## Canto Reviews
  ### 1. Good platform for photo storage

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mia V. | Operations Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is a decent photo storage library for my organization. It's been helpful to have the option to create portals for specific users/teams to upload their own files and then give admins the ability to review and approve those files before they become available in the main library.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Canto's user interface is not the most user-friendly or intuitive. It feels a bit outdated and there are a lot of buttons and menu items to sort through to find what you need.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to adopting Canto we were using Google Drive for all photo and video storage. This resulted in files being scattered throughout various folders, duplicate files, and no ability to tag and easily search/retrieve the photo users were looking for.

  ### 2. Smooth Sailing Using Canto So Far

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I love how the integration with InDesign seems to work so smoothly. I travel a lot and can access Canto easily on a plane through the InDesign plug in. I also like how easy it is to get a response back from Canto service managers.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The backend custom fields. It's really hard to make edits in the tiny squares and should be able to have a window box open to edit, instead scrolling through is frustrating. Also don't like that things don't automatically alphabetize in every custom field on the back end and front end.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's created a cloud based site for us to store our favorite marketing images to easily use in proposals and marketing materials.

  ### 3. Good DAM Solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cindy F P. | Director of Administrative Operations for Communications, Marketing, and Brand Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Ease of use both for administrators and users. We've struggled with digital image indexing and sharing. Canto has served as a good solution/

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It would be helpful to have more levels of selective sharing of images, embargoing images, and those types of controls.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had a lot of difficulty identifying and sharing images within our institution. Canto has made that very easy. The ability to make collections and easily share them via email has been a huge help to our operation.

  ### 4. Canto Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The ease of finding images that we have uploaded.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

When opening another person's files, you have to click on every bubble to relink.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto solves our problem of managing all our images.

  ### 5. Wonderful Migration over to Canto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly S. | Digital Asset Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Very happy with the switch to Canto! I'm endlessly impressed by all of the tools and functionality. I love how easily I can customize and change settings and the online help center. Jonathon's tutorials were very straightforward and easy to navigate. He did a great job explaining and showing examples.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Nothing so far! Everything has been clear and there are so many features.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto is helping organize our internal archive files as well as creative mood board assets.

  ### 6. Great tool for Graphic Design

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Basilio G. | Manager Creative Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The Canto Connector for Adobe Plugin, along with the customer support. The plugin has allowed for quick updating of images across multiple users on all of our marketing material. Along with helping channel the right assets to certain teams. The customer support has been great, and helped us integrate the digital asset management system into our current workflow. While also willing to help continue that support a year out.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It would be great if there was an easier way to filter downloads on the reporting end by the metadata of images. Or to pull reports only on certain images, albums, or folders.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing photos and assets for use in marketing and communications throughout our organization.

  ### 7. Adequate DAM Solution

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2025

Easy to configure custom fields, Easy to configure asset structure

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Lack of search capabilities, Lacking permissions customization

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easier asset storage and organization, leading to more efficient asset retreival.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Hi there — thanks for your feedback! We’re glad you find Canto’s custom fields and asset structure easy to configure. I agree with you that robust search capabilities and customized permissions are definitely important! Luckily we offer many ways to enhance both, and we’d love to connect you with your account manager to explore your options. Reach out to customerfeedback@canto.com and we'd be happy to help.

  ### 8. Love it- easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** DANIELLE O. | Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I love the ability to consolidate all my assets in one place and tag for easy searchability

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

There have been some issues with certain types of files and file sizes not loading

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto is helping us store tons of different brand assets across 5 universities in one place. It's making it easier for vendors to send us things and for PMs to store them. Designers now can access everything in one place.

