"2D technical drawing in digital format and basic 3d modeling."

What do you like best?

Specifically, it has great qualities for drawing work, an interface based on assisted drawing that greatly facilitates professional work in the area of generic design and the dwg format allows linking the work done in AutoCAD with other software with complementary features to advance in the management of the graphic project.

What do you dislike?

Its usefulness and functionality are indisputable but I have always been dissatisfied with the appearance of the interface since it offers a very rigid and technical organization structure, the intuitive use is very limited for users without experience, the 3d modeling work is unlinked from the drawing 2d what generates a disconnection from the creative visual process where the workspace does not allow the tools to be deployed in an integral way to take advantage of the 2d functions and the 3d options in the workspace in a more dynamic way and with an organization designed for the user.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The cost could be an inconvenience for small businesses, it is convenient an introductory course to implement the software in an organized and correct way in the work teams for the design area, I recommend exploring other options in the market although from my experience AutoCAD complies with the technical expectations necessary in professional development.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

For my professional design activities it is very useful in the stage of plans 2d where the project must be digitally drawn, I complement it with other modeling tools and design work to have a more dynamic task, its printing format offers a great advantage that I take to print directly or take the work in PDF format to share it with my colleagues quickly.

"AutoCAD the architect's tool "

What do you like best?

I like the AutoCAD program mainly because it saves time when drawing the desired pieces and structures that if it has to be handy, it also allows us to exchange information not only by paper, but by means of files this facilitates the work and speed to the Time to interpret the designs. You can also export the designs to different work platforms which is excellent when projecting the project. The amount of commands to draw and express the design sought is quite broad, in the same way the tool bar is very simple to understand, it is possible to draw in 3D from the 2D drawing on the floor generating an excellent perspective.

What do you dislike?

The first thing that displeases me is the cost of the license of the program because it is high, also if you want to fully understand the software it will require a lot of time because there are a lot of mergers which many of them are of little application, a powerful computer is also required so that the program works quickly, and a high space on the hard disk because otherwise the program slows down and sometimes even gives fatal error if the work becomes very extensive.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

My recommendation when using AutoCAD with a heavy file is that they keep everything done to give you confidence not to lose your job.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The AutoCAD in our company ALFIERRO is a completely necessary tool since the company produces metallic structures besides being a cutter and assembler, so this program is needed to design and assemble any structure that the client wishes, after making or obtaining these designs. the engineers went to deliver the plans to the workshop and the workers commissioned to cut and assemble based on what the drawing expresses.

What Building Design and Building Information Modeling (BIM) solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"It is the software standard for drafting, although missing the functionality of other CAD programs"

What do you like best?

I like the interface with the color scheme, which is helpful in facilitating the drafting process. Compared to other drafting softwares, AutoCAD is faster in start-up and prolonged use for producing relatively less complex 2D drawings. Also the software allows you to produce very precise and large scale drawings with ease. Applying hatches is a strong feature that often causes crashes in other CAD software.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that the functionality to organize large drawing sets or to organize repetitive elements is very limited. 3D modeling is cumbersome in AutoCAD, and I would never use AutoCAD to model 3D elements. The block appears to be the only "smart" or programming element that helps individuals to manage repeatable elements in their drawings, and these are for the most part limited to 2D elements. Coordination of drawings is very time consuming, and is a largely manual task.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is necessary to have an operating knowledge of AutoCAD, although as you progress throughout a career involve CAD design, it would be more prudent to learn other software to help supplement the limitations of AutoCAD.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use AutoCAD to produce architectural drawing sets. The office utilizes AutoCAD, because the software is relatively easy to operate and less software training is required using Revit, although the office loses productivity gains in the long run by not using other software.

"Great Program for Basic Architecture Use, Not as high powered as Revit"

What do you like best?

This program is fairly easy to use once you have a few beginner lesson. Great for basic floor plans, elevations, landscape studies, etc. Easy to turn off multiple layers to only show what you need or able to turn them all on at once. I like to use this as a my schematic starting point and is easily uploaded into other programs such as Photoshop, Revit, etc.

What do you dislike?

