notifications, which involves a bit of a learning curve. Furthermore, the advanced features and options for policy customization could offer greater flexibility, especially for organizations that have highly specific internal security processes. "Fast Secret Detection with Clear Alerts and an Easy Dashboard"
What do you like best about GitGuardian?

GitGuardian helps detect exposed secrets, such as API keys and credentials, in repositories very quickly. The alerts are clear, and the dashboard is easy to understand, making it simpler for developers to identify and fix security issues faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitGuardian?

At times, the alerts can feel a bit overwhelming, especially for new users. It can also take a little while to get familiar with the dashboard and fully understand all of its features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Instant Secrets Detection with Actionable Alerts"
What do you like best about GitGuardian?

GitGuardian delivers immediate detection and response. When a sensitive file, credential, or secret slips into a commit, it flags it within seconds and pinpoints the exact line that triggered the alert. The platform forces clarity: it shows the severity, lets me classify the criticality, and pushes fast remediation instead of noise. The value is precision, speed, and zero guesswork. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitGuardian?

The alerting is fast, but the volume can feel heavy when working across multiple repos with frequent commits. False positives still appear, which adds review time. The remediation steps are clear, yet the interface for navigating multiple incidents can feel cluttered, and sorting through similar alerts requires extra manual filtering. "GitGuardian Makes Catching Accidental GitHub Password Leaks Easy"
What do you like best about GitGuardian?

I like that GitGuardian can easily detect passwords that are accidentally uploaded to GitHub. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitGuardian?

I dislike the fact that it cannot auto know when these uploaded passwords are a test hence users have to wait to upload and rush to git guardian in other to cancel revoke request so the already submitted env doesn't become useless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Experience while developing software product"
What do you like best about GitGuardian?

I like GitGuardian best for its real-time detection of secrets (like API keys and credentials) in both public and private repositories, its easy integration with developer tools and CI/CD pipelines, and its powerful, intuitive dashboard for incident management. The platform groups and prioritizes alerts smartly, minimizing false positives and enabling fast, context-aware remediation. Many reviewers also mention its broad language support, seamless integration with GitHub and GitLab, and automated remediation workflows as standout features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitGuardian?

While GitGuardian is a great tool, there are occasional false positives that require manual review. Setting up custom policies or integrating with certain on-prem pipelines also takes a bit more work. However, these minor issues are outweighed by the overall value the platform provides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