  ### 9. Easy to use, great AI search features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** BRIAN M. | Educational Technologist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The company wide access makes organization and collaboration a breeze. The AI assisted search, such as facial recognition makes finding people easy all while maintaining privacy within the platform.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Not sure yet. So far, so good. The way we are currently set up in folders seems a little archaic, but maybe that's on our end.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a way to standardize our branding and building a stock of quality media to be used across our organization. As a school district of 20+ schools, we don't have a lot of creative specialists, so for the few we do have now can manage our content appropriately. The level of quality options has risen for all our users and schools.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Hi Brian, thank you for sharing your positive experience with Canto. It's great to hear that our platform is helping you standardize your branding and improve the quality of media across your organization. Facial recognition can sure be a game-changer! If you'd like to learn about folder structure best practices, please don't hesitate to reach out to your account manager. We're here to help! -Julie

  ### 10. Great platform with amazing UI

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

You can tag images - multiple images at the same time.
Multiple downloading options.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Allow user to copy images instead of downloading all the time.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Single repository of our digital assets.

  ### 11. Mostly positive experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Coming from Brandfolder, Canto has it beat in terms of customization control and the ability to preview assets visually in a unique way. The bulk metadata feature works great for what we do. We enjoy the slider tools for filtering media by length. We haven't used the Visual AI feature but it looks promising and would be ideal as a default option in the plan, making this platform more enticing for new teams and migrating users from other DAMs.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Search UI needs real improvement. The tools to narrow down your global searches are hidden in a small menu in the corner *after* the search bar and are not obvious to our users how they work. Adoption is everything in this game when building a DAM for a company, so making it very clear how to search (and clear searches in a way that just works) is essential, and lacking in this case.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We appreciate the instant visual information Canto provides. Files that were stuck on hard drives or cloud drives suddenly have new life. As a marketing team, being able to see the assets in multiple ways creates opportunities to find things quickly, rather than hunting through folders.

  ### 12. Manager, Rights & Permissions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Publishing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The software is user-friendly and customizable. We have used Canto for several years in my department, and I have seen other teams within my company use it with great success.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

We wish the Workspace feature was more customizable than it currently is and that we could host our photo research there. In addition, we would like to see color coding become available in some areas of Canto.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a place to house all of PDFs and our extensive image and video asset collection. We also use Canto as a temporary space for delivering hi-res files and use the collection links in our customer service and marketing teams.

  ### 13. Canto DAM - the heart of all Digital assets

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank N. | Deltager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The Canto DAM system serves as our central repository for a diverse range of assets. Initially, it was utilized primarily as a media library for managing images, videos, and technical literature. Now, Canto DAM is evolving into the central hub for all assets, integrating seamlessly with other systems such as PIM (Product Information Management), CMS (Content Management System), and Commerce platforms.

Canto DAM supports our composable strategy, allowing for centralized asset management. All assets are maintained within Canto and updates are automatically reflected across all connected systems.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The contributor limit is sometimes a pain. Adding more contributors is expensive and requires a renew of the contract.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One place to maintain all assets.

  ### 14. Easy to use, great place to store media

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I really like Canto's facial recognition feature. It's very accurate and can pick a small face out of the background of a photograph and still identify them. They also have great customer support.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Some of the admin navigation is a little clunky (or I just don't know the best way to use it yet).

For example, when I create a link to share a selection of photos it seems like the only way to find that link again is by creating another link and choosing "existing links". There should just be a list of links somewhere.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto is a centralized place for team members to upload their photos. Links can be accessed by anyone, in or outside of our company, so it's preferable to any built-in Microsoft solutions.

If we didn't have Canto, we'd probably use a folder on SharePoint which would cause a lot of permissions issues and storage capacity issues. Canto also has any easy search feature.

  ### 15. User-friendly, affordable, simple DAM platform for internal and external needs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is a user-friendly and flexible platform that made organizing our digital assets quick and easy, resulting in one of the smoothest integrations into our team processes. The support staff is always ready to assist with any questions or issues. Canto has a well-designed and intuitive UX, easily integrates with our third-party platforms, and allows us to enrich our assets with metadata and attributes. Additionally, creating portals has proven beneficial for our partners and stakeholders, both internally and externally.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

While Canto offers many great features, I wish the customization of content and the ability to create templates were more robust. Additionally, the search feature is not always intuitive, which can make finding specific assets a bit challenging at times. Additionally, the WordPress plugin is not really functional for our needs.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto has significantly improved our ability to organize and manage our digital assets, including branded assets and product resources. It provides a centralized location where our staff and business partners can easily access and distribute these materials. The platform's efficient organization tools ensure that everyone has quick access to the resources they need, streamlining our workflows and enhancing collaboration.