There are so many ways to do the same thing plus there are a lot of keyboard commands to learn. It is very easy to get confused especially if you are share the desktop/program with some one who has a different layout preference than yourself. Another thing I dislike, is the 3D software. You are able to design with 3D but VERY complicated vs its counterpart; Revit. No rendering is available.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Take a class for beginners before using the program so you are not overwhelmed. Good program for beginners and students. A lot of firms use it so it is a must to know. If you are going to learn this, you should add learning Revit as well since these programs go hand in hand with each other.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

This program allows us to show the client their project with ease. We are able to show them the schematic phase all the way through to the very end of the project. You are able to add as much detail as needed, especially for Construction documents when detail is most crucial. Highly recommend learning this software for any job position you may be obtaining in the architecture field.

"AutoCad"

What do you like best?

It is Amazing how the detailed helps us read the drawings in a much clear way. It has amazing tools with all the new ones coming with latest versions. Also it has a 3d element with it which is not connected that much with the 2d but still is worth taking a look at . It is really easy to export drawings and convert them into pdf or use them with other softwares.

What do you dislike?

The 2d and the 3d part of the drawing could be more connected. The Background could offer more options in the colors. Also the hatch option needs to improve a little more. The software almost hangs when we hatch a larger part of the drawing ans also the lines if double should be indicated in some manner. The properties bar could be a little more clear.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Since it keeps updating try using the latest versions with all the new tools.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is easier to read drawings. It only focuses on the 2d drawings.

"Architectural design program that allows to draw technically plans easily and comfortably."

What do you like best?

Personally I like it because it is very complete, I can make planes in 2 dimensions and in 3 dimensions, you can draw from an animal to the whole structure of a house, everything that I can draw by hand, I can do it in autocad, as well as work designs in a matter of short time. The biggest advantage I see is that I can print them as many times as I want and at the scale I want, and still modify it if necessary. Its countless variety of tools gives me the possibility to give color and detail to my designs, creating very complete things in a professional and unique way.

What do you dislike?

This software seems to me to be very complete and practical but it seems that it could improve its 3D modeling tools, which is a little faster when installing the program, because if you do not have a good computer with a good processor, it gets slow .

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Ideal tool for designers and future architects, at present the technology goes at the speed of light, leaves behind the squares and the pencil and start designing from the comfort of a computer and tablet.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In my career and in my work, it is a fundamental tool. In today's architecture there are already many software that offer advantages, but autoCAD is an indispensable tool. It gives me the possibility of showing and designing the plans of the houses to the clients in their presence, since it is a tool that I can have from the comfort of my computer.

"When it comes to precision in 2D drawing, AutoCAD is perfect."

What do you like best?

is a program with ample capacity of tools and precision for 2d drawing, projecting in 2 dimensions is essential for the development of designs of objects, furniture, mechanical parts and larger projects, has the possibility of working with different layers and a very well developed workspace, its commands are very efficient which allows the drawing of the different views of the project can be carried out in the same workspace without problems, the layout presentations are very professional to expose the results

What do you dislike?

in some aspects, their tools lack dynamism and flexibility, which sometimes results in the use of several commands to perform a task that could be much simpler, the 3d modeling version is not the most efficient on the market and is not the strongest this software.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is important to know the tool well to get professional results, in addition it requires knowledge on advanced technical drawing if what you want is to develop projects with precision to be brought to reality, know the concepts of scale, thickness of lines, layers, plants, Elevations, cuts is important to use the software with ease.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In the stage of production and development of furniture design, drawing 2d is an important face both for us to develop the 3d models and for the area of production of prototypes, the use of the layout is essential for the presentations of each design model, its precision and measurement tools allow you to calculate the area and the amount of material that is required to produce the full-scale model

"Indispensable for the 2d drawing in architecture."

What do you like best?

is the ideal program to develop 2D architecture projects, from the elaboration of the first ideas of the project to its final conception, drawing plans, plants, cuts, facades, details, isometrics, it is very simple when you already know all the available tools in the AutoCAD 2D interfaces, in addition to allowing you to export the plans to other programs to generate the 3D models, it is a very professional and commercial program that allows you to show the projects in the most suitable way to the clients.

What do you dislike?

Its 3D version is really complex and inefficient, leaves much to be desired with respect to other programs that are much more complete in the 3D modeling area and in that sense its development is very deficient, being practically disjointed in the competition with other similar programs of 3d modeling.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

They should be very clear about the use of layers to work in an orderly manner, when they are very large projects they should turn off layers and link files to make them lighter, understand the layout very well so they can obtain professional pdf formats to develop projects in the work.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The work to develop the projects on site necessarily requires 2D drawing, with AutoCAD being the fundamental tool from the commercial point of view, allowing the drawings to be transferred to pdf format and using the layout as a professional tool when presenting the plans, besides being the fundamental basis for 2D and 3D printing for models, furniture and other architectural elements.

