"Solid platform and service"

What do you like best about Fortra VM?

We have been using Fortra VM for almost 9 years now and am very pleased with the platform and service. We have compared the results of the security vulnerability scans to other product scans and confirmed Fortra VM is a great value for us. Our teams use the security vulnerability scans to assess our endpoint posture and the reports help our teams narrow down on where we need to perform remediations and address critical and high risk findings. What do you dislike about Fortra VM?

"Easy to use vulnerability scanning tool with a great dashboard and tracking tool."

What do you like best about Fortra VM?

I like how the dashboard and active view consolidates and prioritizes the findings. This and the notes features keep our team on the same page while remediating vulnerabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fortra VM?

Currently, my biggest concern is that there is no way to get debugging or command-line access to the scanners. The best would be a remote console into the scanners from the dashboard that would allow us to do things like connectivity tests in a customer's environment without having access to their network itself. A debugging view of what a scanner is doing during a scan would also be beneficial, possibly access to a log file from a scan's run to better help us troubleshoot failed scans or failures to discover anything.

Finally, I continue to find broken links and references to documentation that's moved throughout places like frontline's site, AWS marketplace, and the dashboard itself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Fortra VM?

The UI is good overall. There are suggestions on how to fix each detected issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fortra VM?

The active view page does not seem accurate. I correct issues on scans, then re-scan, and it goes away on the new scan, but it does not ever leave the active view for some reason.

The UI is good overall, but if you're looking at a vulnerability its tough to jump to systems affected.

I suspect there were one or two false positives on missing patches. The systems scanned had all of their patches. It eventually went away, and I dont seem to recall a patch job occuring between then and when it went away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Hello and thank you for your valuable feedback. A few notes that might be helpful:

Frontline’s Active View data management view consolidates disparate scan data into one searchable, filterable data set that can be used to more easily manage your vulnerability scan results and generate high-level as well as granular reports. Scan results are reconciled into Active View on scan completion. There may be times when reconciliation is queued due to data volume. If the remediated vulnerability is included in scan scope and no longer appears in a re-scan, please be assured when the reconciliation process completes, the Active View will reflect the new fixed state. You can always view and access the Asset history on the right-side information panel when viewing an asset to identify the most recently reconciled data to see most recently reconciled data.

Frontline strives to provide targeted actionable results to minimize the effort needed to secure your environment, with a minimum of false positives. Please report any false positives you encounter to your Client Advocate so they can be investigated and remedied in the scanner.

What do you like best about Fortra VM?

What do you like best about Fortra VM?

When issues are identified Frontline directs you to knowledgebase articles that outline the vulnerability and the fix allowing for less research and more patching/configuration of the core issue. I spend less time looking for answers so I can get back to my primary roles Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fortra VM?

Setting up scanning can be a bit convoluted on your own but your account manager can assist with this. Tagging assets as an accepted risk won't asjust the scan score and rescans for fixed assets seems slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