  ### 16. Great solution for team asset organization!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carrie S. | Tradeshow & Event Specialist, Building Materials, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is a very user-friendly platform. Our team grew quickly and we needed a place for everyone to be able to access our digital assets. We were able to implement this fast and get our files organized. Now we have a central place to go when we are looking for items for projects. It was probably the easiest integration we had in our team processes.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Sometimes the search and share function is confusing. Some of the search depends on how we have it set up. Also setting the nomenclature of the different file capabilities (portals, folders, etc.) is a little cumbersome.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Canto, we would have folders upon folders of assets in places on our drive. Some of those would be outdated, and unless you had been with the company for some time, you wouldn't know that. Canto has been a great place to make sure we have the useable files at our fingertips. It also makes it easy to share those files with users outside of our team.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Hi Carrie – thanks for the nice review. I’m happy to read that you’ve been enjoying Canto and the integration process was quick. As for your feedback around nomenclature of the different file capabilities, I thought you might like to read Logitrans’ success story which shows how they set up their folder structure and how they use Portals. Thanks for being a Canto customer! -Julie

  ### 17. Canto makes our digital assets much more useful

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto makes the assets we work so hard to get much more useful to our entire organization. Everything is organized and tagged and all in one place. We can easily find photos and videos that we need or that are requested.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Canto is more expensive than some other solutions, but it's worth every penny to our team. Saves time and resources.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto creates a central repository that makes our thousands of photo and video assets searchable and available to all the team that need them. It keeps assets from being stuck on people's computers or in their personal drives where they can never be found and used.

  ### 18. Lots of features to love

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madison B. | Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The search functionality when sifting through assets (particularly photograhy) has made the marketing departments lives exponentially easier. The face recognition feature is also amazing.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It took us a very long time to transition all of our assets into Canto. It was a lot of legwork and reorganization but it was worth it in the end to have a better structure to store our photography.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves us time with the easy search functionality through the tag feature where we can manually enter personalized info and utilize the AI generated ones as well. We no longer have to go through folder after folder to find everything burried within other things.

  ### 19. Great asset management system.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

My team uses Canto for our digital asset managmenet needs. It truly has improved our workflows, making it simple and easy to locate our assets quickly. I like the search functionality. The tagging features are useful to search and find something quickly.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I think that canto could improve upon their integrations with other plafforms. we utilize the canva integration, but more could be helpful.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a 7 person marketing team, sharing assets by emailing back and forth is not feasable. It is helpful that canto provides a platform for us to have everything in once place. The search function is helpful, and allows us to quickly locate content.

  ### 20. Great service and a product that saves me time and makes my job easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Graeme N. | Photographer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto saves me and my team time by letting us easily sort and find photos to integrate into our projects. The ability to search for photos directly from Microsoft and Adobe software makes it really easy to pull together new marketing material quickly, without having multiple copies of the same images saved in folders everywhere. I love that Canto helps identify photos by adding tags, and the facial recognition means I don't have to manually tag all my staff in every photo.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I forget sometimes that Canto is downloading a local copy of photos, which can take up a lot of HD space if I'm not paying attention and clearing frequently. But it's still far better than our old way of doing things. Also, it seems like if I don't force a high-resolution image to be downloaded, then when I export a PDF, it's still a low-res image. It would be nice if I could design my artwork with the low-res preview, and then when generating a PDF, it pulled the high-res version from the Main Library.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to have all our photos and videos saved in network folders. This made the process of finding the right image very slow. Now, we can search for images from anywhere, no need to connect to the corporate network. And I can integrate Canto directly with Adobe software so adding an image to my project is just a few clicks away. It's an absolute time-saver!