"The perfect tool for Architects"

What do you like best?

I really like that you can do basic things and how complex a project can be with all the great functions that you have internally within the same program, such as 3D and the organization of pages for presentations directly within the program without the need for a program as well as its organization and presentation to print achieving great results within it, complying with a professional and clean presentation that gives a broad fixation to types of designs that can be created in the same program.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the lack of rendering controllers in the program despite having a broad operation in everything that takes the management of an architectural project that would be a very important point and that would create software for the entire management of an architectural project.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This program is a very useful and interesting tool because not only with architectural projects but also the creation of several branches of the same career and related that can be very well used also forming an alliance with l apart from industrial design and together with the engineers which I would easily recommend to use this programs without problems.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With Autocad I basically solve all my life as an architect is the number one tool that we design 3d plans and we create great projects, it benefits me in an inexplicable way since creating from very simple lines you can create very nice and functional things within the race and out of it.

"AutoCad architecture is designed with sevrel features"

What do you like best?

It is a unique application with unique functionalities. It is a major breakthrough for getting impressive and exceptionally worthy architectural drawings. It's compatible with virtually all major modelling applications. Functions like Osnap, pan, etc will make drawing easier. These functions are really enormous that you can never exhaust it.

What do you dislike?

Price is always expensive with autoCad, but at least you get the worth of what you paid for. Also the kind of difficulties that can be encountered when using AutoCad tools, it can be challenging.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

AutoCad Achi will give you the very best as a drawing tool. Learn to use it and be a professional archir=tect

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Gives about the best precision in 2D design "

What do you like best?

AutoCAD is a very easy to use software. It gives the most accurate precision in terms of drawing line, shapes e.t.c The tools are also quite easy to use and quite straight forward which basically translates to it being use friendly

What do you dislike?

There's not pretty much to dislike about the software, it could just be a bit too slow sometimes when hatching. Also, it can't handle voluminous designs then it gets too be a bit slow when working on something voluminous

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am an architect and i use it to design. it has made my work a lot easier and faster compared to when designs used to be hand made. Now, designs can be produced faster and with more accuracy

"Very basic drawing tools"

What do you like best?

If you are familiar with drawing tools, it's a very easy to use software that consists of a command line where you type the command/tool that you want to use, that way you don't need to remember or memorize where the tool icons are in the interface.

What do you dislike?

3d Modeling is not as easy as it is with other softwares, and that makes AutoCAD Architecture less suitable/ideal as BIM skills requirements have increased over the past years.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

AutoCAD is great for importing and exporting file. I've realized that a lot of professionals in the construction field still use it as their main drawing software, and if you want to contribute with them you must be a skillful user.

"Great!"

What do you like best?

Easy to use and very compatible with other programs (like Sketchup and Revit). Great for quick analytical plans, and very intuitive to use.

What do you dislike?

I'm not a huge fan of using Autocad in 3d - I prefer to use it in 2d for planning. I do love that it has a 3d feature - it makes exporting and importing into various other programs very easy, but the 3d aspect itself is not something I utilize, just because I find it easier to use in other programs.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Use it for non-work projects, it will help you get a feel for it. I've used it to work on personal projects (creating plans and whatnot) and it's a fantastic way to get comfortable with it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving design problems. The benefits of cad is that its a universal language that all designers know, and it's a great base point to grow from.

"CAD for the BIM era"

What do you like best?

AutoCad is a great first step in learning how to digitally draft plans, elevations, etc. and whether on MAC or PC side, the interface and overall program layout is straight-forward and easy to maneuver. It is extremely fast at creating digital layouts especially if the designs are orthographic. The ability to load-in blocks and hatches that are pre-loaded make it even easier to do projects. Additionally, loading in other presets, templates, etc is very easy to do for more customization. I like the ability to import DXF files that can be updated throughout multiple drawings when changes are made.

What do you dislike?

