## Appian Reviews
  ### 1. Fast, Simple Workflow Building But Licensing Costs Is Expensive

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aayush Ansuman P. | Principle Product Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Appian?**

Appian makes building our business workflow fast and simple

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

It gets expensive as your team grows there is no define cost bracket. And integration of few application are complicated

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a Product Manager, I use Appian along with Zendesk and ChatGPT to better understand customer pain points and improve product decisions. Our support team regularly exports customer support tickets from Zendesk, and Appian automatically processes the uploaded data. Using ChatGPT integration, the platform analyzes customer comments, identifies recurring issues, groups similar complaints, and highlights the most frequently reported problems. Appian then creates a simple dashboard that helps product teams quickly review trends, customer sentiment, and priority issues. This saves significant manual effort, helps us respond to customer concerns faster, and allows us to prioritize the most impactful product improvements more effectively. This help our support team to reduce their daily task.

  ### 2. Implementation and Costs: Major Challenges for Appian

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manuel Yeison S. | Application Development Using .NET and C# in Enterprise Solutions: Professional Framework, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Appian?**

I support the management and automation of business processes using Appian. I find the initial setup extremely easy when used with their cloud service.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

The cost is prohibitive, the wallet hurts. Appian licenses are incredibly expensive and are designed for the budgets of multinationals or governments. If you try to set up something medium-sized, the return on investment takes ages to appear.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Appian as a platform for business process management and automation (BPM), designing, configuring, and implementing digital workflows that optimize organizational operations. Through Appian, I participate in process automation, system integration, document management, low-code enterprise application development, and monitoring of operational indicators, contributing to improved efficiency, reduced execution times, and strengthened control and traceability of activities within the organization.

  ### 3. Streamlined Our Operations with Low-Code Power

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alemu J. | accounting and finance, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Appian?**

I like Appian's ability to quickly turn business requirements into working applications through its low-code development approach. This approach significantly accelerates the application development life cycle, allowing developers to use Appian's visual design tools to build workflows, user interfaces, and business rules much more efficiently instead of spending months writing and testing large amounts of code.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

While Appian provides many benefits, there are a few areas where I believe it could be improved. One challenge is that some advanced customization is limited compared to traditional development platforms. For example, when we need highly dynamic UI behavior, such as complex conditional rendering, highly interactive components, or very tailored UX patterns, it can require workarounds or custom components.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Appian to simplify and automate our business processes, solving manual process and fragmented system issues. It reduces lengthy approval cycles, consolidates workflows, and boosts accountability. Its low-code approach accelerates development, turning requirements into applications swiftly.

  ### 4. Intuitive Low-Code Workflows with Solid Integrations and Promising AI

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mattia B. | Financial Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Appian?**

I like how intuitive the UI is, it’s easy to build and follow processes without too much hassle. Integrations are quite solid, which helps a lot when connecting different systems.
Performance is generally good, even on more complex workflows, and the low-code approach gives a decent ROI because you can deliver things quickly. Support and onboarding are helpful, especially to get started, and the AI features are promising, though there’s still room to grow for the future

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

What I dislike is that the UI can sometimes feel a bit rigid or not as modern as I expected, especially when building more complex interfaces.
Performance can also slow down with heavy or complex workflows.
Support is helpful, but onboarding is not very easy at the beginning.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me, the main benefit is efficiency, it reduces repetitive work, it frees up people to work on more added value tasks, and makes it easier to track and manage tasks.

  ### 5. Efficient Workflow Automation and Seamless Integration

**What do you like best about Appian?**

I like the combination of workflow automation, case management, and process visibility within a single platform with Appian. It allows business and IT teams to collaborate more effectively while maintaining governance and process consistency. We especially benefit from the process dashboards and data fabric capabilities because they help consolidate information from multiple systems without requiring extensive data migration efforts. The platform gives managers better visibility into process performance bottlenecks, pending approvals, and service level commitments.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

Yeah. While the low code capabilities are strong, some advanced UI customization requirements can be limiting compared to traditional development frameworks. Certain enterprise integrations are highly customized reporting scenarios also require additional technical effort and planning. We would like to see more flexibility around interface design and advanced analytics capabilities for large scale operational reporting.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Appian to automate workflows, manage approvals, and enhance visibility across departments. It reduces email reliance, provides real-time process visibility, improves accountability, ensures compliance, and standardizes workflows by automating approvals.