  ### 21. Powerful platform with a learning curve

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason W. | Web Design & Digital Media Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The myriad of options to add metadata to images and videos, allowing for comprehensive and easy search. Organization is easily accomplished with folders and albums. Customized portals are great to share certain assets with other groups. Sharing is easy, and I like that fact that I can share outside my organization with just a link (no password or login required). The new AI feature promises to help me find images even quicker and easier. I also LOVE the ability to request images from other people, who do not have to be a user on our account. We use a QR code printed on a business card, then attendees at an event can simply scan the QR code on their phone and upload pics right into our album.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The user interface requires some learning, as the functionality is not exactly intuitive. User permissions are somewhat limited. To assign certain permissions, it requires another special user seat (as contributor or admin). Using up one of these user seats is not ideal. The cropping, resizing, and compressing functionality could use some polishing; it's more confusing than it needs to be.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously, we stored images on a networked drive, which required us to name each file a certain way. Searching was very slow and tedious. With Canto, I can find images much faster, and everything is organized better. Also, Canto provided a way for us to share assets with individuals outside of our organization. As a result, we have saved a lot of time.

  ### 22. DAM Satisfaction

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Monique B. | Content Strategist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Being an admin of my employer's Canto account, I'd like to think I'm conscience of the tool as I'm always engaging and involved with the platform. Recently, I logged in and discovered several features were no longer listed in their previous locations. I realized there was a call out box detailing the availability of App Switcher. With a simple click in a new location, I was able to continue my task. I appreciate Canto's ability to keep users informed while upgrading and enhancing the tool. In my opinion, staying informed amidst a consistent enhancement makes for a definite return-user and an improved user engagement.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I have not ever experienced a disconnect or disliking for Canto. Canto offers its users news article providing platform updates, ongoing enhancements, remarkable online tutorials and a proficient Customer Support team. In addition, users are able to find, organize and share their assets all seamlessly within and outside of the platform. It's all simple and fast. What is there to dislike?

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto provides a one-stop location for maintaining proper digital asset management. Providing a secure and safe digital space is key to the trust of the institution's staff, faculty and students as well as the ongoing and increasing population that relies on us. Having a DAM that operates efficiently offers an improved, reliable and seamless workflow for my team of digital strategists.

**Official Response from Maeghan Durbin:**

> Hi Monique- First of all we want to say thank you for being part of the Canto family for 4 years. Your loyalty means so much to us as our customers are truly the backbone of our company. We’re so happy to hear that our platform has allowed your team to take control of its digital content and has improved your workflows. Thanks so much again!
-Maeghan

  ### 23. A More Collaborative Space

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Callan M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Canto?**

My company recently migrated from Extensis Portfolio to Canto. Canto has offered a better collaborative space for users and clients. We have both local and remote employees, so sharing assets between team members comes easy with Canto. Sharing assets for clients to review has been simplified as well - no more hard drives or long upload and download times to file sharing platforms. As we continue to use it, I see daily users becoming more comfortable using the tool as a single source of truth and navigating the DAM platform as a self-service. As someone who is on the Administrative side of Canto, I love the reporting feature and download feature to show what assets are acually being used and engaged with.

It can be a bit daunting migrating to a new platform, but Canto's implementation team made it easy. With weekly dedicated check-ins and responsiveness to questions outside of those meetings, as well as user on-boarding, Canto's implementation team set up our DAM so we can confidently use it. Their customer support is also just as responsive and great to work with if and when needed.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I would like to see assets assigned to portals by asset rather than by folder. Also, the boolean search aspect doesn't work for something like project/job numbers, so I can't search two jobs at the same time and populate assets from those projects. Maybe a manual boolean search aspect would be nice in order to generate assets from two different jobs.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's solving asset-sharing with third parties and clients, and internal collaboration since we have both local and remote employees.

  ### 24. Can Do with Canto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph R. | Communications and Graphic Design Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The Canto application is flexible and easy to use. In addition to ease of use and flexibility, maintaining and modifying permissions, users, and other areas are extremely easy.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I found very little Canto I didn't particularly like; the only changes I would probably make would be a more simplistic interface for some of our basic users. But having worked with Canto for 5+ years, I've seen them make some pretty significant changes, so honestly, it's probably only a matter of time before they make modifications to simplify the interface.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest issue is sharing videos and high-quality images with my team members. Canto allows us to do this dynamically as a data asset management system. It also allows us to tag the contents with clean metadata. It's very searchable. These factors have increased our ability to deploy web and social media content, share files with many programs, and work with local and national media organizations.