Programs like Revit and other BIM programs are now able to live-edit and collaborate with others in an office without having to worry about updating other sets of drawings. I wish that CAD also had this ability to collaborate with others much easier.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Autocad should be one of the first digital drafting programs that new users should start out with. It is a great way to get a handle of using digital design programs in general. From there, graduating to other Autodesk programs becomes easy and efficient, and anything made in CAD can be easily imported and attached to BIM files.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

CAD is great in developing quick plans and layouts, and makes plotting quickly- very easy. It is a great first program for things like schematic design and/or space planning but will need to be imported into a BIM program for most contractors today.

"Students and Professional Friendly"

What do you like best?

The software always been easy to use, i usually use the comands shortcuts but if i dont remember one of them its easy to find the icon and if you are no sure if its the one you are looking for you jus hover the pointer over it and gives you a quick description of it.

What do you dislike?

sometimes when you are working on a big project and use to many layers or hatches it gets slow

Recommendations to others considering the product:

if you want to use the full capacity of this software buy it it woth it, it offers free trials and student trials but when the time is done you can not longer use it

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

normally when my boss ask me for a design he gives me no more than a week to do it so its very important to me that this sofware its easy to use and you just develope your ideas in a few hours

"Best Tools for Architects"

What do you like best?

I love the shortcuts that are available, makes it very easy to execute multiple actions in a row quickly. It is also free to students, so it's convenient to those of us that can't afford to pay for the program entirely from scratch. It provides a more technical aspect to designs rather than just having sketches or drawings by hand. This program makes it much more professional looking and neat. Also the shortcut of esc is great to use whenever you want to exit out of an existing command.

What do you dislike?

It is not easy to draw whole buildings compared to 3D programs. If you change one thing, you have to change it in everything you have drawn. Line weights don't work when you send it to someone with a different system.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

you should reduce the size of the application

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

AutoCAD was our firm's first computer drafting program. Before, everything was hand-drafted and took an immense amount of time and effort to produce drawings and make inevitable changes. AutoCAD helped drastically change that.

"Great environment for developers"

What do you like best?

The access to common commands because of ribbon controls and the possibility of use the keyboard to achieve drawings in a short amount of time; the floating properties deck allows a lot of space to work with, which are the thing i like from it.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes the software blocks itself, somehow the systems works against itself forcing to close the software and begin from the point behind. Other failures I found are the ortho mode configuration fails when its active, and the drawings made in that moment are wrong, it's a shame.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

the recommendations that I can give to third parties is that autocad is a program that can be intimidating at first, however it is a matter of constancy in the use of the program and of a continuous learning of the commands and ways of making the drawings and architectural requirements for our clients

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have solved problems of sizing spaces in the buildings that are going to be remodeled, additionally I have made additional facilities for services for apartment buildings, such as garbage room. on the other hand, it allows me to do the metric calculations of services such as sanitary installations and electrical installations. Finally, I have carried out surveys of rivers and coasts as well as the three-dimensional models and develop projects from there.

"Another 2D Drawing software."

What do you like best?

First this tool its kind of easy to use. The tool can do both 2D and 3D drawings. Very accurate in 2D drawings like lines, shape etc. The product has a command line to help the user access the features that may be needed. AutoCAD Architecture is a perfect tool especially when working on quick analyzing plans. Availability of shortcuts when using this tool. All its documentations are absolutely accurate.

What do you dislike?

This software AutoCAD Architecture needs a user to be trained enough to be able to produce a good services to the clients.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

My opinion is that this tool can be very useful especially if the user has all the required skills.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Production of accurate documents.

Business production improvement, among others.

"Slow and Steady Wins the Race"

What do you like best?

AutoCAD is unparalleled when it comes to drafting software. The control over lightweights is really great. Furthermore its vector graphics are so quick. This is mostly because the program doesn't allow for much else. So it can move quickly, with no lag.

What do you dislike?

Certain things are so counter intuitive. Selection of linework for example. If you zoom in after starting a selection, it removes parts out of the frame, from the selection. There are a lot of small frustrating things like this. Changing settings is a pain and they're not always "accessible" (in an intuitive way at least). AUtoCAD 3D is something I dislike, but it's mostly pointless to even talk about it. I assume very few people use it because it is INCREDIBLY limited - can't think of a single feature of its 3D that is advantageous over other software (other than its compatibility with other Autodesk software of course...)

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Learn quick tricks - like block etc. Things like this will save you a TON of time. I took a class before college to learn (as did many of my friends). This isn't necessary at all. Online tutorials today are great. What is great about AutoCAD is that it is a good starting software (before moving to Rhino or Revit or Maya etc.).

