"Direct3D is primary 3D graphics API on Windows"
What do you like best about Direct3D?

Technology is in good shape in general, with documentation, support, performance. Despite complexity of certain concepts, it comes with decent tooling and development environment. Overall, the technology is proper answer to respective challenges. The vendor overall keep the technology up to date. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct3D?

High complexity and despite available documentation, the API is structured perhaps not the best way and has steep learning curve; some non-baseline parts of the API could be better. In particular, I think it could be better for entry level engineers trying to get familiar with basics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Direct3D is a free 3D software that contains great tools for developing graphics."
What do you like best about Direct3D?

Direct3D is a part of DirectX. Direct3D has the biggest advantage over its competitors that its totally free for windows. It offers countless functions despite being totally free. It renders graphics in video games and software. A user can experience great level of 3D graphics whenever it is required. It is light weight and not bulky at all, so it does not put load on the computer. It fully enhances 3D graphics. With each update bugs are fixed, and system progresses so the best way to use it to keep it updated all the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct3D?

Direct3D is overall a great software which does not have much to dislike. It lacks some characteristics and cannot grasp some minor details. Learning curve is steep and low-level security should be improved. Sometimes it gets stuck at one screen. There needs to be a graphical interface. There are bugs present here and there and system sometimes gets lagged, but they go away once the system is updated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Enhance 3D graphics performance"
What do you like best about Direct3D?

First of all Direct3D is absolutely free. There is no such software in the market which enhance the three dimensional graphic performance of PCs at a zero cost. Direct3D comes as a component of DirectX. It is a matter of updating the DirectX of my PC and enable the Direct3D acceleration from the menu of it. It was that simple. When using graphic intensive applications such as 3D max, MAYA, this is really useful. It seamlessly runs in the background with no effect on the PC memory capacity. It is such a sophisticated piece of software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct3D?

There is absolutely nothing to dislike. It does what it was programmed to do at a zero cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Direct 3D review"
What do you like best about Direct3D?

The proprietary Direct3D is officially implemented only on Microsoft's Windows family of operating systems, including embedded versions used in the Xbox family of video game consoles and Sega's Dreamcast. Several mostly functional reimplementations of the Direct3D API have been made by third parties such as Wine, a project to port common Windows APIs to Unix-like operating systems, and Cedega, a proprietary fork of Wine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct3D?

The first version of Direct3D in 1996 elicited broad criticism because even simple operations, such as state changes, required creating and submitting objects called execute buffers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Better than OpenGL"
What do you like best about Direct3D?

Good tools for developing and big innovations are fast implemented in Direct3d before OpenGL usually. Also, Windows has majority of the market so good amount of market is targeted using Direct3D, while OpenGL is catered for Android and similar systems.

OpenGL is majorly for graphics, where as Direct3D has control over sound, networking and multimedia. Graphics performance of Direct3D wins the race over OpenGL. Direct3D is tried and tested on Microsoft with their platforms on few vendors unlike OpenGL which has to be tested on basis on underlying platform. In terms of developement I find D3 to be much cleaner and simpler. D3D is more efficient than GL and has less performance throttles.

Also, Microsoft gives quite good official documentation and official SDK is also smooth. So if you want a more stable development environment I suggest to go for Direct3D Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct3D?

DirectX/3D lags few features like:

Accumulation buffers

Immediate mode

Display lists.

Also, it is not OS independant like OpenGL Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A great free 3D graphics renderer"
What do you like best about Direct3D?

Direct3D is a great free 3D graphics renderer with comes totally free for Windows. Usually most of the similar applications in the market comes at a cost and it consumes considerable amount of PC memory. But Direct3D do enhance the 3D graphics performance without putting a major load on the PC memory. It is that light and powerful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct3D?

There is absolutely nothing to dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best 3D Graphics Renderer In Applications"
What do you like best about Direct3D?

Right off the bat, Direct3D is completely free. It comes as part of the well known DirectX in the windows operating system. Its used for rendering 3D graphics in applications like video games and 3D building software. Keeping your DirectX updated is the best way to ensure that your Direct3D delivers the best performance and bug fixes if you ever experience any that is. The Direct3D usually activates when you launch a heavy 3D graphical application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct3D?

I personally have not come across any problems or issues with Direct3D as the updates seems to fix any and all bugs that rarely appear. It is free and that is a great price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