**Official Response from Kelli Miller:**

> Thanks for this review, Joe! So happy to hear that Canto is helping your team work even faster than before.

  ### 25. Image Relay makes our life a lot easier.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I've used a few different DAM systems, and Image Relay seems to have combined the best aspects of them into one package - it's easy to bulk upload photos, keyword them on the way in or once they're in the system, quickly search for assets, and deal with various user permissions (loading getting users up to speed). We haven't used it yet, but the AI tagging is intriguing. Overall, it's been an adaptable system that has removed many of the frustrations we've previously encountered dealing with a large number of digital assets.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

No real downsides. Perhaps AI will eventually flag photos that are "aesthetically challenged" or out of style.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a large collection of digital assets that used to be almost impossible to manage. Image relay has allowed us to turn that complex task into something that's enjoyable to use.

**Official Response from Phoebe Sweet:**

> Hey Brian!

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! It means a lot to hear about our customer's experience with the platform. AI capabilities in that respect is a very cool idea too.

As far as implementing AI tagging please let us know if any questions arise. Personally, I really appreciate the benefits that AI tagging offers in terms of maximizing searchability with the minimum amount of manual work.

Cheers!
Phoebe

  ### 26. Love Image Relay!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sherie K. | D, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I love how organized Image Relay allows you to be! It's a great solution for companies to get on the same page and have endless amounts of storage! Image Relay allows you to easily upload items and send them out in a very organized way. I like that you get emailed and alerted when someone uses an upload link that you have created. It's a great way to store working photoshop files so anyone can go in and change something that needs to be changed.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I haven't really run into anything I dislike with Image Relay, it's a part of my daily routine to use. I have yet to run into any problems with Image Relay and the support staff is readily available to troubleshoot if you do need assistance.

**Recommendations to others considering Canto:**

Fully embrace this website and learn all the different functions that will make your life easier!

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had storage issues before using Image Relay and the upload link function is AMAZING. It's so helpful for outside photographers to use and when sharing images with others you can offer a simple link to direct them to an entire collection.

  ### 27. Great photo organization experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I like how easy it is to sort my photos and be able to search by various tags. It's amazing how smart its features are. For example, if I wanted to find a photo of a dog, I can search "dog," and it will show me every photo in my library of dogs.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Sometimes it glitches a little when opening albums. It will take me back to the main folder or load photos from a different folder, then quickly reload.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto allows me to keep all of our photos in one place and have the whole team access them with ease.

  ### 28. Canto experience

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juana G. | Social Media Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I love all the automations they have it is very user friendly and easy and accessible to use.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

That when you send a upload link to people they cannot download the pictures only view/upload.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a drive where everything is saved and formatted into its files and albums. Easy to find assests.a

  ### 29. Image Relay's DAM and PIM have completely streamlined our workflow.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrienne J. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

It is so easy to use! You can figure out the system without long tutorials. It's very intuitive, utilizes meta, easy to send assets to people outside your company. I love that our agency partners have access as well and can easily search for images using key words.

The implementation process was great. We had our own Librarian, James, and he was there for us every step of the way. His customer support is awesome. He helped set everything up, answer questions, organize and streamline.

I use Image Relay every day. I couldn't image not having it and trying to organize everything in google drive.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The only thing I dislike is we can't syndicate using Image Relay and need to utilize other tools. I'd love an all in one option.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organzining of assets, sharing with partners, sales support2, cataloges for customers

**Official Response from Phoebe Sweet:**

> Hey Adrienne,

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, it means a lot to hear about our customers experience with our platform. I'm also happy to hear that your implementation process went smoothly, we think James is pretty awesome too! As always, please reach out with any questions that might arise.

Cheers!

  ### 30. Exactly what we need for asset management!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lacey L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I love the support staff — they're always ready to assist when I have a question. The platform is easy to use, once you learn it. There is a lengthy onboarding process that helps you get acclimated. It's long but worth it! I really love the facial recognition feature and the smart tags. It was simple to move our assets from our previous system to Canto, I think we'll be there for a long time.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It is not the most intuitive platform. It takes some learning to use it, like which buttons mean what and which settings are where. But it's worth it to learn!