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

AutoCAD is still used extensively by people in the Architecture and Construction sectors. So it is mainly useful for coordination with other professions (before they fully transition to BIM/Revit). It is also good for other simple programs like Laser cutting software (although other software definitely can be used for this)

"Reliable Drafting Software!"

What do you like best?

I really enjoy the fast response time the program offers when doing commands to draft items compared to other drawing programs and building information modeling programs. I like that I can create details and drawings efficiently and export to other team members for collaboration. In addition, quick keyboard shortcuts save time when working and therefore money for the project.

What do you dislike?

I have had problems with the software crashing when I have multiple programs open from Autodesk. Also, hatching areas seams to take longer than expected.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I am not aware of what my company pays for each license of this product but the price listed on the website for 1 year of use seams high to me compared to other products Autodesk offers that have greater benefits.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

AutoCAD Architecture allows my team to quickly develop details that can be used in building construction documents and referenced in other software by Autodesk. It has also proven to be very reliable with creating diagrams for space programs.

"Good one from AutoCAD "

What do you like best?

What I like best is the actually it's competency to handle architectural drawings and design. A nice CAD and BIM tool that has a great level of competency and functioning capabilities. Various design and renovation works can be achieved properly with the proper use of AutoCAD Architecture.

What do you dislike?

The basic thing that may be disliked is the complexities associated with using it. It, not an easy to use tool for the layman.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I want to assure them that they'll get the good part of AutoCAD Architecture.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The major gain is that I produce designs faster than I could have if using other tools. Helped so well as students to do our assignments then. Wonderful features, it has.

"Excellent design software for all designers!"

What do you like best?

The best part of this form of CAD is the ability to draw things quickly to get an idea of what your idea/building might be. From a space planning scenario, this program is excellent. Also the ability of it to draw in 3D is a great feature, especially is you want to convert to a BIM software later.

What do you dislike?

What I dont like about this that most design disciplines are moving to more of a BIM coordination and if you have to coordinate with those disciplines the compatibility is doable, but the layering of CAD drawings into their models seems to be an issue.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

My recommendations to other users would be to use the program for schematic and preliminary design options. The clients like to see 2D drawings on paper and this is a great step toward moving into BIM software or other 3D modeling programs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are currently using this problem to solve our space planning and diagramming issues for new buildings and also existing building. We also use this program to coordinate with other disciplines as some are still using this type of design software.

"AutoCAD is convenient and easy to use"

What do you like best?

I love the shortcuts that are available, makes it very easy to execute multiple actions in a row quickly. It is also free to students, so it's convenient to those of us that can't afford to pay for the program entirely from scratch. It provides a more technical aspect to designs rather than just having sketches or drawings by hand. This program makes it much more professional looking and neat. Also the shortcut of esc is great to use whenever you want to exit out of an existing command.

What do you dislike?

It is difficult to connect lines at times, and the lagging that comes with hatching is sometimes a concern. It restarts and stops working after a larger area is being hatched.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I think it is a useful product and definitely low maintenance. It might take a few tutorials to get the hang of it, but otherwise easy to pick up and great for creating the pdf and rendering, 3-ding, etc. Great for base plans.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

To design or create a plan, AutoCAD is needed for the base plan and then rendering would require a different program. Otherwise, AutoCAD is a good start for designing. Helps create a unified foundation for designing for the team, can share the documents and export/import x-refs easily. Great for teaching to other people too because of easy controls and type in the command without moving mouse.

"AutoCAD in an Advancing Technological Society "

What do you like best?

The layering system in Revit is it's most beneficial attribute. Being able to turn on and off certain information in different files, sheets, views, etc. really helps to fully maximize overlaying and coordinating different trades.

What do you dislike?

Getting to and controlling the page layout can be a bit tricky if you don't know the correct commands to type in. The selections in the top ribbons aren't too clear for this category.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Utilize CAD with other Microdesk products to get the full potential of building design and documentation delivery.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Although we do not do most of our documentation in AutoCAD anymore, I still utilize it for its line work capabilities, such as space planning.

"Great Software"

What do you like best?

Being able to use hotkeys instead of looking for the icon to do a command. You are able to insert and edit blocks from other people and between drawings. AutoCAD is able to do many things, dimension with as much or as little precision as you would like, print to any scale you give it on any paper size, layers with different colors and attributes that you can lock or hide as needed. Overall I find AutoCAD user friendly and helpful in my work.

