Availability of pre-configured industry-standard apps for financial planning, supply chain and merchandising now enable faster value realization for customers and boost the product's go-to-market value proposition. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Auditability of line items can be further enhanced by adding extra features like saved views references and filter references. Detailed error logging and scheduler accuracy can be improved in Cloudworks. Native support for allowing input/breakback and calculation logic in the same line item can be added to further boost platform adoption in Retail Planning use cases. Anaplan models that allow for controlled access and user role-driven experiences, ensuring Apps can be built to expose the right data to the right users at the right time. The inbuilt Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) features allows for controlled release of model changes to end users and allows for segregation of development, testing and production usage. As a SaaS offering there are continually new features being developed which support both the end user and model builder experiences. Anaplan is continually refining based on customer feedback to address key features to advance modeling capabilities and improve ease of use. In recent years the App/UX layer has advanced greatly, allowing for dynamic formatting/visualizations, more curated user interactions and less reliance on model builders to make structural changes to the model. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Lack native multi-select functionality and conditional formatting in the App layer can be a bit clunky and require workarounds or supplemental model development. Errors associated with excel based planning can be eliminated and much more can be done with productivity improvements. The calculation engine Hyperblock is the foundation that powers this tool. The ability to customize for any type of planning be it sales, finance, supply chain, headcount etc helps in exploiting synergies of different orgs. In addition, the new features like combined grids, ADO etc will definitely make it a serious product in the market. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** More AI features are required for the increasingly competitive industry. The product roadmap is already filled with AI roadmap so it is just a matter of time. The tool is costly and the pricing definitely needs to be standardized and made transparent for all customers. Also, there should be focus to replace visualization tools like PowerBI by bringing in visual planning. This has been addressed with geo-mapping feature that is released recently but Anaplan should be bringing in and constantly improving the features like these. On the upsteam, the integration ability with other systems should be made easily. ADO is definitely a game-changer but it needs to be bi-directional. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** We plan our sales performance and territory management with Anaplan. It has been great and suits our use-case well. We dynamically manage territories and Anaplan has improved our productivity by mostly eliminating our manual workload. The sales cycle, which used to take months, has been reduced typically to days. The time to value is great, and they are making a lot of improvements to the product roadmap which we are looking forward to. Also, we identify the potential of a territory and it helps make decisions quickly and manage workloads of reps. We are also using it to segment and prioritize the accounts within different businesses. ### 4. The Connected Planning experience a good implementation can give to its customers is a high-end solution that works really well. The platform constantly expands and is market competitive, the multiple integration options allow the system to communicate and seamlessly fit in any existing environment. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Having worked with both the gritty back-end and not just the polished front-end, I see areas where improvements could be made, particularly in how the dimensions function and how the engine operates, as well as new features that can make the quality of work significantly better (e.g. view filters on import creation). It helps us consolidate inputs from different teams, regions and tools into a single platform, which makes the planning process more consistent and less reliant on spreadsheets. Before Anaplan, we used Excel, and it was hard to keep everything aligned—especially when we needed to update numbers or run different scenarios. Now we can do that much more easily and quickly. The main problems Anaplan helps us with are 1) Having multiple versions of the forecast/plan and not knowing which is the final one, 2) managing the read/write access to the forecast/plan, 3) when a new scenario modeling was needed, it would take us significant time, 4) loading data into our forecast tool (excel) was a manual and tedious process, 5) Updating presentation decks with the latest forecast/plan ### 10. I have seen it used it across different industries for a wide variety of purposes (sales performance management, FP&A, etc). It's easy for non-IT users to learn, and it can be used to make processes much more efficient. The connected planning features are great - for example, a university could have their budget, long range planning, grant planning, etc. all connected in Anaplan. Anaplan also is also continuing to update their platform and add new features, such as with its acquisition of Fluence. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** While I like Anaplan a lot overall, it could have better ways of tracking licenses. Its computing power allows you to produce real-time simulations of several scenarios based on complex sets of hypotheses defined for and by the business. Data processing is comprehensive, covering a wide range of business needs through a large number of native functions and formulas. A large number of use cases can be modelled. The user experience is simple to set up, pleasant to use and allows a large number of graphical displays. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Despite its many strengths, Anaplan could benefit from better rendering tools for modelbuilders to manage complex models. The lack of a ‘saved views’ parameter-setting page, similar to the ‘lineItem’ page, can lead to a loss of time when analysing complex models. There is also not easy to find indication of the publication of modules, and this information could be needed for a detailed analysis, particularly in the case of models with a very large number of pages in their app. These few elements could improve the modelling experience. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before using this EPM tool, the exchange file formats differed depending on who was involved. It is like writing code. High Performance Anaplan can handle huge amounts of data that Excel and spreadsheets cannot handle. If designed well, there is no waiting time. Quick development Since a wide variety of components such as functions, batch processing, simple ELT, and AI functions are provided in advance, the system can be developed much faster than if you had to write code from scratch. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Fewer graphs While we already have simple graphs that are commonly used, in rare cases we are unable to meet our client's needs due to graph limitations. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** It consolidates data siloed by planning work done in Excel into one single source of truth. This can be a double edge sword if not implemented right, or if requirements are not understood during development, but otherwise this allows for great flexibility in how things could be planned. Traceability- With formula drill downs, input cell user history, and model history there are a multitude of ways to track and audit end figures in Anaplan. This is nice sitting in a finance team. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Two major sticking points for me, Cube size and lack of ALM in the UX. Cube Size - Unless you use Anaplan's Polaris models, it can become cumbersome to have many (or large) dimensions planned together. This can lead to size restraints, resorting to managing composite/concatenated list structures. No ALM in the UX - Currently there is not a way to publish dashboard changes to a DEV environment, and then push them seamlessly to a UAT or PROD environment. As a result, it requires copying pages & repointing them - as an alternative of publishing changes across all Dev/UAT/Prod UX pages simultaneously. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Consistnency in planning - creates a standard structure in how forecasting is done, minimizing disparate/disconnected processes. ### 21. It also helps in Delivery support which emphasizes the use of specialized commercial tools to ensure that high-value, complex projects stay on track with approved targets. By implementing strong commercial cadence and governance, it provides insights and recommendations to drive project success and data-driven decisions. ### 22. Anaplan announced however the upcoming release of the Anaplan Data Orchestrator (ADO) which I hope will address this limitation by improving data integration and orchestration native capabilities. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Anaplan has helped clients solve numerous challenges by providing a robust, scalable, and flexible platform that transforms how businesses plan and operate. It delivered significant value to clients by streamlining their planning processes, enhancing decision-making capabilities, and enabling more agile, data-driven operations. Some of the key problems Anaplan has addressed for clients include: Eliminating Siloed Planning, Automating Manual Processes, Enabling Real-Time Scenario Planning, Enhancing Forecasting Accuracy, Scaling to Meet Business Growth and Improving Collaboration. ### 24. Its flexibility allows us to customise the tool for each unique aspect of the business. While it is extremely flexible, it is important to have the right people in place to help manage the tool long term. Implementations for Anaplan are quick and you can easily deliver an MVP and then continue to add on additional features throughout the year in releases. Users enjoy working with the tool because of the UX - if dashboards are built with a strong user journey in mind. Anaplan continues to release updates to the UX to meet the ever changing needs of clients. In addition, Anaplan has an extensive roadmap that I believe is focusing on the right areas: Data Integration and improvements there, creating out of the box solutions that folks can use or add customisations as needed, centralising security & consolidations to name a few. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** The auditing feature is not very user friendly. The export of history must be exported. parsed and displayed on a separately built dashboard to be useful. There continues to be issues with Data Management & Security Management; however, Anaplan focuses on the key areas where it recieves feedback and acts -- which is great! Consolidations features are missing -- thus missing the full end to end journey of planning. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Anaplan is centralising the planning processes and helping with version control and collaboration. There is more visibility into the numbers behind calculations and stronger processes are being formed internally to help systemitise budgeting and forecasting processes. ### 25. The versatility allows Anaplan to be used for such a wide variety of use cases - it can even be used as the project planning software (sprint tracking, user story review, etc.) for implementation for other use cases! The upside of building a connected planning platform on Anaplan is hat you can have all of your data in one place, connected in the same platform "language" which makes analysis and insights much easier to execute across an organization. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Anaplan still has some downsides when it comes to dashboarding; however, it has come a LONG way. The downsides are when you are trying to pull multiple dimensions together on a report; these are some limitations that will hopefully be resolved in future releases. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** You name it. Anaplan is so versatile that it can literally solve almost ANY business problem - and can be a platform your project planning or a quick game of connect four at that! Its dashboards or reports update on the fly when data change. Its flexible modelling features allow seamlessly model update. For example, when adding a new entity to entity list in a model, the same set of calculations will applied to the new entity straight away. No need to duplicate calculations for the new entity. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Dashboard functionality is not as flexible as excel. For example, font size in dashboard is not adjustable. Cell highlighting by user is not possible. Line item alias is not there, we need to create a separate line item to accommodate the reporting requirement. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before Anaplan, we used spreadsheet for monthly workforce planning process which involves 20 cost centers and around 400 workforce resources. Some resources will be shared by multiple cost center, and it caused double counting in planning. To maintain the accuracy and integrity of data, a delegated staff responsible to meet with individual head of business functions and to input the workforce planning data for them. Also, it took the staff around 3-4 stressful days to produce a consolidation report. During these 3-4 days, any new-comer or resignation still need to be handled and updated to get an accurate report. With Anaplan, individual head of business functions are able to input the workforce planning data themselves via the self-serve dashboard. With the control of cost center resources hierarchy, planning for shared workforce resources without double count become possible. Also, a cost center dashboard, which is impossible in spreadsheet model, allows the head of business functions to review their own workforce planning. Once the workforce planning data is completed by the head of business functions, the consolidation report is produced automatically. For any changes in resource, it reflects in the report immediately. ### 33.