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto creates a secure platform for our staff to access our photo library. The search tool helps them find what they're looking for and limits the time they're asking the marketing department for help.

  ### 31. Best multimedia archival system we've found for a global organization with room for improvement.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The level of metadata we can document and access we can provide for our users. General depth of organization.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

We share access to our archives to our organization for self-servicing multimedia needs. The power-users can adjust to the Canto's complex functionality but it can be challenging for intuitive user-experience. We hope this will improve with time.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A way to organize a complex library of multimedia assets with deep metadata and provide access to our global users to be able to use for marketing and communication materials in an ethical way.

  ### 32. Generally pretty darn good

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Glenn H. | Marketing Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Easy-to-use folder and album structure. Creating a share link and adding images to it is very convenient for sharer and user. Metadata tags are customizable to a high degree. Uploads and file transfers are simple, and downloads are too. Facial recognition is incredible!!! Nearly impossible to stump.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Lots of little UI glitches which create irritation and slows down usage. Transferring uploaded files to an album seems to be really slow.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Much easier to catalog, keyword and find images than with our previous DAM. Far more efficient with our large volume of assets.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Hi Glenn - thanks for leaving us a review. We're happy to hear that you find Canto much easier and efficient to use than your previous DAM. We think our facial recognition is pretty awesome, and are glad you do too! We understand your frustration with UI glitches and slow file transfers and are committed to addressing these issues. If you haven't already, please report them to our support team so we can investigate and improve your experience. Thank you for choosing Canto!

  ### 33. Great Product.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The AI search and facial rec. Along with ease of use and implementation.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Not being able to have a database upload of users so we can have multiple B2B customers log-in to just dowload images.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a DAM system with search. Also having the ability to crop before dowload helps!

  ### 34. Organized, Efficent, and User-Friendly -Canto Delivers!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** shaun w. | Digital Marketing Manager & Sales Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Our team has been using Canto, and it has completely transformed the way we manage our digital assets. The platform is incredibly intutive and easy to navigate, allowing us to quickly find and share files across the marketing department.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Canto has limited customization, while if offers customizable metadata options, some users may derire more flexibility in customizing the user interface or other features to suit their specific needs.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving for centralized storage of all digital assests, images, videos, documents etc. in on single secure location making them easy accesible to authorized users.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Hi Shaun, thanks for leaving us a review! We are thrilled to hear that Canto has transformed the way you manage your digital assets. We strive to provide an intuitive, efficient platform and appreciate your feedback on customization. If you have any specific customization requests or further feedback, please feel free to reach out to your account manager. We're here to help enhance your Canto experience. Thank you for choosing Canto! -Julie

  ### 35. Great product, and great service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Witt H. | Senior Motion Designer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto does a great job of helping us manage files. Photos, videos, and documents are shared easily and affectively. As a content creator, it's a useful tool to help me work with customers and business partners.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The admin side can be a bit cumbersome. My company creates a large amount on content and sometimes it is difficult to access exactly what people are looking for in Canto.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto helps us stay organized. Content management is key for us. We have a large amount of content to manage and Canto keeps us on track.

  ### 36. Exactly What We Need for Photo Management!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tessa R. | Marketing Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I love the facial recognition and tagging features. It is so helpful to be able to quickly identify, and then later, track down, photos of teammates and clients.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The search feature can be confusing and difficult to navigate, and the AI features aren't as thorough as I would hope.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto is solving the challenges we have previously had quickly tracking down photos of teammmates and clients. We are able to utilize the facial recognition feature to find photos faster than ever! Also, the ability to tag photos with categories allows us to filter for use cases with a breeze.

**Official Response from Maeghan Durbin:**

> Hi Tessa! Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Canto's facial recognition and tagging features! We're thrilled to hear that they have been so helpful for quickly identifying and organizing photos of teammates and clients. Regarding your feedback on our search feature, our new AI-powered search feature "AI Visual Search" could be especially helpful for your team. Your account manager is an excellent resource for learning more! I've linked more information about AI Visual Search for you here: https://www.canto.com/product/ai-visual-search/

Thanks for being part of the Canto family!