What do you dislike?

If you hot a hotkey on accident and something happens that you do not know what it is and do not know how to reverse it. Since getting a new laptop, AutoCAD will not save over another file when exporting a PDF. I used to be able to do this when I edited a drawing, but now no matter what it says that the PDF is open in another location (this only happens in AutoCAD, and I found forums online where this is happening to others)

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am drawing all plans for the remodeling company I work for, without AutoCAD I would have to learn a new project in order to get these drawings completed for engineers / permits / ect.

"Good for the details"

What do you like best?

The ability to draw details with ease and precision. You can change line weights easily for any appearance.

What do you dislike?

It is not easy to draw whole buildings compared to 3D programs. If you change one thing, you have to change it in everything you have drawn. Line weights don't work when you send it to someone with a different system.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would not use it to design a whole building because there are many opportunities for mistakes when changes are made. I use it primarily to draw details that are unlinked to anything else.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Drawing small precise details, not whole buildings.

"Easy to operate"

What do you like best?

I think the current version has very less fatal errors as compared to previous ones.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes, I would prefer to work with CAD classic version, which is not possible in the current version.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would recommend every Autodesk product. But I feel, it is more important to switch to Revit rather than investing in AutoCAD. Now is the BIM generation, and everyone should learn it, including me.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

AutoCAD is the only CAD software I have used so far and indeed, it is better than manual drafting. Isn't it !!?

"Suited for automated designs."

What do you like best?

It's amazing how it gives accurate drawings always to scale.

It's efficient since there are a variety of drawing tools to work with.

It's definitely automatic I tend to spend less time working on something.

What do you dislike?

It's expensive no matter how well it works the price is high though worth it.

Everytime it's updated everything changes you need new skills on using it .

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Best for accuracy and automatic design tool but expensive.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

First of all being automatic makes it easy to make designs, and with an advantage of accuracy ,for the past 2yrs i have experienced the best with it .

"The best program to design anything"

What do you like best?

What I like the most is to be able to work in real size, since it allows designing both large and small real objects, and through the presentations I can select what I want to print and at what scale.

What do you dislike?

I do not like that many times when you enter solids frames it is blocked or closed. Luckily, automatic saves allow you to recover files.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I solve practically everything with Autocad, for me as an Architect it is a fundamental tool of work. I solve practically everything with Autocad, for me as an Architect it is a fundamental tool of work. The benefits of using Autocad versus other computer-aided design programs are many, such as accuracy.

"A necessary software for architects"

What do you like best?

It is very easy to use. It has built in objects for walls, doors, windows and all the necessary tools to build plans, sections and elevations.

What do you dislike?

This software cannot automatically change your elevations and sections once the changes have been made to the plans. It is difficult to organize layers and to delete the layers which are unused.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you want to create plans and want to start it with AutoCAD, AutoCAD architecture is the best tool to get started with as it has in built walls, doors and windows.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Autocad is an excellent software to design plans accurately to correct dimensions. I am able to create multiple sheets which are helpful to obtain permits from the city.

"Best software out there"

What do you like best?

I love the ease of adding walls and windows, the ceiling grid feature, and the fact that everything is drawn to 3D. It cuts so much time off our production and we all love using it. This product has made our time in the office much more productive and has even helped to speed up our surveys outside of the office as well.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes the updates wipe things out and I have to reset everyone's settings etc, but other than that we love it!

Recommendations to others considering the product:

BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The time it takes to input things from surveys etc and the accuracy of things. It pretty much makes everything foolproof and has sped up our drawing time immensely.

"A Good Software"

What do you like best?

Once you learn how to use its tools, AutoCad is a great software to architectural design.

What do you dislike?

In my opinion, AutoCAD should be more intuitive. In architectural design, when you change a little detail, the whole design changes, so AutoCad should be able to incorporate this smart behavior of when a detail or a big thing is changing, the whole rest adapts to it.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The future is BIM. Autocad should definitely invest on it in order to compete with Revit Software.

I know a lot of offices that no longer use autocad, but Revit.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

AutoCad is very accurate. When I use it, I can fasten my measurement notion.

"AutoCAD Architecture R&D falling behind..."

What do you like best?

File format exports to better CAD programs.

