E2 MFG System’s feature set includes whiteboard visual scheduling, job Gantt charts, work queue dispatching, quoting and estimating, customer relationship management (CRM), product configurator, EDI, quality control management, MRP and material forecasting, inventory control, warehouse management, customizable key performance indicator (KPI) dashboards, business intelligence and cost reporting, complete financials and shop floor data entry. Shoptech Software sells and supports the E2 Manufacturing System directly via a national network of regional offices and training centers. We had minimal experience cost estimators, and they were able to set us up with job costing and preliminary routing for the MFG team to take over. **What do you dislike about E2 MFG System?** E2 didn't get into the nitty gritty of each step of the router. Perhaps it's changed over the years, but when we stopped using the software back in 2019, the best you could do was enter a target cycle time, and a description of the operation. You couldn't upload pictures, or enter tooling details, or inspection data. **What problems is E2 MFG System solving and how is that benefiting you?** We no longer use E2, but I can share what it did for us at the time we used it. There are help sections and our company also pays for phone support so I can always call them to get an answer and they also email information about our call to support the information they gave you . **What do you dislike about E2 MFG System?** need to be able to add certain fields and our company is not willing to adjust the software **What problems is E2 MFG System solving and how is that benefiting you?** we have made great strides with the inventory system available. we should have used it a long time ago ### 4. As a job-shop environment, it does a good job, although the "documents" section could be put together better for a "read-only" standpoint. **What do you dislike about E2 MFG System?** There is no real way for Non-conformances and CAPA's to tie together. **What problems is E2 MFG System solving and how is that benefiting you?** Benefits are having most of our business needs in one system. ### 5. With its touchscreen interface and lack of moving part, it can't get full of dirt from the shop floor. It's just a simple thing to login on a project and then log back out when your finished. Very user friendly. **What do you dislike about E2 MFG System?** Dirty employee hands. There is no way to get debris into the interface but dirty hands can cause a lack of contact issue. **Recommendations to others considering E2 MFG System:** My company is still in the "consideration" phase. I used the software for a few days in training and it seems to be what we need but Mgmt has to make the decision to go with it. I hope they do because it would make my job so much easier. **What problems is E2 MFG System solving and how is that benefiting you?** After all of that’s taken into account, then you know what your profit is. Everything is accounted for and your know what your profit margin is. Ex: Rent on your property, heating, cooling insurance ect; ### 6. I also like how customizable the different records can be, i.e., individual orders can be customized easily. **What do you dislike about E2 MFG System?** I am not pleased with the smoothness of the interface. Often, while using this on our server, the screen will flash back and forth a couple times before I can actually begin to access the screen. Also, it appears that the basic layout of the screen, which I am sure the software designers thought a lot about, requires extra clicks to get from the bottom portion of the screen, to the top portion in which the different ribbons respond separately. I wish the interface was more advanced, especially in the engineering capabilities department - there is no current way to interface with engineering software to reference BOM's or other data. We often have to run a utility that updates our BOM's when we make changes every month. **Recommendations to others considering E2 MFG System:** This software is good but you need to buy some additional support to help improve the product or customization to get what you need from it. **What problems is E2 MFG System solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are now able to get data for reports much easier than before. We have not yet even begun to fully exhaust the reporting that E2 offers, because it runs Crystal Reports and no one here is a real guru in that software. Has made evaluations of our companies performance much easier. ### 7. For our specific shop uses, there are some things we have to fudge, but overall the program is quite useful. I appreciate the long kept records and being able to recall jobs by partial part numbers or order numbers **What do you dislike about E2 MFG System?** Like I said, I can't compare to any other job shop programs, but it would be helpful if there were a few more customisable options. There are a few times when E2 will have a weird glitch and double a quantity with no way to override it without wiping the memory. But overall it's a good product and gets the job done, so not many complaints from me! **What problems is E2 MFG System solving and how is that benefiting you?** E2 MFG System helps keep order in our shop with its numbering assignment systems, We are able to keep track of parts and material in our inventory areas and charge them to jobs as applicable and we are able to recall old parts we've done in the past off of different categories like part numbers, descriptions, etc. ### 8. We use it for everything, including accounting, except the scheduling module. We have used it for more than 12 years and know it very thoroughly. Recently "upgraded" to on-premise browser-based as their interface was in dire need of an update, which they did. Also, the app for collecting production data for the iPads is great, an another reason for our decision to upgrade. **What do you dislike about E2 MFG System?** The system is slow. They verified that our system more than met the requirements, and even took a copy of our database and ran on their servers and verified similar performance. An order with 30 or so lines (items in the order) can take more than 3 MINUTES to close after a change. The system will occasionally log a user off without warning, and all work that was in process is gone. Changing dates in the orders can only be done line-by-line and is an exercise in agony. Additionally, their reports are incredibly hard to read. We have learned programming so we can modify them to suit our needs, and have modified dozens of reports. **What problems is E2 MFG System solving and how is that benefiting you?** We run our entire operation (70+ employees) with the system. The data is there, but the responsiveness is simply unacceptable. We are wasting money every day with agonizing data entry, and my staff is frustrated. ### 9. Everything is integrated from beginning to end of the project cycle - from quoting & customer purchase request to shipping & invoicing. Can have multiple umbrella companies on the same software. For example, fabrication company and powder-coating company **What do you dislike about E2 MFG System?** Takes a while to fully learn all the functionalities. I would recommend having a CSR come in and train. Also if a customer modifies an existing order after an order has already been entered and processed the software doesn't allow the original order to be reprocessed without causing all the existing job numbers to be changed which causes a nightmare if some of the line items on the order are already in production. **Recommendations to others considering E2 MFG System:** Do your research. Being able to set up more than one vendor. A min / max on the items. **What do you dislike about E2 MFG System?** THat you cannot attach PO confirmations run Reports on late ETA's to vendors with PO wish you can attach prints/ drawings... **Recommendations to others considering E2 MFG System:** It's a good system. we seldom get kicked out because only have 13 user and need larger volume . please pick a license for more users - **What problems is E2 MFG System solving and how is that benefiting you?** we are having several glitches within the system . things changing when we have revised . not pulling items from orders and old Sales orders being stuck in the system .. ### 11. This will track an order history and allow to search for individual items instead of just entire purchase orders ### 12. Good product for simple products such as machine shop fabrications. The modules are similar and allow for quick learning using similar methods to navigate and edit content. **What do you dislike about E2 MFG System?** Not for complex multilevel assemblies. Not plug and play. Metrics are simple and not necessarily helpful. Too many entry options for the quality module making it cumbersome for users. **Recommendations to others considering E2 MFG System:** No recommended unless initiated fully with consultant and ongoing support. Not recommended for a high mix, low volume environment. **What problems is E2 MFG System solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our use for materials management is limited due to ordering parts through another program. This greatly limits what we can do in E2. Beneficial facets include part identification, router generation and order entry. ### 13.
