There are many, many features on this product. It takes some getting used to, but then it is relatively easy. I like the features of generating reports and getting all the needed information out of it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It takes a bit to learn to maneuver it. I feel some things should be just a click away instead of 5 or 6 clicks. A few more targeted areas through out the product weren't hurt either. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that all students in a school can have individualized learning plans, goals and progress charts. Each student can be compared to the school statistics as well as other students across the country. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The screening tests are somewhat long and frustrating for students who are below level. Especially the CBT tests for srudents 2nd grade and above. Students also accidentally lock themselves out of the tests a lot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the intervention goal setting and tracking part of aimsweb. It nice and quick to see if students are making progress towards their goal or if the goal needs to be readjusted. I also like that for the younger grades that the fluency passages have more of a phonic base to them where students can use their phonics knowledge to figure out unknown words. Since I am a reading I wish that the NWF portion would count whole words read WWR so I can see how students are blending or not blending. I would also prefer NWF emphasis vs LWSF. My reasoning for this is in the 1 min most students never get to the 3 letter blending portion and then I have to give another assessment to see which students are blending and which are not. I would also like a reading level component to the assessments to. I addition do not like all the different screens to get to places, it makes it very confusing for teachers that do not use this system a lot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The aspect I like most about Ainswec is that it gives teachers students proficiency areas in both math and reading. It is done one on one, and teachers can true representation of students' skills in certain areas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The only struggle with Aimsweb assessments is that it is a rather lengthy process. It can take a teacher 20-30 minutes to assess one student in literacy and numeracy successfully. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Using the same passages at the beginning and end of the year effectively demonstrates progress. The leveled passages are on grade-level with appropriate vocabulary. The passages for the upper elementary students are formatted appropriately for their reading level. The phonics assessments for K and 1 are effective tools for evaluating phonetic progress. The reading passages that are on one page for the lower elementary students are too difficult. If the reading passages were formatted like easy reader books with pages to turn or at least broken down in sections on one page; they would better replicate the reading formats in which the young students are learning. Also, the passages do not contain any pictures. Early readers are taught to use pictures to aid in comprehension. Taking time out from instruction to administer the aimsweb assessments was difficult as the students needed every minute of instruction as possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

AimswebPlus gives you numbers and the national norms are there. This makes it easy to make arms-length decisions. It also streamlines the RTI and SLD referral process. AimswebPlus also makes progress monitoring and assessing easier and less time consuming, however, there is a downside to this as noted in my 'dislikes' Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As I say in my review, when we assess students through computer interface, we lost something. We lose the "why" behind their decisions, we lose seeing how they approach a complex task such as decoding or other strategies they might use when they come to a tricky word. The computer interface also has an impact on student motivation and performance. Kids are on screens all day. They are bored with yet more screens, especially when they are not as stimulating as what they have come to expect. However, a teacher or reading specialist taking the time to interact with them 1:1 is a change of pace, grabs their interest, and can be a more powerful tool for assessment. When taking the SRF, I don't like it when students get a N/A score when they don't score high enough to get a score. The Test Nav benchmark assessments are too long. The ability to have a uniform assessment for both benchmarking and progress monitoring is essential. Specifically, during this digital age, it’s critical to have a platform that can be used remotely and in person. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The assessment is fast, easy for the students, very helpful for teachers as they listen individually to students who naturally speak Spanish.
