Surprisingly easy to our data out of vendors and in to a warehouse where we can query it. Free plan is generous enough to know it will work and performance has been great. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** Could have more connectors to cover more apps on the market, I think this should be expanded without compromising the detail of the schema. Then we could justify a better ROI, otherwise we need to use other services. I'd also like to see a direct integration with data analytics platforms like Metabase and Graphana to analyse the warehoused data. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Getting our data out of vendors via their APIs so we can run our own reports and generate accurate business stats without rebuilding the infrastructure in house. ### 2. Fivetran definitely helps with hiding the complexities of connectors, retries, mapping of fields, etc. It makes it painless to add new connectors, too. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** For a product aimed at reducing complexity, we still experience regular problems (once or twice a month) with connectors requiring manual intervention. Also, observability is not straightforward: there used to be a log which could be accessed from the UI, which was then moved to a destination that can be queried with SQL; while the latter is more flexible, for quick checking of problems the UI-accessible log was better. I heavily rely on Fivertran to collect data from offline spreadsheets scattered across the business into one place by using the out of the box Sharepoint connector. Once set up, there is zero effort from the user to automate the entire data pipeline and easily channel the data into one place for analysis, saving me hours of VB coding! Also love the fact that Fivetran guys are constantly adding newer connectors that I keep an eye on to try these out (business case depending) . Overall, an extremely no-code solution for anyone who wants to automate their data pipeline with minimum effort. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** Nothing to dislike apart from the wait to have newer connectors added to their existing collection. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Fivetran is saving me hours of VB coding when extracting data from excel and google spreadsheets from SharePoint sites across the business. The SharePoint connector is allowing me to spend more time analyzing the data and delivering the insights to the end users rather than to wrestle with the spreadsheets and get that data into one place. More so I have started using a few other out of the box connectors recently such as Google Ads, Reddit and Wrike, which is amazing as its giving me data that otherwise would be very difficult to API into. ### 24. We have been working with them for months trying to get it fixed or even get a timeline and we continue to be flying blind. While not all Fivetran users will have a similar setup, this creates numerous problems. 1. Schema standardization. If we connect the same source for different customers, often different table schemas will be delivered to our destination. Columns will appear in one instance but not another. Column datatypes will be different between instances. Tables may be missing entirely. This problem required us to write a series of very complicated custom scripts to standardize the data delivery. 2. Pricing transparency. Fivetran is very opaque about pricing. Daily summaries of row usage by table are provided, but we often incur large charges where Fivetran is unable to explain why those charges were incurred. The lack of pricing auditability is a big issue. 3. Standard tables. This is a new feature that Fivetran began rolling out mid-2024 which will drastically run up our Fivetran costs if we aren't watching carefully. They are turning on dozens of "standard reports" for common connectors that may increase our usage (and costs) by 5-10x. Currently these cannot be programitcally disabled with the Fivetran REST API. 4. Data delivery control. While we can control database and schema names from Fivetran, we cannot change the behavior of 1 Destination to 1 Database and 1 connector to 1 schema. This has shoehorned us into an unsustainable architecture as we grow. 5. Customer support is below average.