What do you dislike?

Lack of worth software development, so many bugs, software doesn't on-demand load. It loads everything in it's arsenal even if it's not needed during that session, which leeches systems resources since those tools are loaded and on in the background even though they are not needed.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Buy your workstation with 3x the minimum requirements if you want to actually work on the drawing, anything less you will always be crashing or receiving fetal errors! Buy many, many support books, since Autodesks support costs money and the support hardly ever fixes the problems that the software has. Tkae alot of classes on coding, lisp routine and script writing for software work arounds since AutoCAD isn't built for average workstations. Learn ALOT of patients, since you will most likely not receive the proper help to resolve your software issues and be prepared to completely reinstall the software, over and over again because this is the only way Autodesk support knows how to resolve their software bugs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Ability to submit drawings to the building department, no benefit to my company, it's actually costing me money every month, even if I don't use the software. They should have NEVER dropped proprietary licenses and REALLY SHOULD HAVE NEVER GONE TO SUBSCRIPTION!! They are forcing me to use other CAD software programs, because I don't always need to use their software but I need to maintain a subscription every month just in case, where in the past I buy it once and it's good forever! I am phasing out of AutoDesk software for their move away from perpetual licenses to subscription. What am I to do if they go out of business, redraw everything? Ignorant on Autodesk's long-term client retention attempts!

"Good for practice. Not final piece"

What do you like best?

Auto cad architecture made it easier to understand how sections and elevation were going to look. Which gives you a great advantage when it comes to changing things before they become permanent. All in all a good starter program for new drafters.

What do you dislike?

Auto cad architecture is not built for the final project. It doesn’t not understand how drawings are supposed to fit together. For example, if you draw a building and use the roof tool and then create a section of that the roof is not attach to your building at all.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Just use regular AutoCAD

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am not solving any business problem with this program, I am creating them. Would not ever use this, over all it takes more time to fix its mistakes then it would be if I did it myself.

"Better than nothing but Revit & BIM is the future"

What do you like best?

DWG files have been around for over 30 years and are the de facto format for drawing in the AEC industry. Almost anyone can get started drafting with an LT version (or free student version) and have everything they need to produce professional drawings.

What do you dislike?

There is a HUGE learning curve associated with AutoCAD. This is not a good choice for a casual drafter or DIYer. Sketchup would be a much better choice. Most professionals spend hours and days learning the ins & outs of the software to get their desired results. Many features are antiquated and require time-consuming workarounds.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you're using an earlier version (or year), it's worth the small updates, but otherwise you should really invest in BIM software such as Revit (another Autodesk product, usually bundled with AutoCAD these days). There are benefits to having a more or less WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) drawing experience, but not at the expense of information and editing capabilities, which are always important.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

AutoCAD was our firm's first computer drafting program. Before, everything was hand-drafted and took an immense amount of time and effort to produce drawings and make inevitable changes. AutoCAD helped drastically change that.

What do you like best?

you can select one element and you don't have to count all other similar , software will do that for you when deal with large plans , also Ex ref save a lot of time try to bring another file to use as reference w/o making file size huge

What do you dislike?

3D need a lot of training to start using it.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

this product strongly recommended for architecture industry in order to create accurate drawing and share all ideas with all trades to finish construction project in a timely fashion

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"An early attempt at Building Information Modeling that is now outdated"

What do you like best?

This application is a hold over from "Architectural Desktop". Before Revit, this was a quasi attempt to turn AutoCAD into a Building Information Modeling application (BIM). AutoCAD Architecture is what is left standing of that product.

When it first came out it was powerful. It was a 3D modeler made for architects. Standalone AutoCAD always felt like software meant more so for engineers. This made it more for architects. Which was great.

You could now created 3D Walls, and doors, and windows. Model your design in 3D with real architectural elements rather then just lines, circles and arcs.

But...

What do you dislike?

This is a very outdated application. Autodesk (the software manufarcturer) has put it's efforts into developing Revit, which is it's main BIM offering. AutoCAD Architecture has become obsolete.

We have it on the floor at the firm I work for, however we do not use it as a 3D modeler. We only use the 2D autocad workflows. If we are goign to model in 3D we will use other applications such as Revit, Rhino, Sketchup, etc.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I do not recommend. For architecture 3D Modeling, go with Revit.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use 2D AutoCAD on several projects for documentation. Howver, we do not have any projects using full AutoCAD Architecture.