  ### 37. Awesome Solution!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mack C. | Digital Marketing Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I think the thing I like best about Image Relay is the ease with which I can send product data or assets to whoever needs them. Implementation was also easier than I thought. I know it will take quite a while but they really walk you through making it work.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I have no dislikes yet! I'm excited to dive in more and learn how I can use it to it's fullest advantage. I know it's a bit of a buzzword, but I could see AI being implemented into Image Relay and that has opportunity in my eyes.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Image Relay is helping us make sure all our assets are up to date and in one place that I can easily share. It is also the central hub of product data instead of many separate spreadsheets across departments.

**Official Response from Phoebe Sweet:**

> Hey Mack! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review-- hearing from customer's means a lot to us. I'm also glad to hear that implementation has gone smoothly. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions that may arise.

Cheers!

  ### 38. Canto - USA Pulses replaces current DAM with a more powerful CANTO system

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff R. | Director of Research, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

We had an exsisting system - we loved it, but the system was blocked by US government office. In searching for a replacement, CANTO passed that test. We now realize the facial recognition is going to be super helpful for us.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The interface is not as well designed. And our past system created a system alert for recently pending status assets. That is missing in Canto.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Govenerment user access
Facial recognition - is not allowed with EU based system I was using before
Portals

  ### 39. My experience with Canto over the last three years has generally been a good one.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Canto?**

It keeps our company files organized neatly and easily searchable for our franchisees. It was an easy rollout and our franchisees who utilize Canto generally seem to enjoy it. If we ever have issues, we tend to get a quick response from the support team.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It's not always the most intuitive when it comes to making changes to our portals. Also, it would be nice if there were dynamic text fields that allowed users to make their own changes.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We previously housed all of our marketing assets on our franchise management software, which was not user friendly. Our FMS was difficult to search, and assets could only be viewed after download. These problems don't exist within Canto which is easy to organize, search, and view.

  ### 40. Great all Purpose DAMs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Fine Art | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is extremely feature rich and customizable.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I haven't run into anything that isn't better than previous DAMs that I've used.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cataloging, storing, and sharing images and video.

  ### 41. Instant Gratification

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott G. | Sr. Marketing Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

All assets in one place. This is a must once you grow above a 1 or 2 person department.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Nothing so far has been a dislike once you understand how things work.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto is solving assets being created and never seen again. With a Portal my sales team can see everything Marketing has created is a game changer. The other game changer is we as a company has always struggled with finding older artfiles. Canto's use of tags should make for a quicker search and storage.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Hi Scott, thank you for sharing your positive experience with Canto. We’re delighted to hear that our product is helping your company solve the challenge of finding and accessing older art files - single source of truth for the win! If you have any further feedback or suggestions, we’re always here to listen and help. Thank you for choosing Canto!

  ### 42. CANTO is a step above the rest

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Terry B. | Production Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The product itself is user friendly and fast. We use CANTO daily. What makes CANTO so much better than the competition? Communication. Their team of professionals will help guide you through the implementation and onboarding process and they stay open to your ideas and issues. Simply put... they listen and follow through.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

As an administrator of the product for my organization, I would like to see another level of users, where I can set privileges.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A trustworthy solution for all of our digital asset management needs.

  ### 43. Image Relay User

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul H. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

We've used the Library portion of Image Relay for many years and have recently added the Digital Proofing Tool. The two integrate very well together and are easy to use. The few times we've needed support the response has been quick and very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I would like a licensing option where multiple users who need very occasional access can share a seat.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Digital Proofing for clients to quickly review and comment on proofs. The Libary allows clients to reach in and grab images they need for their use - usually for presentations.

**Official Response from Phoebe Sweet:**

> Hey Paul,

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! It means a lot to hear from customers about their experience with our platform. Between your use of the Digital Proofing solution and long time use of Image Relay it seems like you've got a great handle on things! Of course, if any questions arise please feel free to reach out with questions.

Cheers!