  ### 6. Streamlined Business Automation, Minor Customization Hurdles

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric P.

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Appian?**

I really like Appian's ability to automate complex business processes while still being relatively easy to build and maintain compared to traditional development approaches. The low-code environment allows my team to create workflows, approval processes, dashboards, and business applications much faster than conventional development methods. I particularly benefit from its workflow automation, process visibility, case management, and Appian's data fabric capabilities, which let us unify information from multiple systems without big migration efforts. The platform also integrates well with systems like Microsoft Outlook, Zendesk, databases, APIs, and reporting tools, helping to improve collaboration and operational visibility across departments.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

While Appian is powerful, some advanced customization and integration can become more complex than expected and may require additional technical expertise. We also found that highly customized user interface requirements can be more challenging to implement compared to modern front-end frameworks. In some situations, larger workflows and advanced reporting requirements require additional configuration effort. Pricing can also become a consideration as user counts and application complexity increase.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Appian to automate business workflows, manage approvals, and coordinate case management. It connects data from multiple systems, providing a centralized view and standardizing complex workflows previously managed through spreadsheets and email approvals. The low-code environment simplifies building and maintaining applications.

  ### 7. Low-Cost, Time-Efficient App Development with Great Fidelity and Connectivity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eduardo F. | Sales Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Appian?**

I believe it is the fact that with a small group of developers you can transform ideas and processes into running apps. The upsides, low cost, time efficiency, fidelity and connectivity.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

According to my development team. The app's interface is not that user friendly and flexible as other web developments can be. It also becomes quite the hassle once you've programmed processes using it, to migrate to another. Last but not least, it is expensive compared to other options.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped a company i worked with transform processes into automated workflows. We received I high number of information request about the products and services we offered. They all came from different countries, through different tools,we then had to send different documents and keep track of all that using different tools, and now, it is all concentrated in one app.

  ### 8. Empowers Workflow Efficiency, but Customization Could Improve

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anu B. | Technical Data Annotator – UI/UX Screenshots, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

I also appreciate its strong real-time process visibility and user-friendly interface, which streamline complex business operations. The workflow automation capabilities improve operational efficiency by streamlining approvals, case management, and repetitive tasks. Plus, the easy integration with multiple systems facilitates seamless data flow across departments, enhances collaboration, and provides better visibility into business processes. The initial setup was relatively smooth, with intuitive low-code tools and helpful onboarding resources that allowed our team to get started.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

Appian is powerful, but some advanced customizations can become complex and may require additional technical expertise. The platform can also feel expensive for smaller organizations, especially when scaling users and features. Advanced customizations in Appian sometimes require deeper technical knowledge and can become time-consuming for highly complex business requirements. Providing more flexibility, simplified customization options, and enhanced developer documentation would make implementation easier. Additionally, more cost-effective pricing options for smaller teams and growing organizations would help improve accessibility and scalability for a wider range of businesses.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Appian automates workflows, centralizes operations, reduces manual tasks and errors, and speeds up approvals, boosting efficiency.

  ### 17. Solid Data for Complex, Audited Workflows

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carine O. | Marketing Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Appian?**

This is not a toy for making easy-to-do lists. It manages heavy and complicated workflow logic in various regions and departments. It is the foundation of business processes that have strict audit tracks and complicated data paths. It should be reliable; it is not liable to fracture. In the architecture, the point of sale is the Data Fabric. It integrates information in our CRM, other databases, and external APIs into one without having to undertake a huge migration project.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

The interface design applications are stiff. Although you can create functional UIs in very little time, it is infuriatingly hard when compared to modern web frameworks to tailor the appearance and feel to stringent brand specifications.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We develop applications over virtualized data rather than copied data. This is where we made decisions on the campaign budget. It has three levels of management according to the number of regions. It abolished the lost email replacement defense altogether.