"Easy to learn and use - consistent platform"

What do you like best?

I have been using AutoCad for over 15 years. The best thing about the program is that even though they have added icon ribbons, the old-style quick key codes are still working. For those of us that don't want to search for icons, it's a lifesaver.

What do you dislike?

I wish that it would consistently load. I have had issues on and off opening on my work computer and each time have had to call customer service and get new authorization codes sent. I have not had any of these issues on our school computers.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure all of your log in information is readily available; you'll need it for any support issues.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

A simple platform to design structures with, easy to interface with all consultants. I also love that my students learn it easily when I teach.

"Among the best architectural software."

What do you like best?

The intuitive design, especially how walls come together along with reference points. It’s easy to learn how to use because the commands just make sense.

What do you dislike?

The price! For an individual user that’s hoping to start a business soon, learning the software is almost impossible because of how expensive it is.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you need more BIM Revit May be the way to go.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I can overcome engineering issues due to the fact I can build something in AutoCAD before I physically build it. The benefits are low material waste, not near as many missed materials as well.

"Design in 2D and 3D"

What do you like best?

AutoCAD Architecture lets you construct buildings in 2D and 3D, visualize designs... Its functions are aimed at architects, designers and planners. If you're only interested in technical design, you rely on 2D CAD tools, which myriad of options and possibilities guarantees a precise and detailed finish. In the other spectrum side, you count with a 3D modeling interface to create buildings with various shapes and features.

What do you dislike?

Not universal, Not widely used in professional environments and Requires very powerful hardware

Very large download file.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Maybe you should reduce the size of the application

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I used it to design buildings, objects and anything that requires precision in 2D or 3D...

"Autocad is being overtaken by other programs"

What do you like best?

The ease of use and precision is unbeatable for Autocad. The toolbars and interface are really well set up. The idea of a command line is also ingenious, and should be implemented by more programs. The layer system is well implemented with the printer system, but it seems a little outdated.

What do you dislike?

The 3d mode of the program is very slow, it is unusable. Until that aspect is improved, autocad will have a difficult time beating other drawing softwares.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

There are other programs on the market that are more efficient. AutoCAD does not do a good job at combining 2D and 3D aspects.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

External references are very helpful in a work environment, the idea of being able to share a document and simultaneous work on it makes sense for big teams.

"Architecture... or Revit Light "

What do you like best?

I like that it has the word architecture in it, as an architect I can appreciate that :) All the things that i like about autoCAD vanilla i like about AA, as the features are all in there. the extra features that make autoCAD architecture a separate program are just OK.. i see them more as in there for legacy.

What do you dislike?

its Revit but not Revit.. why not just use revit?

Honestly the 3D modeling and representation tools were originally what made AA stand apart, but all those features are in another autodesk product (along with a lot more) - REVIT

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Evaluate why you want to use this product instead of general AutoCAD or Revit

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It will adequately serve as a construction document production software package, but the benefits otherwise aren't really apparent to me.

"It's an awesome architectural tool"

What do you like best?

It can produce numerous products starting from landscape designs among other things. It is also easy to scheme projects with it before exporting to other software.

What do you dislike?

It takes a lot of time to come up with the 3D models since it has a lot of technicalities which are not automated.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is good for scheming project designs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I used it to lay out designs of concepts of our commercial and residential designs.

"Easy to learn"

What do you like best?

This program has simple commands. Just type in what you want to do.

What do you dislike?

It’s not a good program for 3D. It’s also hard in an office when more than one person is working on a project and only one can edit a CAD drawing at a time. There also needs to be a way to edit multiple things once a drawing is updated. Something like Revit. Where you make a change on one drawing and it updates that change on another drawing.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is easy to learn and easy to get into the commands. You can do any big project with the same simple commands.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

This program is very useful to overlay different engineering plans to make sure everyone is coordinated.

"Great drafting program for the AEC industry"

What do you like best?

AutoCAD architecture has the same easy to use interface as vanilla AutoCAD, with architectural toolsets, blocks and materials to help with architectural design projects.

What do you dislike?

If I undock my laptop from the monitors, the hardware driver malfunctions and the application can freeze up and crash.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The subscription licensing model is expensive for small companies.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have several AutoCAD architecture licenses, and use it primarily for our mechanical and renewable design projects where we need to integrate with a pre-existing design.