  ### 44. Excellent onboarding, responsive staff, effective product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Not only is ImageRelay helping us organize thousands of photos and video, it has a great interface and provides a nice user experience for our clients. The DAM itself is excellent, it is thoughtfully designed and the capabilities are exactly what we needed to host so many assets in one place. But the onboarding is the most important piece here. It was the best I've ever experienced. James, our librarian, was thorough, kept us accountable with "homework" and migration road maps, and always had an answer or solution for our road blocks.

I appreciated his support throughout the process because moving data and organizing it is overwhelming and exhausting, and found him to be incredibly valuable. He was patient, persistent (in a good way to keep the project moving amidst other projects and roadblocks), and very knowledgeable on best practices and working through use cases. This makes SUCH A DIFFERENCE in experience.

I've used other companies where they reel you in, then literally throw you in, and forget about you. Not the case with IR and James Fox. 5 stars, 10/10 would recommend for onboarding through the data migration phase alone.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The price is significant, but hoping the DAM organization creates consistency across the brand/globe.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have so many product images and assets, and were using Dropbox to share with clients and distributors, which was overwhelming. Folders were getting deleted and moved, images were disappearing, and we had little knowledge who was accessing our information. Now we have eyes on who is utilizing resources, which are most used, and more insight/oversight into how we share.

  ### 45. Jury is still out, like some things and don't like others

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Good customization and search capabilities

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

No way to watch video at higher speeds, annoying to have to download to watch
On mac, the side folder structure truncates on left and can't drag panel to be wider like on PC (bug?)
Share - new vs existing link - you end up with a bunch of links that can get confusing

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

robust search and customization options, but it's a lot of work to get all the assets tagged and cataloged as needed.

  ### 46. Excellent product!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto has been a great way for us to catalog our photos, current and older. We find the facial recognition aspect of the software to be a game changer - especially with our older photos, it's been excellent to have this feature automatically identify who is in photos and to then be able to easily search for them

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The cost is very high for this product, and once you start using it you are kind of at the mercy of the company to pay whatever they charge you.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Photo cataloguing - it saves us time by helping us to keep track of our very large catalogue of photos

  ### 47. Great Solution for an image Library

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryce B. | Digital Marketing Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

- Metadata stays attached to photos and videos
- Tagging ability and albums make sorting and finding assets easy
- Upload information ( I can see who added assets)
- Ease of use

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Canto is powerful if you have the time and foresight to set up your workspace properly. I inherited my workspace, and it was a mess. It has different generations of users and different methodologies on how to do things. Cleaning this up is a BIG task and not the easiest unless you delete and start new.

The mobile app needs work too.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have thousands of products in an infinite number of sizes. Canto let my team, and I quickly find what we are looking for, saving us possible hours of sourcing imagery.

  ### 48. Excellent features with competitive price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan D. | Director of IT, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Setup is quick and straightforward. We were able to get basic functionality setup with no issues. Implementation team was quick to respond and assist with the more advanced setup features.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Waiting for them to rebuild the Adobe plugin

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a single source for all of our digital assets. Image Relay's tagging allows us to bring in loads of assets and still be able to browse them easily.

**Official Response from Phoebe Sweet:**

> Hey Ryan, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. It means a lot to hear what it's like using our platform directly from customers. I'm glad to hear that things have been moving along smoothly and that our Librarians have been helpful with introducing features! Please feel reach out with any questions that may arise.

Cheers!

  ### 49. Still digging Canto after 6+ years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew W. | Brand Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The platform's continual development and improvement are why we are still customers. The new AI feature is an incredible time saver that I can't recommend enough.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The cost is a bit rough, and the interface can be a little glitchy on occasion. The UI could use a refresh.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was the media gatekeeper prior to Canto, so the time-saving aspect of others being able to do self discovery for the media they are looking for is invaluable.

  ### 50. Content is easy to manage with Canto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie S. | Web Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

What stands out most to you about Canto is its user-friendly interface. The ease of navigation makes it effortless to find and manage digital assets, saving you time and streamlining your workflow. With Canto's intuitive design, you can focus on creating and collaborating without the hassle of complex systems

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I wish there was a way to integrate with my website so wwhen images expire they would be updated automatically.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us keep all our assets organized