  ### 18. Transformative Automation with AI-Driven Insights

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2025

The AI-driven navigation through the process and bringing humans in the loop for unforeseen situations is also quite useful. I appreciate the availability of multiple AI models, which shortens the go-to-market time and makes the implementation easy to understand through visual design. Additionally, the initial setup was somewhat easy with the help of the Appian support team and a dedicated relationship manager.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

Some essential connections like GraphAPI, connecting to on-prem systems, and PrivateLink implementation should be part of the tool.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Appian for automating business processes with AI-driven workflows, which helps in adapting to various scenarios and embedding humans in unforeseen situations. The availability of multiple AI models and the visual design ease shorten the go-to-market time.

  ### 19. Appian Platform Review (Updated): What’s New and What Matters

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mayank V. | Senior Technical Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Appian?**

I have been using appian from past 5 years now and they have done a good job in improving their appian AI engines, their associated LLMs and Generative AI. They have also improved their platform capabilities like 50M record data sync, portals and Appian Document Center.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

The one thing to note is the Appian limitations of different data types specifically decimal rounding issues. The generative AI also used external LLMs which creates a more scrutinized environment for security. Their are some more wear and tears but appian has been performing quite well and improving everyday.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Appian helped my organization to help automate different excel based solutions to Appian coded solutions and integrate them to fully nullify the manual work did earlier.

  ### 20. Ruthlessly Effective Orchestration with Standout Data Fabric Virtualization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marian C. | Data Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Appian?**

Quick and ruthlessly effective in orchestrating the processes, it abstracts the boilerplate code and is more concerned with the business logic rather than syntax. Although the interface design is rather inflexible against the custom React, the internal tool speed is hard to refute. The outstanding capability is the Data Fabric. Its capacity to virtualize the data of numerous sources without necessarily transferring or copying them is better than the competition. It is, in fact, as the advertised advertisement says, getting SQL and API data together with no problem into one record type.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

Specific interface component version control is a tedious manual task, and a one-rule rollback is too manual to be a part of modern CI/CD, including lacking the fine control afforded by standard code repositories.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Yes, with workflows of a complex enterprise nature. Do not use it on pixel-perfect consumer applications; use it on internal applications where functionality holds more importance than aesthetics and speed.

  ### 21. Fast Low-Code Workflow Building with a Straightforward UI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrei C. | RPA Developer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Appian?**

I like how fast you can build workflows and apps. The low-code part makes development way quicker. The UI design is straightforward and easy to work with.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

Sometimes the platform feels a bit restrictive compared to full coding. Performance can slow down with very large applications. Some integrations can be harder to configure than expected.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The AI and automation features help simplify tasks and improve efficiency in workflows. It speeds up development, so projects can be delivered faster with fewer resources, giving good ROI.

  ### 22. Leading low code platform

Appian has introduced agentic ai, in low code platform it is leading in every aspect be it AI copilot, RPA, Dynamic on demand infra scaling and much more

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

Appian need to enable it's Agentic AI in every possible stream. There should not be any limitations.

**Recommendations to others considering Appian:**

If you are looking for low code platform then no one can beat Appian

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Low code platform. One thing you can say that using Appian you can truely give significance to Agile.

  ### 23. Building Apps with Low-Code

Appian is helping me to solve several key challenges in my workplace like it automates the repetitive tasks and organizes the complex workflows on its own. It also reducing the human manual errors and saving a lot of precious time for employees. For example, task assignments, approval processes, and management of documents that are used to take hours can be done in minutes now.

  ### 36. Better

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Appian?**

I appreciate the quarterly updates and improvements in general. It's much different than other IDEs but I'm getting used to it. I like the way they've toned down the "low code" blurbs sprinkled into their tutorials.

**What do you dislike about Appian?**

I haven't come across citizen development or a need to use "low code" or "drag and drop" strategies (as a developer) more than 3% of the time. As an ancient developer, I'm uncomfortable about how much db work (table creation, relationships) delegated to the app when we depend on database access and support from other teams for integrations. These are small things, and I get why Appian would include them for their core audience (or the audience they want). Some congratulatory tone still in some training.

**What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing tools for inputting, processing, and reporting on customer data. AI is helping streamline these

Appian helped in designing the reports efficiently in the required view with different filters and also have good feature in creating the information in pictorial charts
